Service was great, menu selection was a little limited. Didn’t have to wait long for food, the server was really nice and the food was good as was the conversation with my fellow trucker friends. Lots of famous people come to eat at this restaurant.

I gave it 2 stars and im being nice bc the owners have allowed this place look like a «freaking shack.» I moved from memphis in 1999 and back then this place was not an «eye-sore.» The food is always good but how can you not invest in the building itself. The roof looks as if its about to collapse and you can smell the mold as soon as you walk in the bathrooms. There are water stains all over the ceiling tiles so I know there is a mold problem. Im surprise this restaurant passes all the fire codes. Im not coming back… Food good– building appearance is a safety/health hazard.

Yum, fried at its best. The coleslaw has pickle relish and is a nice added tangy touch. Catfish portions are much. Hush puppies for appetizers. Background music by Sade in apparent attempt to seduce you with the food when the food is enough of a seduction great. As I finish they play Chaka Khan.

Fast service and great food. Don’t do what I did and order too much food! I should have ordered off of the kiddie menu. Catfish was 8 – 10. Coleslaw and hush puppies 9 – 10. Value for quantity 10 – 10.

Ok. Here’s the deal. The catfish is good. Not great but it is a solid good. The price is why I rated it a three. It’s expensive. It tries real hard to be a fancier place than it is hence the higher prices. A typical fish dinner is going to cost you close to $ 16-$ 20 and for the south that’s a little high. The hush puppies are a stand out. The coleslaw taste like tarter sauce is incorporated in it with a heavy hand of sweet relish. The larger meals are easily shared. The fish isn’t heavily seasoned either. Would I come back? Maybe for the lunch specials Mon-Fri. I’m on the fence with this place but I would say give it a try.

This place has some amazing food in my opinion. My brother, Dad, and I decide to come come here for my dad’s birthday lunch which was cool and simple. I’ve ate here many times before growing up as a kid and the hush puppies are still the best part of the menu to me. One thing this business most improve on is the renovation of restoring this building other than that the fish and tenders was fulfilling –Mario

Awesome food. Got stranded at the airport and this is the closest non– chain restaurant I could find. Great Catfish and the best coleslaw I’ve ever had!

Very authentic feeling place. This is *not* dietetic cuisine, but it’s really, really good. I had grilled(yes, grilled) catfish, but the hushpuppies and the green tomatoes were fried. Yum! Friendly service.

The reviews are right – this place serves really good catfish. The building may turn you off, it’s a bit run-down but don’t mind it because really good food awaits you. The hush puppies were worth the trip alone. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because of a lack wiping down. The condiments, back of chairs, seats were greasy.

Stopped by the cabin after flying in to Memphis on the way to Jackson TN. Had never been but was hungry an wanted to try some local food. Had the catfish and fried shrimp and was not disappointed. The food was fried perfectly and not greasy at all. The waitress was very helpful and friendly and took care I our group of four. It’s rustic so don’t go expecting anything more than a down-home local catfish restaurant. It’s great. I will go back on my next stop through Memphis.

Not in the greatest looking area, but the community is on a rebound — starting with the recently opened Mata/Greyhound bus terminal. Love the catfish and they give you huge portions

Don’t let the out side of this location fool you. This is a restaurant where I first noticed a lot of locals eating. You will get your money’s worth in here with the large portion sizes. My wife and I had a combination Meal which included homemade crab cakes, catfish, chicken strips, and fried shrimp. It Also came with four sides so we decided to try the coleslaw, fries, fried corn, and hush puppies. The fish was ok at best, but not bad. It just didn’t have a good bite to it. The chicken strips were pretty good if you like chicken strips you will enjoy these. The crab cakes were good and had a good taste to them. The hush puppies were absolutely amazing from the first bite. The flavors jump out at you and the tarter type dipping sauce was also good. The hush puppies alone are worth the trip. The coleslaw was okay but really sweet. If you like a good sweet tea you wont be disappointed. The lemonade was good but nothing special. Although the waitress messed my drink order up and one of my sides her service was still good and the cashiers were very pleasant. If it wasn’t for the 2 mis Q’s by the waitress this would’ve been 4 stars.

Such a disappointment! Service — none, Food — poor, my catfish was«tough» like it had been cooked earlier, gotten cold and then flash fried to heat through. Had to wait 15 minutes after being seated to even get a waitress to come by my table. Had to wait another 10 minutes to get tea and she brought some cold hushpuppies because of my wait. Brought the 2 piece filet and 5 piece shrimp dinner(not what I ordered) but sides were not ready yet. Waited another 10 minutes for sides. Fried corn was inedible and tasted old. Coleslaw was watery and had lots of pickle relish in it. Lots of other customers were irritated with service and made comments about the catfish being tough and dry. Never again!

There are three catfish houses in the American South worth their weight in gold: The Dock restaurant on the tailrace canal in South Carolina; Catfish Charlie’s in Southern Mississippi; and the Catfish Cabin in Memphis! People who complain about the rustic nature of this place … just don’t get it. The rustic nature IS the ambiance … and the catfish is the star attraction. Even so, the back room with the wrought iron and the circular banquettes, hearkens back to an earlier time … when life appeared to be simpler, and everything could be solved, while discussing it over a big catfish dinner! In addition to perfect catfish(and lots of it), the okra is excellent, and the sweet tea is straight«sugar coma» and is just the way I like it. For dessert … try the banana pudding … what else! The staff is friendly, and the food is delivered fast. I vote with my wallet … and I vote here as often as I can. Enjoy!

I went here for a lunch meeting and was pleasantly surprised at the fried catfish basket. The catfish and cole slaw was very good. The fries were frozen and kind of mushy. I would certainly go here again for the fried catfish. Service was quick and friendly.

We ate at this restaurant in 2002 on a major roadtrip to the East Coast. It is one of those dining experiences where we award 50 Points to Gryffindor for this out of the way find. Hands down this place has become the standard for me when it comes to fried catfish and the hush puppies were yummy.
