Super sad to see that this place closed. While the service was lackluster, the boils were absolutely amazing. The JJ’s seasoning was like crack! I was very sad when my friends and I showed up here tonight and the doors were locked. I hope they reopen.

Great concept for Memphis if they got their act together. Nowhere else to get a Cajun boil, but like every other Unilocal review, service is HORRENDOUS! Plan a night. Waited over 15 minutes for a server, then close to an hour for the food. Social security check had a better chance of arriving.

Stopped in on a whim with my bride and one of my daughters. We got one of the boil bags with the JJ Seasoning. The food was great, but we should have gotten some sides. The bag description says potato and it means potato. Singular. I’m not sure if I will be back, I’m not used to spending $ 55 for three folks and leaving hungry. Service was good, the atmosphere is unpretentious and practical.

Hands down, best crawfish in town! Glad to see the service improve. Keep up the great job JJ’s! Order crawfish with JJ’s mild or JJ’s hot(so good!)

One of my favorite places to have crawfish done right in Memphis! Theres no other place like JJs in Memphis. I usually order 5lbs Super Js + Hot flavoring. The crawfish is decent size here. Sometimes they have jumbo crawfish that you can ask for $ 1 more per lb. The flavor that they use has just the right kick and spice to what us Asians would expect. Full bar, Friendly staff, Pool table, plenty of tvs to watch your favorite games and crawfish! What else do u want?! Other eats such as catfish baskets, steak n lobster and Cajun boil bags of all different kind of assortments are available as well. They have good amount of seating and can host private parties as well. Come and try it out. You won’t be disappointed! #choose901

The food is always great but the service sucks! And they that out 18% gratuity at 7p on all checks. No matter how many party are in tour party. Just don’t go hungry on the weekend. Your wait will be long

Dear Owner. Don’t let ur staff run u out of business. The reason your place is empty is your wait and bar staff Is the worst I’ve ever seen. their rude and can’t make drinks. A double no-no…they are killing ur biz. the kitchen is great. Well prepared and tasty. get new help. and lower ur food prices. a tad… and u won’t be able to find s seat in the place! Good luck!

If you don’t want to read my whole review, the summary is at the end. My girlfriend and I wanted to have some seafood for Valentine’s Day, and after some researching we thought this place would be cool. We arrived at around 6:45 p. m, and it was half empty. Nobody greets you when you get there, so we just sat ourselves and after a few minutes a waitress came. We ordered ½ dozen Oysters as appetizers, a Red Maine boil to share, and a few extra sides. I asked the girl what the Boom-Boom sauce was(Oyster sauce) and she responded with«Its just a special sauce, I don’t know». That wasn’t a good sign. Took about 15 minutes to get our Oysters. They were very cold and didn’t really taste like anything. I had to flag down the waitress as she forgot about the sauce. Shortly after, I had to call her again she never brought us napkins. Then I had to ask for a fork. You see where this is going. Eventually they brought our Red Main boil. This was the one good thing about the whole experience. The king crab was amazing(My gf devoured it), the lobsters were good and everything else in it was tasty. I did also ask for a side of corn and another of cole slaw. The corn was good, the cole slaw not so much. At this point things got ridiculous. It was as if this girl had never worked as a waitress before. She brought 1 fork for 2 people. I had to flag her several times until she brought us 1 seafood cracker so we could actually eat our crab(again, 1 for 2 people). She never brought any sauces, salt, nothing. I got 1 refill in the entire meal and that’s because I specifically asked her to do it. Me and my girl ended up just sharing my drink so we wouldn’t have to spend 10 more minutes begging her to refill hers. When it was time to pay, they whole thing took way too long. I dreaded her leaving because every time she did I knew I wouln;t see her for at least 10 more minutes. We were there about 25 – 30 more minutes just waiting to pay, at which time I had to basically move because a few people were playing pool right beside us. The only reason I am not giving this place a lower rating is because the other two waitresses seemed to be more on top of it, so maybe I just picked the wrong section. Still I don’t understand why would you have such a terrible waitress in your restaurant. Is not only that she failed at a customer service, but she was plain rude. She never said her name, or much of a word for that matter, not even a «thanks for coming» after we endured her service without so much of a rude comment. In summary: 2.5÷5 Pro’s: –Great seafood boils –Cool concept –Good area Cons: –Hit or miss food –Bad layout –Terrible service

SMDHNOW ive never been so bored in my life. My husband and I came to this place for a nice valentines seafood dinner cause we knew red lobster would be pack tight so we came to jj plus we had never been and wanted to check it out. First and foremost when you enter no one greeted you it was a self seat(which is stupid, no customer service) then we sat for 20mins til someone came to take our drink order, once she came she looked confused I just ordered water and looked over the menu. After about 20 more mins past she took our order. I just ordered a combo meal(whatever the bleep that was) it was 2 pityful catfish strips a billion(cold) fries and a roll. It was so so but captain dees taste better! I picked at my food my husband ate his. So all on all it was and EPICFAIL! Oh yea… ITWASCOLLLDDDDASHECKINTHERE. I had my coat on the whole time. You could tell everyone there was saying the same thing and started leaving. I want be back! TRUST!

