Delicious. The wild boar was very tender. The eggplant appetizer was great. Wonderful flavor. Friendly atmosphere.

We tried this restaurant because we had a city tin coaster. We were seated right away on the patio. We ate the duck samosas, endive boats, a burger, and the cobbler which was a seasonal dessert. It was original and delicious fusion food. A very interesting and unique menu. Would definitely go back!

My husband and I dined at The Cheel per recommendation of a good friend. We are both seasoned diners and love to cook. Our experience was top notch from the warm hospitality, creative cocktails, to the incredible flavors. We sat at the bar as we normally like to dine at a bar so we can interact with other diners and employees. They have a spectacular wine list that pairs well with the exquisite items on the menu. We loved our experience so much that we returned just two weeks later to celebrate my birthday which happened to be on a Friday night for the fish fry special. Hands down the BEST fish fry I have ever had. We brought my mother and father as well as my son and they cannot stop raving. My mother even said a couple days later«I cannot stop thinking about that fish fry, the tarter sauce and the Cole slaw.» My son asked to dine there for his birthday and said he would like to order two fish fries. The Cheel is a must for foodies and fish fry fanatics.

I seriously LOVE this place! As a vegetarian in Ozaukee County, there aren’t many restaurants with a variety of awesome options. Almost everything here is vegetarian or can be made that way. Including tofu options! Whoa! Somewhere in Ozaukee County that… 1. Serves Tofu options and… 2. Does it well! I am impressed. There is also something like 12 different sauce options to dip their homemade chickpea flour chips in. We tried them all. They were all incredible. The waitstaff is really knowledgable and helpful. They explained everything to us and offered suggestions. The gold cutlery and dinnerware is super charming and cool. It adds to the vibe of the whole location. The only complaint that I have is how LOUD the music is on a Saturday night. I like the idea of live music… but it’s a small little place. The one Saturday night that we ate here, we brought guests from out of town and weren’t able to talk to each other across the table because the music was so loud we couldn’t hear each other. Maybe softer music? Or only in the summer on the patio?

We used another city tin tonight and we’re excited to try a new place! Service here was great– when we got there the bar wasn’t very busy so the bartender was able to help us make our selections. We ordered the Napali Thali as we thought it would give us the ability to try a little bit of everything. The boar shoulder was incredible, the meat was tender but the outside was slightly crisp. The chicken was very good, the chicken was so was very tender and the sauce on top was great to mix in with the rice. My favorite part was the sweet potatoes and the lentil soup, I had the two soups mixed and it was delicious. In addition to all of this the meal came with 3 sauces to add to each dish. This is kind of weird because I even asked the bartender about the silverware, I think it was brass– it was beautiful if every way;however, I could taste metal through out the whole meal and still have the taste in my mouth. Maybe this is part of Nepalese food and I would feel bad for just be ignorant but it was kind of strange.

Very unique restaurant. The food is fantastic but the owners are even better! The ambience in atmosphere can compare to the best restaurants in California New York Chicago and even San Francisco. Who would have thought this high-class a restaurant would be in a small town!

Best fish fry in Mequon. Light. Flavorful and interesting tartar. You should give this a try if you are tired of the typically Milwaukee fish fries that send you running to the bathroom from too much grease. Mark

Interesting food and extensive drink menu. The beer selection is decent, but it’s all in bottles. Service leaves something to be desired and the turn around time by the kitchen is long: we waited over 90 minutes for sandwich plates on a Monday night. More pricey for the area but portion sizes are not small.

Holy-crowded-moly! We called ahead on a Friday night and our name was taken in a pseudo-reservation. Upon arriving, this place was packed. We waited a good hour and a half for a table. Fun, but packed, bar area Once seated we ordered an appetizer that came with sauces. We only received 2 out of the 3 sauces we ordered, and the portion was about ½ tablespoon – barely enough for one bite let alone a whole plate of chips. We ended up ordering more but each time the sauce serving was smaller and smaller. One of the sauces couldn’t have been more than a teaspoon! And the chips it came with were huge. The chef/owner did come to our table personally to let us know that one of the dishes we ordered ran out. Extremely professional rather than forcing a server to do it. Plus we got to meet the creative source. Entrees didn’t take too long to get to the table after ordering, and the food was very good. My companion ordered the Friday fishfry and it was phenomenal. Crunchy crust, flaky fresh fish inside, an overall win. I ordered the vegetarian choice with paneer, and it was very good. I would recommend this place, but be prepared to wait. They desperately need to expand.

