Memphis Pizza Cafe

First trip to Memphis Pizza Café and I’ll be back. I thought Aldo’s was the best, but Memphis Pizza is better and not as expensive. I judge my pizzas by the crust and the tomato sauce. Both were great. Thin and truly crispy crust with a robust sauce. We also got a calzone that was amazing. Service was quick as was the pizza. My only regret was not sitting on the back patio but that gives me a reason to go back…

This is the hippest location for MPC I’ve been to in Memphis. Love the location and interior décor. Very cozy and has a completely different feel from the other locations I’ve been to. The food is up to par with MPC’s usual deliciousness. The folks that work there are very friendly. We happened to be there at a time when the place was fairly swamped. It took our server some time to get to us, and it took a while to get their attention when we needed something. But it was very understandable considering how busy the place was. We were a big group and ended up getting the veggie pizza, salads, and sandwiches. All very delicious.
I would definitely come here again though, and would recommend this place for a good date night when you’re not looking for something fancy for a special occasion. Also keep in mind that parking will be a bit of a hassle considering the location of this place. It will take a while to find a spot especially if you don’t want to pay for parking.

Our group went to Memphis Pizza Café for lunch recently. What a treat. We all decided on the Calzone. Of course all the cheeses blended wonderfully with our «extra ingredients» — incredible flavor and texture. We decided that the crust tasted somewhat like those little Oyster Crackers you put in soup. This added a nice touch that was unexpected.
Our wait staff were courteous and professional which made our experience a good one. I haven’t had the pizza — yet — but I will simply have to go back to try it out before too much longer. If you’re not sure what to get, try the Calzone — I’m glad I did.

Not good pizza. I must admit it has been a while since my last time in but the kitchen used to be gross. Service can be slow but I have found the servers to be nice and pretty well handle things. This is one of my «why would you go here when there are so many better places» places.

The pizza crust here is different than most pizza joints. It was nice and crisp! We really enjoyed the Café pizza with a substitution of black olives instead green peppers. We would probably add jalapeños next time. The sauce isn’t flavorful. Overall though, good pizza. It also doesn’t hurt that their patio is right next to the plaza stage.

Yummy!!! This place is must when you want a good pizza and an adult beverage in Midtown. The vibe is hip, staff friendly, pizza delicious, and a great back patio. The Greek salad is super yummy. And all the pizzas are great. Thin crust and even gluten free options! I loved this 15 years ago and do today. Glad I stopped in while I was back in my old stomping ground!

Love memphis pizza café out east… but midtown was a huge let down tonight. We waited an hour for what takes 20 minutes out east. When we asked what took so long she acted like we were out of line for even bringing it up. We pointed out several tables were eating that came in 20 minutes after us and she looked at me like I was speaking Chinese. Pizza was good… service was awful.

My favorite pizza place in Memphis. Awesome cheese bread and the crust is crispy. My go to spot for pizza!

This was one of my favorite places until a waitress problem for no reason, i always tip well and you have to deal with different people, all the other waitresses are sweet and nice, but it will be uncomfortable unless this one isn’t there

Good pizza, cool hang. Very relaxed — I’m here at a conference for two weeks and this is the only place I’ve been to twice.
Pizzas quick, the beer is cold. Honestly I don’t get the comments about the burnt crust. I need more char on my pie. If you want a pale, flabby pie go to a chain. These folks do well.

Love This Place!!! Can honestly say that in all the time we’ve been frequenting (sometimes twice in one week) we’ve never had a bad experience. Food is always fresh & fab & the faces are always smiling.

