One year on, the problems continue — and since the warranty coverage is over now, the system is now sitting idle/dysfunctional — I now run my thermostats separately, have installed FrontPoint home security and will be seeking help elsewhere. The home systems integration is extremely fragile/brittle as it runs on wireless, there is no way of managing Apple iPad updates and the black box-Apple TV-Wifi settings can only be changed/modified through a Control 4 dashboard that works only on a Windows machine(they never tell you that!). Gator Tech field technicians try to do their best, but the company and the management seems completely oblivious and unaware of customer issues. My suggestion(after $ 15,000 upgrade has resulted in a non-working system) — just don’t use this company for anything.

Not sure how they can still be in business after being so bad at what they do.

DONOT go with these guys! You will regret it, like we do. The only option our builder offered for wiring on our new house was through Gator Tech, so we purchased an alarm system through them(Jessica Cox was our rep). We knew we were paying a premium, but felt it was worth it to have the system installed during construction, wired behind the walls, & have their service after we moved in. Once we moved in tho, we came to sorely regret this decision. Jessica told us monthly monitoring would be $ 25, but when we moved in, they informed us that was just to text us if our alarm went off — if you want the police notified, that is an extra $ 26 a month($ 51 a month total — WHAT?). We also told them the week we moved in that we wanted monitoring set up ASAP; we’ve now been in our house for over 6 weeks & despite frequently following up with Gator Tech(Jessica & Alex), our system still isn’t working or set-up with monitoring. They usually go weeks between responses & then seem to not have full information when you do get ahold of them. They’ve sent people out twice, & both times the techs didn’t have the parts or information needed to set things up. Once after the tech left, our system started beeping every 60 seconds until we get ahold of the tech again the next day to get it resolved(needless to say, that was an unpleasant /sleepless night). We’ve now given up on them & are going through a competitor for the monitoring who is charging less than 1⁄3 of the price Gator Tech quoted us for the same monthly service, but sadly our system still isn’t working right, & we’ve now found out that they consistently charge **MORETHANDOUBLE** the fair market value for both their equipment & their monthly monitoring. Save your money, do some research & you can find much better options out there!

More than 6 calls over two months and no response! They did the original wiring in the house purchased from the builder. I wanted them to install home projector system because they are familiar with the work. I was told someone called Jessica Cox will return my call. No response. Call next time — given her cell number. Left messages no response. Called after two weeks — finally got hold of her. She says in the middle of something — will call back. Have not heard from her. They do not want our business so do not bother to call them!

I was given a time frame of 8 – 12 for a house call. Pretty typical but annoying — I was told I was the 2nd appointment of the day. The tech called me at 8:55 — let my house phone ring 2 times and hung up. I called him right back(4 times) and he did not answer. I left a message as well. He finally calls me at 11:27 and tells me he has another service call and then he will come to my house. I told him no thank you cause I had been waiting for him for 4 hours and I had to get to work. Why let the phone ring 2 times? Why not answer your phone when I called back so many times? He then acted totally clueless when I asked him these questions… What a waste of my time. Learn customer service people!

We hiredt his company to wire our new home for sound media and alarm throughout. We had nothing but problems with all phases including defective wiring. It took a lot of calls and pressure to get things completed and working and finally another competitor to get the systems working without the bugs. Would not refer them or use them again.

The alarm system has NEVER worked. The alarm would go off at all times of the day and night. The police came out many times and we were fined. I agree with the other comment that this company is absolutely pathetic.

I have used several structured wiring companies in the bay area for various project, but not one of them was as thorough as Gator Home Tech. I have interfaced with a variety of people: the owner, Vice President of the company, VP of sales, wiring technicians, as well as the office staff and each of these people have been absolute professionals, true to their word and detailed in their advice. I honestly feel like they have my best interests in mind when doing the alarm, audio, video, and home networking at my home and my friends homes. Their advice is tailored to my needs and not once have they tried to up sell me. Another thing that surprised me is that they do several on site walk throughout to make sure all the wiring is correct and perfectly symmetrical. This is very important so that everything looks just right when the wall are sheet rocked. I highly recommend these folks.

We had them install a home security system on our new house a few years back. At the beginning it was going off several times a day and took several months to get all the kinks out. We barely used the system, unless we all left the house for a long period of time. This last July 4th we left for a long weekend. The alarm went off around 8am and we didn’t get a phone until 1pm. Literally. The police didn’t check the property and neither did the security company. Absolutely pathetic. What the heck is this alarm for if they won’t do anything? Call us 5 hours later to let us know it went off and there might be someone in the house. 5 hours is plenty for someone to do a full house robbery no? Thank god the window sensor was just messed up and everything was OK. Definitely finding a new alarm system company asap. Wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.
