I’ve already praised the Collierville location of I.O. up and down and back again. We purchased a down filled over-sized chair here for our nursery and had intended on returning to purchase an ottoman to go with the chair. For those who did not read my previous review– we were waiting to find the sex of the baby and had patterns picked out for either to custom upholster said ottoman. I stopped in this Ridgeway location the other day as it is much closer, and I just wanted to get it ordered and done with as I suspected it would take a bit of time to come in. This location is like a closet compared to the one in Collierville– much bigger selection and greater products to choose from out there. Totally worth the drive. In fact, as I found myself wandering around, I realized I would never have given this place a second chance had I first visited this Ridgeway location. I was a little put off as there were only 2 other customers in the store and I stood around for a good 15 minutes with the fabric of choice in hand waiting for someone to acknowledge my presence. When a salesman finally did, I felt as though I wasn’t given the best choice I could have. We paid $ 350 for the chair, and it was going to cost me $ 575 for a custom upholstered ottoman– less than half the size of the chair– we’re talking tiny folks. The funniest part is these same ottomans on the floor in patterns not to my liking were only $ 175. So there’s a $ 300 mark up for custom upholstery on an ottoman at I.O. That doesn’t make any sense to me, and I had half a mind to just drive out to the Collierville location and pay my first sales woman a visit. As it turns out, I made a Target run afterward and found the perfect ottoman for $ 25 bucks. Sold. I still love I.O., but will be visiting the Collierville location in the future. Wasn’t too impressed with the way I was treated at this location and as I stated before, the selection out there puts this one to shame. Plus, you have an excuse to make other purchases going out there since it is in the mall.

Their tag line is «A different Kind of Furniture Store». And honestly, it really is. I love it! My sister originally turned me onto this place. She bought some furniture there and needed to go pick it up. I drive a ridiculously huge suburban so I got volunteered to help her out. Well, when I got there, I couldn’t help but browse around a bit. There were so many cool things to look at. The furniture and accessories are very trendy, very modern, with clean lines and fun and funky pieces mixed in. They sell paintings and art, lamps, mirrors and even some bedding. The best part is how reasonably priced everything is. I actually ended up buying a pair of end tables for about $ 150 each!!! And they are super unique and I’ve gotten tons of compliments on them. This is definitely one of my favorite new shopping discoveries of the year.

I have found my favorite(for now) furniture store in Memphis. The showroom is a soothing combination of lines and textures, with little extras like Archipelago candles to add a nice scent to your living space. Beautiful, mostly earth-toned abstract paintings on canvas cover the walls and the furniture is pleasantly clean-lined and mostly non-frilly. Just modern with enough pattern here and there to add an extra punch of interest and style to a room. It’s not cheap, $ 199 for an upholstered straight-back desk chair, but it’s all high-quality and classic enough that I could comfortably add to my home without the concern that it would be out of style in a year.
