No brainer local produce at a good buy. Inside the farmer’s market you will not find booths like you would at the Downtown Market. This market is all about the produce although occasionally other vendors selling baked goods or cold goods like Mama D’s will be set up on the weekends. Always ask the vendor where each produce item comes from. Some is «home-grown» and some items are sourced from other locations. For example most of them sell watermelons — but they do not grow them — they all come from a farm in MS Another tip is if it looks like the fruit and veggies in the grocery store(huge and without scars) then the more likely they use more chemicals and growth aids. Go for the small banged up items — they have the most flavor!

This is my go to farmers market. I go here most mainly because it is open 6 days a week. I love browsing the booths for unique veggies and fruits. That’s usually how I decide my dinners for the week. It makes me happy to get some new– to — me veggie and find a recipe to fix it. Strange maybe, but true.

We belong to an organic CSA this year w Windermere Farms. We paid $ 300 in March. Last year we were with Jones Market but two people can’t use 4 dozen peaches each week plus everything else in the large box. They now offer two sizes but raised their prices. After we choose some produce we head to Paradise Seafood. Today we got fresh Gulf grouper and shrimp. If you come early Wednesday you may find more activity than in late afternoon. Singers, tea, coffee and more vendors. My CSA usually doesn’t open till 3 on Wednesday.

I hate that it took me so long to overcome my fear of crowds– this is a great opportunity to include local, fresh produce into our diets at a lower price than we pay at the grocery store. Our CSA this year draws us each week to the Agricenter Farmer’s Market. I hate that I have my children with me every time, because I’d like to have time to stop and look at the jewelry, or the plants at the nursery next door. Tomorrow’s plan is to go alone, and line up for some paradise seafood or at the sausage man’s cart for some fresh sausage.

I love this market! The only thing I would change is the location. It just seems ill fitting for the ambiance of a farmer’s market. I wish it were all on its own. To give you an idea, I first spotted this little gem on a trip to the Delta Fair grounds. Get the picture? The outside of this place is adorable and shaped like a real, red barn. The inside? It’s packed to the gills with some of the best homegrown fruits and veggies a gal could ask for. Not only do they have your typical farmer’s market fair, but they also offer up jewelry(yay!), jellies, baked goods & pastries, organic/natural soaps and pottery items. I picked up a fabulous bowl on this particular trip. It now is the home for my bananas and apples on my kitchen table– and it is lovely! My favorite item here were the tomatoes. I ate them on plain, white bread with a little salt. Yes, they were that ripe. Juicy and delicious! This place is a little out of the way for me, but I’ll happily make the trip if it means I can partake in those freaking tomatoes!

I really can’t think of anything ‘wrong’ with this market, or any way to improve it. It has a kind of Southern charm. It’s small enough where you don’t feel overwhelmed and there’s a warm fuzzy sense of community there. There are fresh herbs and gourd birdhouses and pumpkins and local-grown produce, oh my. You’ll find honey sticks and ‘Red Neck Wind Chimes’(beer cans hanging from a sign emblazoned with the aforementioned title), and sometimes you’ll even find puppies for sale. It’s right next to a very nice garden center, complete with tropical plants and pretty stone garden items, likes bird feeders and statues. The parking can get a little hairy, but nothing too major. So, come on out, and support local farms and craftspeople.

I love the way farmer’s markets smell– so fresh and yummy. I’ve been going to the one at the Agricenter for a few years, as well as the one downtown. There are many vendors at the Agricenter, and I love checking out the baked goods and the handmade jewelry. Some favorites of mine are the Rock Man, who sells rocks and collectibles, and Paradise Seafood. I also like the kiln fired jewelry that you can find there. The produce is always so fresh, and since we cook at home alot(or at least my husband cooks at home alot), we always enjoy the homegrown fruits and veggies.

There is nothing better than local fruits, veggies, plants, crafts and other homemade goodies. The Agricenter Farmer’s Market has it all. I go a lot in the summer and fall. Each season has it’s own unique offerings and it is fun to check to see what is there each week. Think Ripley tomatoes in the summer and pumpkins in the fall. You can find jams, jellies, baked goods, fresh flowers, handmade jewelry and pottery, soaps and carved wood among lots of other local treasures. Vendors have their own booths and policies so you may want to bring cash just to be safe as not all of them take credit cards. It’s convenient and easy to get too right off Germantown Parkway. I just picked up some Ripley tomatoes and bread this week and made the best BLT. I’ll be back next week for more!
