Overbooked our room and had nothing even remotely the same to accommodate us. Found out on the day we were driving in, but only after we called to confirm our reservation. Hugh the manager did not seem very sympathetic and kept telling us different things. First there was connecting rooms available, then there wasn’t. Got tired of his incompetence so we canceled and booked at the residence in by the railroad tracks. Not sure if the trains will keep us up all night or not but at least we have a suite for our 4 person family. Also the last time we stayed two months ago there was what looked like blood on the sheets. The security guard was running errands for the front desk and had to bring us some new sheets. They weren’t even the right size either. Management here is a joke. Not sure if it’s a new manager or what but I dont believe anyone would rate 5 stars with this crew running the hotel.

Four hours later and I’m still waiting for towels to be delivered. Two king size beds and a pull out sofa in the suite and only 3 sets of towels. There is a children’s party going on in the hotel and the pool was way too crowded to use. The floor lamp not working in the living room so it was a little dark. However, all in all, the room was nice. Two king size beds and a full kitchen. We were very comfortable with the room.

Our room was more on the dirty side than clean. We had ants on the outside of our door, dirty kitchen towels and sheets had some dirt. Extra blanket in closet was covered in grass. Breakfast was good until hotel got crowded. Then hotel food ran out quickly. I would not stay here again.

I love the Hilton chain. This Hampton Inn captures the energy of Germantown. The hospitality is true southern style. We felt comfortable enough to feel at home but regarded enough to feel as guest. The location was great as there is shopping and dining nearby. The morning breakfast hours were 7am until 10am for those of us late risers; and they didn’t run out of food. The first night the Wifi was down because of a storm but by the second day everything was up and running. I really appreciated the USB connector though out the room alongside the electrical outlets. That made it easier to charge all our gadgets.

Stayed here with hubby when he came to help out the Memphis location of his business. The rooms were nice and breakfast was good. Love the Southwind location; very close to where I like to shop.

Update of an earlier review from January 2014: Down a notch after 4-nite stay. Some evidence of behind on maintenance. Carpets dirty like a busy airport with some torn wallpaper. Room was clean with well-functioning AC. Like the suite arrangement. TV in bedroom and living area. All rooms are the same, so no upgrades offered. Friendly and helpful staff. Jessica running the breakfast area on weekends is a delight. Pool is shut down and it is only September in warm Memphis. Electronic key entry into building in need of maintenance and attention. Maybe it’s me, but the complimentary coffee seems to have been cheapened. Does not taste like Arabica bean coffee, so had to make separate stop at either Starbucks or DD each morning – both nearby. If you want the coffee, the cups are the size of thimbles. About 25 mins from airport. Business Tip: Only one meeting room for business… so book early if you need it. I was too late. Small Gripe Continues: Still requires multiple Wi-Fi log-ins and sometimes multiple times in one day with same device. Works but administratively crappy service. Small Gripe II: Happy Hour ends too early to be useful to business people. Overall, still a decent property but attention by management is needed. Diamond Member

This place has gone downhill. I have stayed here in the past many times and this time was the worst. They are cutting corners! They couldn’t get me a room till 4pm and at 4:15 they could not get me the room I requested/booked. If I wanted at room I had to downgrade. Evening Reception, don’t expect to have wine unless you ask, they hide the wine! If you ask for multiple glasses they frown. Went to get my own bottle at the store, ask for a cork screw and they tell you they don’t have one, really!!!

This hotel is great. I send a lot of business to the hotel and our employees love it their. Alyssa, Sarah and the whole crew always go out of their way to make the guests feel welcome. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are in Memphis for an extended stay.

I stay at this hotel once a year. It is nice and a great value for the money. The rooms are set with bed on one side and some are divided to a second room with couch and TV. It is nice to kick back on the couch versus some hotels with beds only. Southwind has a great full breakfast each morning. Also they provide dinner and wine/beer happy hour.

I have stayed here for business for years and they do the best job at making you feel like part of the family. The extended stay hotels try to foster a community spirit and this hotel does a great job at that. From the homemade breakfasts to the welcome home dinner, you always feel happy to return to your hotel after a long hard day. The dinning area is very large with high ceilings and big comfy chairs. The rooms are very clean and outside seating next to the pool is a nice touch. Although this is by no means a bad area, they have security patrolling the parking lot. They even left a note on my car saying that they cleaned my windshield this morning. The full service gas stations don’t even do that anymore.
