This place is AMAZING! In fact, I am so completely in love with it that I’m hesitant to even write a review because I don’t want people stealing my cherished finds that I snatch up every time I come. My 1959 mint green typewriter is literally my favorite possession right now… yes, I NEED my computer… but I stare at that antique beauty for hours. I also scored an incredible Art Deco decanter with matching glasses, which is now proudly displayed in my dining room and gets comments from EVERYONE who walks in the door. The staff is incredibly kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. I can’t say enough nice things about this wonderful place. Support local, y’all!

This place has lots of unique pieces in excellent condition with that being said they are VERY pricey. I always find nice«wants» but they are never priced reasonably enough for me to splurge.

A really beautiful vintage store. No strange«vintage» smell. Everything really clean and in good condition. A huge selection of clothes, furniture and homewares. There’s also a good selection of retro style new items and gifts. Helpful staff and ample parking.

Love this shop. Great variety of new and old clothing, accessories, and housewares. Kind staff. One of the few places on Central that’s open on Monday mornings. Glad I had the chance to visit.

This is a great store. The folks who run it are not at all rude(as is suggested in some of the reviews). They welcome people in who are careful and curious– who either already love decades past, or who would like to love them. The store itself is an experience for the eyes and for the soul. I strongly recommend anyone who would like some wonderful things for their home to come in– and to get real guidance from the kind, caring people who work there.

I stopped shopping here after a decade, when I had to deal with blatant, rude«customer service» by one older lady who treated me as if she really didn’t care to sell anything to me. Dismissive, bored, and condescending would sum her up in three words. This kind of shop was fun years ago, but anybody can find better priced items online now. I would be kinder, but this store made it clear that my business was not desired.

Millett Vance curates one hell of a «vintage department store»! This place was the first store I visited in Memphis when I arrived in 2007. I shopped there regularly when I lived in Cooper-Young, bringing my out-of-town guests by to choose from the excellent collections of clothing, accessories, furniture, and home goods. The store is pristine, well-organized, and fun!

Memphis is lucky to have such an organized, well stocked vintage store. It is like stepping back into 1964. I’ve been to many across the land, and this one is well stocked. Of course, it comes with a price. And they have many new items with a retro flare, such as koosies and cigarette cases. I’m not sure who runs this place, but it is organized to the hilt. All like items are together. Items include cookie jars, bars(furniture), glasses, kitchenware, typewriters, salt and pepper shakers, Members Only jackets(!), dresses, jeans, suits and coats, drapes, cufflinks, black velvet paintings, wall art, Elvis statues, black velvet paintings of Elvis, etc. I must share this story. One guy was trying out the manual typewriters and asked«Now how to you get it down to the next line? There is no Return button.» Everyone giggle. :)

This place makes me so happy. I could spend hours in here and not get bored. They have a great selection of clothes, shoes, accessories, housewares, and tchotchkes, and the store itself is staged so beautifully. It’s a little pricey, so I’ve never been able to go all-out and buy everything I want. I’ve mainly picked up a few little items, but it’s definitely worth your time and money to visit Flashback. I assumed that the staff would be a little snobbish, but they’ve been really friendly every time I’ve been. A friend and I even came in about a half hour before closing time on a Saturday(and felt really bad about it, honestly), but the guy working was really nice and helpful and didn’t give us any bitchy, impatient vibes. All-around cool shop. I can’t wait to return with a significant amount of cash to drop.

Wish more places like this were around. Been going there for over 29 years. We bought many items, what stands out the most is this red 50’s table and 2 black stools we still have. Greet quality.

When Memphis wants vintage, Memphis goes to Flashback. Seriously, stepping into this place is like stepping back in time. I went shopping with a girlfriend here not so long ago, and she actually found her prom dress, folks! Everything from vintage jeans, retro dresses, hats, scarves, and shoes can be found here as well as kitschy kitchen accessories, furniture, lamps, and glassware. It’s definitely fun to windowshop but that’s all I’ve ever done here. Yes, this is a second hand store, but shop with caution. Prices are higher, and by higher I mean WAY higher, than other thrift stores. Happy shopping!

Flashback definitely takes the cake in the way of retro/vintage shopping in Memphis. They have a huge selection of vintage clothing and shoes and a pretty fabulous collection of furniture, lamps and chatchkeys from the 40s through the 70s. It is extremely clean and organized, and I particularly like the way they stage everything. Different sections of the store are set up like a living room or kitchen– so you can get an idea of how fab these items would look in your home. If I won the lottery, I would promptly purchase the entire store and decorate my home immediately. There are some wonderful items here– including an authentic boomerang table and flamingo lamp, both of which I would give up my first born child to own. Judging by the pricetags, I would have to. There is no way I could afford to purchase items from this store. The boomerang table was $ 300 and I spotted a fabulous 70s floral printed melamine serving tray for $ 50. Who buys a melamine tray for $ 50?! I thought retro and vintage items in Chicago were pricey, but this place takes the cake. I agree with David M, you could find these exact items on EBay or Craigslist for half the price– even with shipping. I adore you Flashback! Could you now lower your prices so I can become a frequent flyer? Thanks!

This is for the lover of all things retro. I was drawn in, as usual, by the lighted sign on the outside, and was kind of stunned by how much stuff was crammed into the store. Nicely displayed, of course. The shop owner obviously takes pride in finding some of the harder to find retro items, many of the would make great conversation pieces. I spotted an old milkshake blender that I’d love for my counter top. Who doesn’t need a porcelain fiftes-style teddy bear alarm clock? Also spotted were genie lamps and those plastic pink yard flamingos. The place is a riot.

I love little places like this. Me and a friend of mine went by here to get some clothing for a party at our school. The clothing didn’t really fit me. Most of the stuff I was looking for was a bit too small, but I still love this place. It’s littered completely with awesomeness. It has so many small items that no one can find anywhere anymore like fishnet tights… or if they can, its at special stores in the mall. This place makes me doubly happy because its cool enough to have its own mini-cooper. I think I’ve found a new favorite thrift store.

Flashback has a pretty big selection of vintage clothing and accessories — on a recent trip, I bought a white Jackie-O style dress and some black reproduction vintage ruffle panties. I’ve never bought jeans there, but they have a huge selection of vintage Levis. They’ve also got furniture, housewares and accessories. I’ve bought two of my pairs of vintage glasses there.

Considering the fact that there are few places in town to buy retro clothes and home décor, this place is pretty much your best bet for all things vintage. The store has a mix of old and new items, but like David said, it is pricey! Whenever I’m back in town I find myself here perusing the pillows, furniture, cute kitchen accessories, and clothing items. I usually find something there that makes a great gift for someone back home in Atlanta.
