Had a really good meal here recently. Very friendly atmosphere and waiters.

We have visited the Woodberry several times over the last 20 years. New owners took over 5 years ago and has totally transformed the place. It has a new look and is very clean. It’s a great place to stay and has green space as well as a large pond and on site restaurant and small bar. It would get 5 stars but the room heater was sub par and the room was like ice.

Waitstaff– excellent, Owner– personable, Cooks– good. All in all the meal was good, service was good, the place was clean, and the view was spectacular. Dont get the meatloaf. I didn’t. My partner did. It was not good. My crabcakes and Rosemary garlic potatoes were excellent. Get those onion rings while you wait for your salad, meal and the double chocolate brownie with ice cream is a great topper. This is an addition; deduct a Star. The only minus I have seen recently is the elderly gentleman door greeter whom insults people he does not know at the door. We watched this unfold before our eyes, If he knows the restaurant patron he greets them, seats them, and will even tells them the reataurant side is low on steaks, encourages then to order the steaks and takes their order and rushes the order to the kitchen as we waited for our steaks, and then the waitress came back to us and told us they were out of steaks when we thought they were bringing us our order. So we substituted our order and low and behold as we waited for our order we watched those people get our steaks. The elderly gentleman. Deduct another Star. The last time we went there I stepped in ahead of my partner. It had been raining, There wasn’t a door mat outdoors but there was inside. I stepped in and started to wipe my feet and the elderly man barked at me to wipe my feet. We sat there and watched him greet people he knew, come and he did not tell them the wipe their feet. I was so insulted. I dont plan to go back for a while again. Because I don’t want to give them my money for awhile anyways.

We had a lovely night here after a long day of travel with Lucy, our French Bulldog. It is not easy to find dog-friendly hotels, but this one was great. We stayed on the first floor, our door opening onto a pond complete with ducks, who mutually ignored Lucy during our morning walk around the water. Breakfast was good too, continental, but nice coffee and tea service. Staff were friendly and king as well.

We ate here last fall and can’t wait to go back! Service is above and beyond what you might expect. The owners are hands on and greeted everyone. Kind of hard to find if you don’t know which milepost to turn off at, but well worth the effort it takes to find it. Skip the crowds at Mabry Mill and have a nice lunch(or dinner) here.
