Finding ourselves in need of a little NYE bubbly, we were happy to see The Wine Shop open Nice to see mostly local wines w/a few others in there as well — we really liked the fact he had pre-chilled bottles so we could take our choice & make the best of it The Mr likes the dry stuff, I like the sweeter stuff so Scharffenberger Rose was the recommendation We found it too sweet — even for me… but wasn’t so much so that the whole bottle disappeared before we knew it Best part was that there was no headache the following morning — awesome!

it was cold and foggy, we were thirsty, and there were very few dog-friendly places to be had. cue angels singing! the owner was friendly, chatty and just a peach(I AM a sucker for dog lovers). the tasting was well-priced with generous pours of mostly local wines. found a bottle of some bubbly I’d been looking for, at a very reasonable price. would’ve walked out with more had the husband not physically restrained me.

On the main drag in what looked to be a renovated home. Property was beautiful with unique coastal flowers and colorful plants. Tasting area is small and quaint. Great service with knowledgable staff. Pricing is high. Nice experience!

We stopped in for an impromptu wine tasting on a Saturday afternoon. The wines were nice, prices seemed mostly reasonable, and they seemed to have a pretty good selection. Definitely a good place to stop for a nice bottle of Mendocino County wine.

We didn’t get to a winery while in the area, so stopped by here for a tasting. We were the first ones there on a Friday, so it was nice and quiet. $ 10 for 5 tastings, 4 of which were local and one was from Napa. Overall the wines were good, but the Pinot Noir was definitely the best. Mark, the owner, was friendly and we had a nice chat about wine, weather, and football! Enjoyable way to spend a little time tasting some local wines.

The sis wanted wine before we headed out to the beach and so we went to «downtown» which is funny because it’s literally just a block filled with stores… anyway, I saw the sign and so we stopped by to check it out. The place is tiny but definitely packing /storing some good good good wines! The sis found that they had in stock wines from Pride Winery and so she stocked up. I think she bought the remaining bottles the store had. The owner was very friendly and he suggested Baxter Pinot Noir for us to take for our beach day… we were a bit hesitant… well let’s just put it this way… when the sis was opening it, she said to me «Damn Cands, this better be some good wine since its 55 $!» and of course, I gulped and crossed my fingers that they were… Lo and behold, they were! Perfect wine for our perfect day at the beach with Jameson. Thus, if you’re looking for some wine to drink while in town or just to take home with you…(that’s if you’re not hitting up Andersen Valley where all the good wines are at…) this place will do ;) Knowledgeable and friendly!

Visited there last Saturday and enjoyed a nice tasting of local wines. Mark, the owner, was very personable and we enjoyed visiting with him. Left with some new found favorites and will definitely go back when in town again.

I wasn’t too impressed with this location. I saw the sign for«wine tasting» and that perked my interest. However, when we showed up at noon we were told that the tastings did not start until 1pm. Odd. Am I crazy for drinking wine before 1? Many vineyards that offer tastings start around 10am and run until the late afternoon. So needless to say, I was disappointing. We shopped around anyway. We saw a lot of very pricey wines and some moderately priced wines. Those of us who drink good wine know that price isn’t necessarily a great indicator of the quality or taste of the wine. I was less than impressed with the inflated price tag on many bottles in this shop. We finally did settle on a less expensive local wine and we were not displeased. It was wonderful! The guy running the shop was a bit dry, but provided us with some information about the wines that interested us and seem fairly knowledgeable. I left happy to have a bottle of wine, but sad that we could not experience a little more of the local vineyards. Lame tasting hours!

I currently reside in Lake Tahoe. Since there has been a lack of snow I decided to venture on a spur of the moment, one night getaway to Mendocino, CA. I instantly fell in love with this quaint little town. After settling in at the John D. House we strolled Main st. and came across The Wine Shop. After browsing we found some reasonably priced 2001 wines and were on our way. We came back the next day to buy more wines on our way out. The gentleman that runs this shop is the nicest guy i have ever met. We then ran into him at the garden bakery. After leaving Mendocino(2 –½ hours later) I realized we left our wine on the counter at the bakery shop. Heart broken we call the bakery and they told us that our«wine friend» had picked up our belongings and was going to ship it to us! We got our belongings within 5 days and then the owner even called us to inform us he could ship us some of the wine we loved because he had just ordered the last case available. I will definitely be ordering from this place and will be back to visit soon!

Stumbled upon this little shop while roaming the small town of mendocino. Very hard to miss this place. We arrived while a local vender from Londer winery was hosting a tasting. The fee was $ 10 for 5 wines. Which I thought is normally priced for most tastings, but for the taste of the wine, I thought was too much. Their pourings consists of a Guzterminer, Chardonnay, and 3 different pinots. Nothing extraordinary about them, but I have to say they were all drinkable and smooth. The vender was really knowledge and shared a bit of information with us about each wine. The shop owner was attentive and quite nice. He greeted us when we walked in and helped my bf select a merlot for his collection. Would def hit this place up again if we are ever in town and see if other vendors are pouring.

While in Mendocino near Anderson Valley I decided to do some wine tasting. Seeing how Mendocino is such a small town and this is the only place to wine taste, we came here. Tasting is $ 10 and took us through some whites and Pinot Noirs. Our host was really nice and gave us attention with a nice description of each wine while pouring. Apart of the tasting is their wine collection. They have a good selection divided by of course type. Someone else offered to help me out while looking and gave me his opinion on which Merlots were good. The wines are affordable and a good shop to go to if you’re into wine and in Mendocino. Hey even if you’re not into wine, but want to learn more the people at The Wine Shop will help.

I love this little shop. What I’m not going to do is tell you my favorite wine there, because it’s only made for the shop and then all you greedy faces will go there and buy it all up. No sir, not happening. I’ve already said too much. What I WILL tell you is that this little shop is awesome. I’ve never had anything short of attentive and thorough service, they’re great at recommending wines for any occasion or meal and their wine tastings are fun and informative. And affordable too, I feel. Love them.

A tiny store with a moderate selection of wine in the front, some local, some international. A bottle of the Roderer Estate Sparkling was $ 45, which was sold for $ 5 less at the neighborhood market. They had a local vinter giving a tasting in the next room but we didn’t participate.

Walked in here on a weekend to buy some wine to enjoy on our camping trip. The guy behind the counter barely acknowledged us when we walked in. We browsed for a few moments before asking him about the local wines, he looked us up and down and replied, «they’re everywhere,» then proceeded to make a personal phone call. Now, it’s not like we were dressed like homeless people or thugs. In fact, I am frequently complimented on my attire which has been known to borderline metro, not to mention I work in the apparel retail industry so I know about fashion. My girlfriend even thought I was a closet gay guy once because I rambled off about french cuffs and bias stripes. Anyway, my point is, we were dressed in a very presentable manner, but even if we weren’t, this stuffy little man should have given us at least a minimal amount of courtesy and respect. Needless to say, we walked out and bought our wine elsewhere, which was his loss because we’re total alcoholics.

A nice little wine shop offering many local wines and a good number from around the world. I wish that the shop did tastings(at if they do had them more openly advertised). Or if not, had more reviews of wines posted. I love browsing wine, but I feel like I only gather so much information from wine labels. Also, I had a cute moment here when several of us in the store all started singing along to a Neil Young song playing on the store sound system all at the same time.
