The cashier was super sweet. The manager was not kind to his employees. He would shout out orders to the lobby, in a fussy tone. Burgers were not impressive. Best thing our group had was chicken strips.

Nope. Nope. If I know 2 things, it’s that Chazz Michael Michaels IS figure skating, and that this place(Sam’s Hamburgers) is bad. I went here for lunch about 2 months ago, since I didn’t really know what type of food I was in the mood for, and knew they had a variety of different kinds. It was my first time at this location(I’ve gone to the South Main location a few times), and the interior was about as dirty as the other one. I walked in, spun around a few times to look at the several different food stations and lines they had, and chose the taco stand because I have a weakness for tacos and burritos. I ended up ordering the two chicken burritos and drink combo. The service was slug-like and after about 10 minutes I got my order and sat down at a table. I wasn’t expecting anything mind-blowingly amazing from a place that specialized in Hamburgers, but this was like opening one of those christmas presents where the box is for a 70 inch TV and then you open it up and there’s used medical waste inside instead. Right before I took my first bite, I looked up at a neon sign that listed some of their offerings. Don’t expect a good burrito if the giant neon sign in front of your face spells it «Burrittos». The burrito was essentially a flour tortilla wrapped around an ounce of unseasoned and overcooked pieces of diced chicken(I hope it was chicken at least…), with a pound of shredded lettuce, a pinch of diced tomatoes, and some Kroger shredded cheddar cheese. I don’t need to describe how bad it was or inform you that I only ate half of one, because I’m hoping you get the idea. They do serve a mean Diet Coke out of a dirty fountain though. I can’t speak to the rest of their food at that location, but their South Main location does make an above average burger. If you are not willing to take a chance and are trying this place for the first time, I’d stick with the burger. Go to the taco stand at risk of true sadness and frustration over a misspelled neon sign.

If your have ever been in Burger King and thought, «this burger is too gourmet for my tastes» then Sam’s might be your place. This place has the personality of a cafeteria and the service that goes with it. The fries were okay, but the burger was drab just like they used to make in the high school cafeteria. With burgers like these, Memphis is ripe for a 5 Guys invasion.

We stopped in for lunch here because everywhere else was closed.((If you are looking for a late lunch, don’t look in Downtown Main Street!)) It was not bad, especially for the price. The place didn’t really specialize in anything. They were just a little fast food joint with taco salad, gyros, hot dogs, burgers, wings, etc. They also have a little ice cream shop. I was confused, at first, because I ordered the gyro and they just gave me the pita, meat & sauce — no lettuce or tomatoes. Turns out, there is a Topping Bar in the back that they neglected to mention. If one of my party hadn’t noticed, I’d have had a really disappointing meal. For a $ 5 sandwich, it was definitely worth the money. And since they were the only place that was open after 2pm I wasn’t going to complain. The dining room was pretty bare and a little dirty, but it wasn’t unpleasant.

I haven’t even finished this hamburger yet and I’m here to write a review about how bad it is. This thing is ALMOST inedibly bad. I was immediately suspect of it when they handed me the bag before my credit card finished authorizing. The last time I had a burger this bad it was at a school cafeteria, and it was MUCH cheaper. For $ 5.38 for a burger and fries, I better get something at least on par with a drive-through fast food place. This thing is bland, chewy, and completely lifeless. It sort of has the consistency of a pork sausage patty. That’s it, I can’t finish more than half of it. The fries were better, but they were still completely mediocre.

Best. Taco. Salad. Ever. I’m serious– I could eat this taco salad every single day. Sam’s Hamburgers & More 2 serves just about everything– breakfast fare including eggs, sausage, biscuits and omelettes to hamburgers and fried chicken wraps to the famous taco salad and the cheesy goodness that is their pizza. Big fan here. They also have baked potatoes loaded with your choice of italian beef, grilled chicken, or chili cheese and topped with sour cream, bacon, tomatoes, salsa– you name it– you can get it your way. Kids will love the corn dogs, hot dogs, french fries and onion rings. Families will also enjoy wings, gyros or nachos supreme. For the more healthy-minded customer, choose turkey wraps, veggie salad wraps, or tuna salad wraps.