I got around to trying Memphis Pizza Café last Saturday night and my experience can be summed up as: Meh.
Our waitress was sweet and accommodating considering we ended up with more people than I expected and had to switch tables. I love that they offer slices any time of the day. That’s a great selling point for me, as I love trying all the different specialties a place has to offer… that is, if the pizza were better. I tried a slice of their version of supreme. The toppings seemed fresh and there was plenty of meat, but the crust was awful. Now, I love a well-​executed thin crust, but this was not that. It was thin, but crunchy as can be. Think: a crappy, off-​brand grocery store pizza made in your oven. At least it was pretty cheap; my bill for a slice and a beer was about 8.
I think this place could be alright if they modified their crust recipe. Otherwise I won’t bother going back, especially with incredible places like High Point Pizza and Little Italy so close by.

It’s a good place to grab a slice of pie and a few drinks. Only been to the midtown location and loved it. Only reason it’s not five stars is the dining area is a little cluttered and it lacks an excellent atmosphere.

I look at my prior review and I don’t even remember ever having such tepid feelings for MPC.
A few weeks ago, I picked up pizza for myself & my dear old mom stuck in hospital for a week. I spontaneously ordered a slice of pizza, no mozz with feta, bacon and spinach along with a slice of veggie for mom.
This slice was magically delicious — truly the best slice of pizza I ever have had. I tasted it before heading back to hospital and found myself, a woman if a certain age, mother of 2 grown young men, gobbling down a slice of pizza in my car as I drove. Pizza while driving could be dangerous but I in the thrall of MPC’s pizza creation for me, made it safely and full back to hospital with mom’s slice still warm and intact.
The folks at MPC are great and friendly, relaxed atmosphere, and delicious pizza. Decent wine at decent prices too.

We stopped into MPC looking for a casual place to relax and have a pizza after a day walking around midtown. That’s pretty much exactly what we found. The inside reminds me of the many a college pizza joint, with a little bit of wear and beer signs on the walls.
The pizza was good if a little on the dry/​done side, the beer was cold, and it was a good value. The side salads that come with the pizza are very much «pizza place» salads, basically just lettuce and tomatoes. The service was a little slow all around but not excessively so.
Nothing about it was particularly outstanding but it was a nice, relaxed time here and I will stop in again if I’m in the area looking for some pizza.

MPC, we used to be on good terms. I wouldn’t have called you my favorite, but you would do in a pinch. Now I will say absolutely, never again, ever ever.
Over-​priced, bland, boring, BLAH.
The best thing I can say about this place is that the servers are always friendly towards me.
Not to mention the following day I was kept on the commode for about 45 minutes, on 2 separate trips. I am done with this place for good. Pyros, Little Italy (preferred place for me), or even Mellow Mushroom.
Buyer beware, this place is not an accurate representation of the quality of food I expect out of Midtown restaurants.

We weren’t expecting too much after reading the reviews here but we had a great dining experience. Our waitress was a little odd but once we got past that the food was great. We started with a simple salad and then had slices of pizza afterwards and each one was really good.

I got a slice of the Hawaiian and a slice of the Buffalo. Neither one was anything special but I was annoyed that the Hawaiian’s crust was burnt to the point where I tasted nothing but burn on one bite! My friend got a drink and was pleased that our waitress Kaleigh brought out a drink with an orange slice along with it as usually people just bring out the bottle.
I liked that they let me use their bathroom while I was at the Thursday Squared event on Overton Square next door. They also gave me a cup of water for free when I asked. So they were pretty cool there, but their food just wasn’t up to my standards.

Salty, slow, and sub-​par.
Waited 40 minutes for pizza to arrive after ordering while others around us got their pizzas first. Had a 20 minute gap in the space-​time continuum in which the waitress seemed to forget about us. When the food arrived, I bit into my sandwich to taste… salt. And more salt. I felt like I was biting into a sodium stick that had a bit of meat flavor.
The portions for the half salad/​half sandwich were fairly generous and you did get some chips with the sandwich, but overall it wasn’t very interesting. I had a slice of pizza that my dining companions had ordered and it tasted about as dull as a Digiorno.
I don’t get the loyalty so many Memphians have to MPC. I’m sure I’ll have another chance though for an MPC to impress since they’re everywhere these days.
