Benefit Brow Bar at Macy’s

Big brows are in right now. It is the antithesis of the 90’s, but I sort of love the trend of defined, groomed, well shaped brows instead of the tacky, pencil thin, pornstar-​esque things we had gotten used to. Unfortunately this can be a hard look to achieve if attempted on your own– and that’s why the Benefit Brow Bar is amazing.
This little gem is nestled comfortable in Macy’s right next to the Benefit counter. Appointments are appreciated but they will take a walk in if the esthetician is available.
The girls who have helped me have always been wonderful. Although I know they sell product as well, they have never hustled me or made me uncomfortable in the pursuit of a sale. I have also had eyelash extensions added in from time to time for special occasionals. I love how they are able to define your eyes, and make your lashes look large without sticking on obviously huge falsies.
I have never been to any other Brow Bar locations, but am just fine visiting this one as my steady.

I have been a long customer of the Benefit Brow Bars, but unfortunately, my experience at the Benefit in Macy’s Tyson’s Corner was definitely not up to par compared to the other Benefit Brow Bars I have visited.
I had an appointment in the early afternoon. The brow esthetician was ~10 minutes late for my appointment time, and didn’t apologize when she finally showed up. I wasn’t in a hurry so didn’t say anything.
I was surprised when she immediately put the wax onto my brow and lip area. She didn’t use any makeup remover to clean the area, nor did she use any of the pre-​waxing oil to prep for waxing. She seemed to be rushing, although there was no one else there?
After, she put the cooling gel on me. As per the usual with Benefit, she applied concealer to hide the redness. But I was shocked when she put the concealer right on top of the cooling gel without tissuing it off.
All in all, the wax was fine – fast and relatively painless (I was just doing a clean-​up so didn’t need any shaping), and the end result was fine. But service-​wise, this Benefit location does not live up to other locations.

So I heard that Benefit will give you a free eyebrow wax on your birthday week. I was given an appointment with Sara, and she did a poor job. My expectation was that I would get a free wax and they would use the opportunity to recommend some brow products to me. I brought cash for tip and was expecting to be upsold. What else would be the point of them offering a birthday freebie?
Anyway, I was treated coldly when I arrived. Not sure why since they didn’t seem busy and there were no customers around. Sara didn’t seem interested in my concerns about my brows and was done in 5 minutes. I guess I was dismissed because I wasn’t a paying customer? She showed me the ‘after’ (laughable! Uneven, especially on the left brow and inner corners) and asked if I wanted my brows filled in (no, thanks! I’ll just keep using my Paul & Joe and Sania’s Brow Bar pencils). Needless to say, she didn’t receive a tip and I quickly left to assess the damage more closely.
I wish I took a picture of my eyebrows right before the appointment but you’ll just have to take my word that the ‘after’ is worse than the ‘before.’ I’ll have to spend extra time correcting my eyebrows in the morning for the next few months while I wait for them to grow back. I’ll post some pics to show that I have decent understanding of symmetry and what good brows can look like.
So long story short, I don’t recommend you come here unless you have super easy brows to work on, and absolutely do not come here for your birthday brow freebie! To Benefit: some eye contact and a smile wouldn’t hurt (especially if your skills are lacking). :)

I love getting my eyebrows tinted and shaped by Sara! It’s taken me a while to get them to this shape and Sara is the only one I trust to maintain them. I highly recommend her.

Great experience! Sarah does a wonderful job we need to have eyelash dying available like in New York. Benefit this is a great opportunity and we want more!

Surya has been working with me since May to get my right eyebrow to grow in. She is patient and does a good wax. Since she’s a registered aesthetician I trust her. The eyebrow and lip wax combo is only $ 27, don’t forget to bring cash to tip! The only issue I have with the brow bar is that they need a new chair! The paint is old and it feels a little flimsy when sitting down.

Huge race for the Benefit Brow Bar in Macy’s. I called and made an appointment, and my technician Sarah, was ready and waiting for me when I arrived.
It’s very true that good brows can completely change your look. Sarah explained each step as she worked, and I felt she was very thorough and meticulous. I did not feel rushed, and she finished up by concealing the redness and filling in my brows. Amazing customer service! I will definitely be back.

I’m the biggest critic when it comes to eyebrow waxing. Alyssa is by far THE BEST — best perk of all, brow wax is only $ 20! Having been to Georgetown and paying $ 40 for so so brows, I was thrilled to find a Benefit Brow Bar in the area. So worth the drive!