Very nice environment and friendly staff. Food is seasoned perfectly, portion is definitely more than what you pay for. Would certainly recommend and revisit soon.

I was here for the New England playoff game. Service was a little slow. My girlfriend said she doesn’t think it was slow at all. The shrimp«egg rolls» were both interesting and fantastic. They have all kinds of different seasonings choices for their boils. We ordered a medium hot JJ’s spice and it was almost on the brink of being too hot but it was just right. We had the lowest priced boil, the Artic boil for 40 bucks. It was the best boil I have ever had. Note that it does include Alaskan king crab but it is the leg with the claw. I understood but didn’t like how they automatically added an 18% tip for two people sitting at the bar. Its not that I mind paying it ‚ but it gives you a little sticker shock when you get the bill. Combine sales tax with 18% and the bill turns out to be almost 30% higher than you were expecting. I will be going here again to watch the game and I will drop by and pick up a boil bags to go whenever I’m in the neighborhood

Within the first few months of opening I was a regular customer because the food was great. Service and price was decent. Now being open for almost a year, you would think that things would improve but it has gotten worse. Food is not good and service is horrible. The owner is even rude. They charged tip on my party of 4 and said they can charge tip after 7. This place is not worth it at all.

Stopped by here on a food tour of Memphis. Their crawfish will set fire to your taste buds and lips with a fury of seasoning that cannot be forgotten. It is that distinct and good.

Sports bar feel with very good food. I had the red main boil. Yum. You can select your seasoning and how spicy it is. I could not bare to ruin any of the spicy flavorful food with drawn butter. Food was great but they lost a star for poor beer selection and wait service. Just went back there again. Beer selection and service have improved. Added 1 star. Would I go back? Yes!

Came here for dinner… really big restaurant. Didn’t see a lot of people but found out that’s because they’re new. Our waitresses Courtney(she was in training) and Christian were excellent. Since it was our first time eating here they explained our the steam/boiled buckets were cooked and served. They also suggested the fried calamity… I have never been a fan of calamari but I loved it! It wasn’t chewy at all. We ordered the JJ’s Seafood Bucket and when I tell you that I could taste the seasoning all through the seafood. I highly recommend this place… they have good food, good customer service, and good fun. Karaōke on Wednesday and Sundays.

Had lunch here today. I wanted to like it; it’s new, and I like seafood. I ordered a fried fish basket. The fries are good. The rest was between okay and poor: –The fried fish was rather dark, as if the oil hadn’t been changed in a long time. –The seasoning of the fish batter was mostly salt; little other flavor was present. –The price was about double that of equivalent dishes at nearby fast food places serving the same fare. –The wait time between ordering and receiving food was triple or quadruple that of local fast food joints with the same fare. –I compare to fast food joints because, although the décor inside is decent, the food is served in plastic baskets with plastic cutlery, etc… –The attention from wait staff toward beverage refills, etc… was below average. I benchmark restaurants by their equivalents in the fast food world… if the price is twice as much, and the wait is quadruple, I would expect the food and service to be twice as good, at minimum. Instead, for food quality alone, I would choose the local fast food seafood chain over this every time, for JJ’s food was only about half as good. Bottom line: It was nowhere worth the wait or expense, not by a long shot.

Came here for lunch yesterday. Inside was very spacious, but empty. They had a bar area, and lots of tables and chairs with tv’s everywhere. Although it was empty, it was very clean. They have a HUGE chalkboard w/their whole menu on it as well as small menu’s that you would get at any other restaurant. This place has, I believe, 3 different kinds of boil combo’s, which had an assortment of snow crab, king crab, shrimp, lobster, and some mussels, with some sausages, corn, and potatoes as sides. There are also 2 special boils called the shipwreck and the titanic which was not on the menu. In addition to these portions, there are different seasonings and spicy levels that you can choose. These were basically just bigger weight portions of one of the boils on the menu. Being adventurous, we went ahead and got an appetizer of calamari, which was good and definately appetizing, as well as the Titanic which was 2lbs of king crab, 2lbs of snow crab, 2 lobsters, 1 – 2 lbs of shrimp, and in addition sausages, corn, and potatoes. This GINORMOUS feast fed 3 grown men and left them very satisfied. The seasoning we got was called the JJ’s special which had a spicy garlic and salt taste which was AMAZING to the taste. Overall, this place is just amazing and I hope to see that this place gets big and here to stay.
