I come here with friends quite often for Sunday brunch, and enjoy it very much every single time! Big fan of the build your own bloody mary’s! Every item on the brunch menu we have ordered at least once, and every one was delicious! I recommend this place to all my friends, and when they finally go, they like it just as much as i do.
You wouldn’t expect to get such good service and food when you see the initial view of the place, but it exceeds your first judgement.

Great late night delivery! Was able to order a delicious meal at 12:30am on Saturday night! I ordered the meatballs and the salmon honeyaki… both were delicious!

The food was excellent just like homemade. I had the stew with noodles. My son had French onion soup best I ever had. My son also had their most delicious moist meatloaf. From time to time they have entertainment on Fri night June 3^rd will be a singer at the large bar room. We both highly recommend this place. Easy to get to off of route 4, into Maywood and easy

A first for me. Our appetizer arrived before our drinks did.
I ordered the Pulled pork with provolone and broccoli rabe.
It was dry and cold.
Service is horrendous.
Eating while the air is on full blast wasn’t pleasant.

drinks are fantastic, came for the filet mignon on Monday nights. Awesome! Bartenders are friendly!

Great food, excellent service and very reasonable prices. Could use a few more selections of beer, however we will definitely be back. Good with our without kids, our server was extremely friendly and fast…

My absolute favorite place — me and my fiancé look forward to coming here every weekend. The atmosphere is incredible, the people are authentic, the drinks are a bargain, and the food is delicious. The Pittsburgh pork sandwich (w/​Mozzerella) is to die for.
If you’re looking to have a great night with the people you care about most, Oak Ale House is the place to go. 5 stars doesn’t do it justice!

I love this place. I have been a few times now and i have never been disappointed. I had the Mahi Mahi special and it was out of this world. I will continue to go back.

Not a fan, not a fan one bit…
The restaurant has 2 floors, the sports bar is on the first while the main dining area is on the second. I primarily went to watch the football games and boy was I not impressed. First off, there are only a total of what 10 – 12 TV’s which is not enough at all for a sports bar. Literally, every game that was on during that time was only on one TV, if that’s what I wanted I would’ve just stayed at home.
Our poor waitress was taking care of the entire bar by herself! That’s unacceptable as I am huge on service, she was overwhelmed with not a minute to breathe. We got ok service but of course not her fault, management needs to hire more staff without a question.
Food was cheap, but like they say, you get what you pay for and we sure did. I tried to play it safe, at least I thought I was, by getting steak, poached eggs, potatoes and toast. The steak smelled awful, all I was able to smell was a nasty scent of blood that never went away, not like my steak was rare it was actually medium well. I believe it was an old piece of meat that wasn’t properly cleaned or stored. Poached eggs were perfect so I give them that, potatoes were rubbery and stale, definitely were just sitting under the heat lamp for some time. I didn’t enjoy my meal at all, matter fact I left hungry. The burger was overcooked, dry and bread was burnt, fries were edible, it was the best thing.
Sadly the place is on a busy street, but with below average food, lack of service, TV’s and happy hour… I can’t call this my go to spot.

Thought we’d order from here based on other reviews and being that we are local to Maywood. Ordered pick up today for the first time. We got the grilled chicken sandwich and the oak burger. First off, placing the order was a mess. It was like no one wanted to take our order by phone. Person didn’t know the menu or what goes in the food. The food was a big disappointment. The burger looked over cooked. It was charred on the outside. They put a half an onion on the inside. Who wants that much onions in a burger? The person taking the order asked if we wanted lettuce and tomatoes but those two items never made it on the burger. The chicken sandwich was on an old or over toasted Italian roll. The chicken lacked flavor. It was dry and charred as well. It’s possible the burger meat was cooked first and chicken was cooked on the same uncleaned surface. The fries sucked. They would have been good. They were steak fries but either were old fries that probably sat there or cooked in old oil/​not hot enuff oil. Fries come with a fries sauce that was nasty. It possibly had horseradish in there and ketchup. We won’t order from here again.

This place stinks. Twice ive been there and the ditzy blond bartender is more interested in talking to bar patrons rather than taking my to go order. I finally got my food after 20 minutes (just a burger and fries) and the bread was dry. Only 6 french fries no ketchup and burger was well done and i ordered medium. STAY AWAY FROM HERE!

Good burgers at a great price

At first, sort of an eye sore on the inside because of all the paintings and upgrades that are going on. Past that, everything was great. The place was empty, waitress was on top of things and food was SO good. Definitely comfort food at a cheap price.

Came here with a group of 9. Was told on the phone that wings would be 25 cents and an all day special. Came there to find out they were 50 cents and only after 9. Thanks for misleading me and our group. I’m sure the food is great but I ain’t trying it.

Amazed. Ordered delivery — a lunch special. Came in less than an hour and it was still warm. I ordered the «oak wrap» and a side of Parmesan fries. When it came, I didn’t realize my wrap came with a side of fries so yay double the fries!
Total came to $ 11 with tip, great experience. Wrap was solid — looked mushy but it wasn’t.
Delivery man gave lots of coupons too for next time. There certainly will be a next time!

Fun place with a local nice crown. Had a great time and Maureen is the best bartender around. Absolutely coming back.

