I was a patron when this joint was George’s back before dirt was old. A great unpretentious place in the middle of McLean. The new owners continued that tradition of darts, beer and low-key fun. The owners aren’t new anymore and want to move on. Say it ain’t so! But I’m afraid it is. Bye-Bye McKeevers. I miss the good times and I’ll miss knowing you are there.

Happy to find this pub but sad that it is closing this summer. A great place to hang out and have a beer. Cheers!

Went in with a buddy for lunch since our usual spot was slammed. This place wasn’t dead, but wasn’t packed either. A little hard to find, but oh so worth it. Minimalist menu of great tasting food(try the burger), and some craft beer in bottles and some good beer on tap. As we’re eating we hear the place is for sale, not for lack of business, but the owner wanted to move on to a larger venture after a few decades. Too bad. I’d head in to this place over and over.

Most dehumanizing experience I’ve had with a waitress. Horrible HORRIBLE service. Incredibly rude and I overheard her talking about us.

This is a great little spot. Hidden in the building at the forefront of the Balduccis parking lot off of Old Dominion, this place is a good time. Inside it looks exactly as I expect an Irish bar to look: lots of dark wood, a small bar w/a large mirror behind it, and lots of wooden booths and tables. The staff here is… awesome. You can tell this is a neighborhood bar. They say hello to everyone, have fun little conversations and treat you like you’ve been coming there for years. They have a healthy little craft beer selection, which was a pleasant surprise. My husband and I both had burgers, and they were damn good. If I worked closer I might be here 2 – 3 times a week for lunch as well as after work for a drink. Do yourself a favor if you’re in the area and stop in for a pint.

McKeever’s is great! It has a great ambience, fun bartenders, and great food. It’s quite lucky, since it’s the only bar in McLean(except for«The Pub», which is grungy and sketch). I come here usually more than once a week. They have very often stayed open well after closing hours if there are people there, which is the ultimate in service. The drinks are a little pricey, but it’s worth it. The wings and the nachos are terrific.

That place is Great! Perfect size, perfect food, and a nice, very nice service. Desserts are to die for. No BS, no marketing, just what is it. If you want a genuine Irish pub: McKeever’s is Z place. It is a quiet place for” The Quiet Man”.

First off let me start off by saying, I don’t know how anyone can actually find this place, unless you literally live right by it, because it’s located in the middle of this small plaza. So you could drive by it everyday and not even realize it’s there. Second, the reason I found out about this place is because the little lady is best friends with the waitress. Shout out to KRISTI!(She’s going to hate me for that one. Haha) Anyways, we decided the surprise her bestie. As soon as you walk in you realize how tiny the place is. The décor is um. well, it’s original! The 2 person booths are really small, but then again I’m a little on the husky side. We ordered the nachos, the bestie/waitress recommended them. I will say I was genuinely surprised at how good they were. Huge portion with a price to match. Everything there is homemade and fresh. So the nachos were a thumbs up. We also ordered some burgers which were good as well. Overall, I took off 2 stars for 2 reasons: 1) They never have drink specials and 2) It’s just too pricy.

Whenever I’m here(count it 4 times in the last year or so) it’s always in weird situations. First, it’s an Irish pub out in McLean, so generally you can assume I’m there because I lost the center of gravity argument and had to pay my dues. It’s a bit of a sad looking place with some interesting folks to watch. The staff is always friendly, and attentive the food is always mediocre, and the beer is always flowing – just like you hope a suburban Irish pub would be. When I say sad, I mean I have only been there with folks, and we are usually the loud crew that feels badly for interrupting other guests otherwise very quiet… dinner??This is not a place you want to go alone, belly up to the bar, and see what happens. This is a place you go to with your friends. To be the obnoxious group in the corner or at the bar…

Been here twice now, and I can’t remember how the food was the first time probably because I was in awe at how terrible the service was. The second time I went, a week ago, I can’t tell you how the food was ether because I walked out after practically having been ignored by service on an uncrowded night.

I’ve been here twice for lunch and would easily return. I had the shepherd’s pie both times, because it was really tasty, but the burgers also look excellent, and the potatoes that come with them are heavenly. Service is slow, but friendly. It’s worth visiting if you’re in the area, but not worth going out of your way for.

We didn’t eat, but did have a number of drinks. It was very quiet, but the bar tender was super nice, and the drinks were made properly. They even charged very fair prices. We will certainly go back for after-work drinks.

I’m sorry, but I think this place is laaaaaame. It was dead on a Saturday night except for a few doods who looked barely past high school. Not joking — the scene was so dead that I literally read the mystery novel I’d picked up earlier in the day from the free bookshelf at Café Amouri. It was approximately 11pm on a Saturday. $ 6.75 for a Blue Moon seems steep to me, especially when there isn’t much atmosphere to speak of.

Woman behind the bar gave me a lecture when I sent my food(wings) back. I am sorry but they a) were drenched in butter(actually she said some kind of soy butter-flavored nastiness) and b). Tasted like they were simultaneously going to give me a heart attack and make me throw up. And c). They cost TENDOLLAH!!! Too much money to waste on something I couldn’t choke down. This place has been on my «To Try» list for a long time. Now it is un-bookmarked fo’ good! P. S. I really didn’t like the décor. Basically a dark little brick hole. No windows, no charm.

Friendly staff, and unassuming Irish décor. During their incredibly short happy hour(5−6PM, M-F), the place is filled with 50+ couples that have made it their after work hangout. Beer: Smithwick Ale, Guinness, Bluemoon, Yuengling, Miller lite, Pilsner Urquell and a Sam Adams Seasonal(currently the delicious Summer ale). Nothing super impressive, but it works. The wings(pictured): definitely hyped. They are big, meaty(and a bit fatty) wings. Baked, then grilled. The smokey flavor taste is excellent, but the sauce doesn’t give much flavor. Not really spicy either. The first 3 really hit the spot, but I quickly felt like I had enough. The prices: pretty steep. 10+ wings were $ 10, and my Sam Adams summer ale, during happy hour, was $ 4.95. Can’t imagine what it is outside of happy hour! Anywhere else this would be a 3 star(I’d go again but not my first choice), but this is McLean…

A delightful local pub tucked away on the ground floor of a small office building at the mouth of a commercial park and obscured from the road. However, inside you’ll find it filled with smiling Mclean locals getting a brew and having a light meal. I can’t comment on the food, but enjoyed the ambiance of the long dark stained wood bar and cozy small tables and bench seats against the wall. There is also a dart board for impromptu matches to see who’s buying the next round. Loads of parking and an excellent place to stop for a cold one after work.
