The street tacos were good and best of all I didn’t get sick, which to be honest was a slight concern when picking a place out in seemly the middle of nowhere on the way to LA. I’d get the tacos again, but a lot of the other items seemed a little over price and the big taco they advertise isn’t that big or impressive.

Stopped by here on our way to the Salton Sea and man, this is a little gem! I wouldn’t describe Mecca as a happening spot, but if you do ever find yourself in the area, give this place a try. It’s located in a little strip mall. We opted for the Taco de Nopal with Al Pastor and were pleasantly surprised by a quite sizable homemade tortilla filled with tender meat, cheese and cactus. One taco for 6.95 is plenty as its not a small taco, but a full size tortilla. The place was clean and service was friendly. I’d come back for more!

I don’t usually write reviews, but this place was too good not to. This place has really good tacos and for a good price too. For a little under a dollar you get one small taco with the protein of your choice. They have the standard fare salsa bar, no spicy carrots and jalapeños though. I tried the carnitas, al pastor and chorizo. Al pastor was by far my favorite. I also ordered a Chabela. It was good considering I hadn’t had one in so long, but they’re nothing special. It wasn’t as flavorful as the ones you find in Mexicali.

Love this place for my chavela and taco fix! Very delicious and great customer service! Hole in the wall but genuinely good Mexican food if your sick of microwaved carne asada fries! This place has fresh delicious ones!

Amazing tacos. Nothing like we’ve ever had. The tortilla was really good. We both got the giant tacos with roasted chilis and chicken.

We took a chance and stopped here. What a great food experience. The corn tortilla was large and delicious. The taco mix was seasoned perfectly. The cactus added a slight pickle flavor. Loved this place.

Great place but recently the service has not been great. Last few times that I’ve gone they’re out of meat, tortillas, or some type of condiment for your taco. The cashier/girl that has been there the last few times seems like she doesn’t want to be there and is always on her phone and doesn’t provide friendly service. Other than that the food is great when available.

The salsas are spicy and delicious and the tacos are giant. No vegetarian taco but if you ask they can do it. The nachos use nacho cheese though

OMG! Just had the best taco pollo EVER! It was huge(note I said«was»). The pepper was tender yet not squishy, the chicken excellent and all very fresh! People say the hole in the wall places serve the best food… yep!!! So, if you’re out cruising in the middle of nowhere and happen across Mecca, this is the spot!

What a great find in the absolute middle of nowhere! I saw the picture of the giant taco on someone else’s view and knew I needed to get it. Best taco I’ve ever eaten. It was warm and flavorful. I played it safe with carne asada, but Taco Time offers up exotic meats(and body parts) I’ve never even heard of! She had some mini tacos(also with carne asada I think). Although she complained when we arrived, she went back for seconds!

Super clean, friendly, and deeelish. We’re from LA and stopped here on our way back from salvation mountain. Food was yummier than most of the mexican places in LA. I’ve never written a Unilocal review but had to do it for this place. Enjoy!

A definite oasis of good food in Mecca. Hit this up after a day of hiking in Painted Canyon with a friend and we were glad we did! Good times and very clean & well-decorated interior to enjoy our Mexican deliciousness in.

Id give it 4.5 but that isnt an option so 5 it is, most definitely a 5 more than a 4. After eating there for the first time I would like to try everything on the menu. The taco was massive the shell delicious, meat was think and tender but slightly fatty hence the .5 deduction but overall everything tasted great and a great deal too!

I love going to Box Canyon, in the mecca hills and found this Taco place right on the way, in Mecca. I’ve done a lot of $ 1 taco shopping in East LA, SGV, and this place rocks with their $.95 tacos. Lengua was super good, carne asada was just right, and Al Pastor had a real good char to it. Authentic for sure, salsa’s were super fresh, as the chili’s, tomatillos, tomatoes, cilantro, onions, garlic are grown in mecca, with just right amount of heat. If you are going hiking or rock climbing in Box Canyon, this is the place to stop. Only a few places to eat in mecca, this place is the best!
