I paid Scott Mackensie a total of 500 bucks to power wash and restain my deck. The total cost was to be 750, the last 250 paid upon completion. He sent some of his «new guys» to power wash, and when they were here they dumped all the kerosene langerns from the deck on my new stone patio, causing a huge spill and stain. Scott promised to correct that when he came back.
He never came back. Ever. He led me on for the entire summer, telling me the weather wasn’t cooperating, until eventually I started keeping track of consecutive sunny days. He then, after 2+ months of stalling, admitted he took another big job and couldn’t fit me in, he felt bad and he still wanted to make it right. I told him ok, as I didn’t feel like dealing with it anymore, and he committed to be there the following week. Never came. Then didn’t come again the next week. I the said if he didn’t come soon I’d need a full refund, as my deck actually looked worse for having been stripped and not restained all season, and I needed to start from scratch with someone else. He committed to come again, to finish, and didn’t again. Then he conceded he’d give me a full refund and committed to delivering a cashiers check by Friday the next week. Never came. Two weeks later he said he would offer me 250 only, not the 500 I paid.
I’m now taking him to court. A lot of nonsense to deal with for a simple job but at this point I’m going to hold him accountable for what I paid plus repairs to the patio.
I’d highly recommend to stay very clear of this guy. Not truthful or direct. Lies. And doesn’t stand up to his word. And took a simple job and turned it into a summer long fiasco.