Was just here again the other night for their filet special and it is about time I write a review. Bartender Jennifer needs a huge shout out. She’s sweet, friendly, efficient and can hold the bar on her own.
They have a good craft beer selection and it is served very cold in icy glasses. Refreshing! Filet special is always a fav for Mon but their other food is also good.
All around great local neighborhood bar. If Jennifer is in, you will be in good hands.

I decided to have a little Christmas lunch here for my sales team. We were looking for a place that was local and had some good burgers.
Let me tell you that this place didn’t let me down. The food was great. We all got burgers or some type of sandwich. Everyone was amazed at how good the food was.
Don’t let the prices fool you. They are a steal.

Place is big with many different rooms that are sectioned off to not bother the others.
1. Loud, fun, rocking pub with bar food, darts, you get it?
2. Quiet front dining room.
3. Back dining room lounge area with large bar, bandstand cans plenty if tables to eat, drink, and lisrenvto live music.
4. I believe there is upstairs room for catering.
Great burgers. Fish. Apps, Italian spring rolls rock. Fun place. Inexpensive. They even deliver locally now.

This review is strictly based on food quality as I ordered for delivery.
I ordered the lunch special chicken marsala. I expected it to be mediocre at best. Chicken Marsala is never amazing from a delivery place, so my expectations were low to begin with.
What I received resembled chicken marsala only because of the fact that the sauce was brown and there were mushrooms in it. Other than that, it was very bland. What flavor it did have resembled chicken marsala in no way. My low expectations were met with even lower results.
Perhaps I will try an easier delivery dish to give the place one more shot, but just like this time, my expectations will be low.

First off, I have to say that I love Pleasant Street, which is where Oak Ale House is located. It’s so convenient for me, because I live about a block or so away. I love to stroll by on Sunday mornings and support some of the independent business owners in the area, whom I have tremendous admiration for.
I heard about Oak Ale House via Groupon. I paid maybe 7.50 for a voucher worth 25.00 of food. What a steal! I was there by myself, so I was able to order a lot! :) I had: a large order of Caesar salad, chocolate mousse cake, fries, and the Bella burger. Despite the terms and conditions of the Groupon, they still let me use it after it had expired (maybe they didn’t notice), and I was able to use it for a to-​go order (which you typically can’t do). Their prices are incredibly reasonable as well.
Everything was very delicious! The Bella burger came out fantastic and was piled with plenty of fresh mozzarella. The servers were very friendly, and the cook even came out to make sure that he got my order correct.
Often times with Groupons I just visit the business and never come back (due to poor service, location, prices, etc). It is quite rare for a business to actually earn my business! :)

My lady and I came here for dinner after seeing this on Unilocal.I loved the feel of this establishment, felt welcoming and neighborly
I only subtracted a star because there was no one available to greet us or seat us when we entered. I had to walk to the bar and wait a little bit more before I saw the waitress and then we were promptly seated.
Service was exceptional after that! Food came out quick and our waitress was always on top of our requests and orders.
I order a rather delicious Texas Burger that was juicy and tasty! Paired well with the Sierra Nevada IPA. My girlfriend had the Full Rack of Ribs! Lets just say, I felt that they were from two cows put together! Generous proportions!
I highly recommend this place.

On a Friday night coming home from the mall, my girlfriend and I were looking for somewhere to grab some food and drink, so after seeing the reviews, we decided on this place. We ordered the Juicy Lucy burger and the Thanksgiving Anytime.
The burger itself was, like the name suggests, very juicy and overall just a very delicious burger, while the Thanksgiving Anytime gave my girlfriend nostalgia of homemade Thanksgiving dinners of her past. It was overall, a very satisfying meal topped off with some sweet Limon Cello for dessert, which was presented very thoughtfully with cinnamon and whipped cream.
Our server, Fred, was extremely friendly and accommodating. His overall attentiveness to our needs was very appreciated and enhanced the overall experience.
Oak Ale House’s restaurant area is an awesome place to go to for a hearty meal for a great price. I would definitely come back for the food and a drink or two… Or three.

Oak Ale House is a few minutes away from our office. They have great lunch specials and happy hour ones as well.
There are three levels to this place and two entrances. They have two large bar areas and plenty of table space/​seating. The servers/​bartenders are all friendly and attentive.
Food is really great for the price, especially the grilled cheeses. They also offer an unlimited soup and salad combo for lunch, which is pretty cool.
There’s on-​street parking as well as a parking lot in the back. The owner will come and greet you, and ask how everything is.

This place was fantastic. I work in the Garden State Plaza and ordered takeout on a Saturday evening. Let that sink in for a sec.
The dude arrived way sooner than GrubHub estimated and the food was still piping hot. I ordered the Pittsburgh Pork Sandwich and it was phenomenal. The garlic shrimp was very flavorful too and not rubbery.
I can’t wait to try more from this place, I’m definitely ordering again soon.

Came here for happy hour with a bunch of colleagues, taking up most of the place.
They don’t have a LOT of beers on tap but they still have a nice selection. Prices aren’t unreasonable. The staff seem friendly enough. They’re quick to get your order out to you. Not sure if the taps were the problem but every pour, they had a lot of head on the beer. Meh. No big deal.
There are a lot of regulars at the bar it seems, a little older crowd but most seem nice enough. Including some who made sure to answer my question regarding parking.
It can get really loud in there to the point where I began losing my voice. Though that may have been my own friends causing the noise pollution this day. Haha
Need to try the food next time especially since they have some great specials like Filet Mignon for $ 5 on Mondays. What? Yeah, you read that right.
