Best place ever! I had the sweetest old lady who was so much better than all the young servers everywhere else that literally ruin your night with horrific service every single solitary time. Loved it here!

Saturday night @ 10:30 sat at bar for over 10 minutes. Bartender never asked if I wanted anything. I spoke to hostess & advised that 2 bartenders are needed on Saturday night. Now I’m going somewhere else to spend my money!

Great place to garb a drink and the food is pretty good too. Love the steak tips. There is plenty of parking. Crowd is mixed and pretty lively. Good tunes and good vibes.

Walk in at 5:30 only 3 people at the bar(should have known to leave then) 5 minutes later bartender finally ask if she can get us a drink order 2 beers and a diet coke. Bartender comes back with drinks then vanishes for 20 minutes. I guess we won’t be eating here tonight… looking at the other reviews probably the best thing that could have happened

The ONLY reason Grimsby’s is still on business is because they’re the closest bar to Melrose(due to liquor laws). My bison burger was cooked to death, the whole place smelled of far-too-old fryer oil and the dust gathering on the decades of tschoshkies in the rafters, and the waitress was overwhelmed by the 3 tables she had to wait. It’s the kind of place you expect to see on Kitchen Nightmares, before the makeover. Hell, the beer list isn’t even good. It’s a shame they haven’t had to change in 25 years, because it’s a great spot and could be a cool bar. But unless you want a trip back to a mediocre version of the early 90s, it’s a hard skup.

I was skeptical about Grimsby’s at first. It looks like a dive bar. It’s dark and seems like it could be kind of dirty. But after having a great experience several times, I’m willing to give it 4 stars. Not only have I come in for birthday parties and drinks, but a few other moms and I brought 4 babies in on a Friday night for dinner. Staff was so courteous and patient with us and the entire dining area is very baby/kid friendly. There were several other babies and children in our vicinity. Not to mention, the food is surprisingly good too! I got a Cobb salad, but even the more in depth dishes looked great. We’ll be back!

This is a local family restaurant. The food is good. I absolutely love the crock of chili and the turkey tips. The times have eaten in the restaurant the service has been good.

I love this place. Is it flashy and trendy? Nope. Is it home to a master mixologist? Nope. I will tell you what it IS home to: down home good eats, cold beers and friendly staff. They just updated their menu — the buffalo chicken dip is amazing, their Reuben is one of the best that I’ve had and ample desserts in a market that doesn’t believe in sweets. I’m here once a week and am never disappointed. The only downfall(and it’s a «first world problem») is that I get no cell service as soon as I walk in the door. Which is ok with me for the most part, as I’m always here with friends to enjoy a good meal.

Could be so much better. Servers are usually great, food is not awful, just mainly mediocre. Beer selection poor(it used to be better). Food okay. Kids love it with the free popcorn. Not a bad place to go to when time is tight — your kids will think it’s great(and there is value in that!).

I visited J.J. Grimsby last week and was very impressed. It was nice and normally quiet, which pleased me as I had just left a shopping mall with my friend, who was also with me. We both ordered a side of mild buffalo wings, which were excellent. I love wings that are not only crispy on the outside, but also have a little bite to them and these were perfect. We also ordered burgers. I ordered mine with onion rings, which were deliciously homemade. The waitress was so sweet and knew the menu by heart. It would be also good to mention that they also have keno, which is also a favorite of mine.

I didn’t make it 10 steps through the restaurant before gagging over a terrible smell. I left.

Went to Grimsby’s for the first time after moving to the area this past weekend. We always drove by this place and the parking lot is always pretty full. Upon walking i we were expecting to wait but we were seated right away. The menu is mostly bar/pub food with some good steak options. The wait staff is excellent and did a great job despite how busy it was! The food was okay, we had ordered a couple of wraps and they hit the spot. We will go back again sometime soon but will be checking out some of the other restaurants in the area first. Again, we had two great waiters(they were changing shifts when we had arrived).

Great Restaurant with a fantastic Baked Stuffed Haddock with«Real» Seafood Stuffing. Their Green Salads are well made. One of their tastiest dressing is the Zinfindel. Have kids? It’s a great Family Atmosphere!

Have been here a handful of times now. I’ve tried the grilled chicken and turkey dinner… both delicious. Staff is friendly and helpful. I’ve only been there for a quick dinner after work, but it’d be a great place to bring a bunch of friends to watch the game, have drinks, some food, the usual. I personally love it because the kitchen is open relatively later than most places in the area(11:30pm?).

JJ’s is a gift! It’s the closest bar to Melrose, a dry town(yes they still exist). Depending on what time you go, you’ll notice different crowds– families, townies, the 5 o’clock middle age white collar rush. The food is middle of the road, and that’s just fine. The bar area is beautiful and rustic. It’s a great place to sneak into a booth for some girl talk. The bar has two TVs, and I never have trouble getting the game I want. Everyone is local, and you should expect to be treated in a simple, down to earth manor. Nothing fancy. Just JJ’s.

The food here is getting better and better. I just the Cuban quesadilla. The homemade specials are always good. They have an ongoing rolling rock $ 2 pint special. The bar is really nice with an American-Irish appeal. They also have keno and wifi. Go there today.

Terrible three times in a row, not sure why we came back this time. At least in the past the service was decent even if food was mediocre. This latest time the service was slow(20 minutes before order was taken), and the 2 rare and 1 medium rare burgers came out as flavorless charcoal. Not even a trace of pink to be seen. Waitress couldn’t be bothered to ask how our meals were, and we didn’t see her for another half hour until she brought the check. Done with this place

Took my toddler for a family friendly dinner. Terrible for kids. Empty tables 15 min wait. Took forever. Food was edible but nothing worth the wait and the screaming kids. Everyone there was miserable! The waitress calculated everything wrong and over charged us. We just wanted to get out of there so we paid it. Seriously… Eat anywhere else. It’s dirty. It’s not good food. Don’t bring your kids. I don’t like to leave scathing reviews… just don’t eat here.

I called repeatedly to schedule a post funeral luncheon there. Apparently only the owner can take reservations for a large party. He never called me back and I had to scramble to find another place. I took my party to Turner Seafood in Melrose square and it was great. They treated me very nicely. Don’t bother with JJ Grimsbys.
