Just finished my last cup of the Ethiopian roast from Relevant that I purchased back in mid November. Delicious! I was on a week long business trip in Memphis. My mornings always necessitate a good cup of coffee to get the day rolling in the right direction. Fortunately, after a little internet research, I found Relevant Roasters. As luck would have it, they were on our route to our job site. They take their coffee seriously. The quality is outstanding. I live in Portland Oregon, where coffee teeters on a religion. In the five days I was in Memphis, we visited Relevant 4 times. I wasn’t aware of them until after Monday.

Hidden surprise.(Slightly difficult to find –unless you’re expecting to find a lovely little café surrounded by warehouses.) Great economy-sized space. Possibly the café version of a super cool tiny house? This modern bare-bones-but-sleek café doubles as a coffee roasting operation.(Or vice versa.) Coffee drinks and locally made pastries etc, free Wifi, music via Sonos speakers, local artists’ work on display, friendly staff.

Open Sundays now and a really good alternative to the crazy expensive coffee nearby. I will be hitting up Relevant Roasters on a regular basis unless something changes! Bought some of their beans to take home as well and was very pleased.

I have been to this place three times now. I have to admit that I have enjoyed it just a bit more every time that I have visited. I have had the drip, which is great, a iced vanilla latte that was really good and the iced Horchata which is absolutely ridiculous! Honestly, this is the drink that makes me want to go back. It is very cool that this local roasting company opened up a store front on the edge of a surging neighborhood. Broad Avenue now has two of the best coffee houses in a 200 mile radius! I wish they would add a few local treats/pastries, but not a deal breaker at all.

Dropped by their warehouse and roasting facility and the team stopped their work and made me a pour over to let me try a cup. Great coffee and kind and knowledgable people. Definitely recommend dropping in and meeting the team and trying a cup and buying a pound or two of their coffee.

Two disaster relief missionaries with a penchant for fresh roasted coffee are currently staying at our house. We visited Jimmy Lewis, the owner, for coffee and back story of his wonderful six month old business roasting fresh coffee for clientele, restaurants and groceries. He buys beans from all over the world and roasts them on site. Wonderful storyteller as well who has a real passion for coffee. They are open for visitors by appointment or on Saturdays from 9 am to 12 pm for tasting a fresh brew and purchase of their many coffees. They also do custom blends and roast to order. We bought four bags between us.