Came here on a Saturday night, was busy but were seated within ten minutes. I would love to return when the patio is open in the summer! Bar menu is awesome — great craft beer selection, craft cocktails look awesome but I opted for Malbec once I saw their beautiful wine glasses(I’m a sucker for glassware) Having never tried Nepalese food, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Ended up trying a rack of lamb special, while my husband got a sandwich. Both meals were excellent, though I’d love to sample more things on the menu. Next time I would probably opt for sharing several tidbits rather than the bigbit? My lamb was cooked to perfection and served with delicious asparagus and what they titled risotto… Not bad but a bit al dente and just different(? Type of rice) vs traditional risotto. We’ll be back!

Tremendously enjoyable experience. Great space, and great character. The food was authentic, scratch made, and presented perfectly. The staff chatted me up, and gave me some great background on the chef and history of the place. I will easily come back to knock off each item on this menu. Momo Monday is a great way to start.

What a unique experience! This place is run by a husband/wife duo that clearly put a lot of effort/pride into sharing the Nepalese culture through their restaurant. I first came here with a MKEFoodies event and have been back several times since. I believe the wife’s family is from Nepal and all the recipes and many ingredients still stem from there. The staff is also helpful with making recommendations for what to try and I’ve never been disappointed with any dishes here. I can’t remember the names of the dishes but see attached pictures for reference. They also have a great happy hour that gets pretty busy. Moscow mules are also delish :)

Finally enjoyed the Gluten Free(chick pea flour) Friday Night Fish Fry at the beloved Thiensville restaurant. The Ryans were on at the bar; chefs on their game. The balanced vinegar/creamy/sweet/tangy red cabbages slaw was amazing — Nepalese spices!; the meagre fish crispy on the crust, moist and delicious, rice and great tartar sauce. The Cheel does Fish Fry their way and we approve! Kudos Team. Wittes

We went here on a Monday night around 730pm. The place was about half full, and the atmosphere was very cute. We ordered the beef momo(baked), the endive boats(with tofu) and the lamb meatballs. Everything was AMAZING. My fiancé was hesitant when I ordered the tofu but ended up liking it the best of all! A lot of other reviewers have commented on price and plate size, but we thought it super reasonable. Maybe in the Theinsville area restaurants typically charge less? As diners from Milwaukee we were pleased when our bill was $ 55 for three cocktails and the three small plates. And as far as plate sizes go… At many of our favorite restaurants, we order 4 – 5 small plates. Admittedly I’ve been on a health kick lately, but the three plates we ordered were enough to leave us full! It’s a bit of a hike for us to come out here so we probably won’t be back incredibly soon, but it will definitely go on our list of places to return to.

The food here is top notch. If you like Nepalese food with a twist, this is the place to go. The owner and his wife are super friendly and add to the experience of eating here. The bartender Michelle is one of the more talented bartenders i have run across. Hand crafted drinks and cocktails from her head. The drinks alone are worth the stop. I recommend the saffron cheesecake and the Cheel bisque. As far as main entrees, too many to choose from to pick a favorite.

Happy to report. I found VEGAN food near Jackson, WI and Milwaukee. Not much, but options! Root vegetables, Dal, Saffron Rice… all with that terrific bold flavor! And the Malbec wasn’t bad either! Amazing atmosphere in a picturesque little town. Dare I say this place is a little classy and could probably come across as pretentious if you didn’t step in and sit down for a bite and drink! The bar manager Ryan was terrific and the Wait staff girls were super friendly. Great vibe and some good eats. If I happen to make my way back to these parts, I’d definitely stop in. If you find yourself in these parts… just go. You’ll be happy you did.(And music on the weekends too!)

I actually read the reviews after dining at the Cheel. After reading the poor reviews, I am embarrassed to live in this area. This place is amazing, but if you are looking for something to compete with your mediocre all-you-can-eat fish fry, just stay away. Yes, they push the drinks. It really wasn’t hard to say no. That said, their Old Fashioned is wonderful. My husband and I ordered the following: Lamb Momos — These were good, but probably the least favorite of everything we ate. Samosas — Excellent flavor and really stuffed with filling! In fact, the chef didn’t like how one of the four of them looked, and remade it! How often does that happen? They clearly take quality seriously. Lamb Bites — The flavor was outstanding and the sauce was the perfect compliment. Then came the main event… The Wild Boar — This was amazing. The flavors of the boar combined with the dal and the rice. I literally have no words. Outstanding. For dessert we ordered the saffron cheesecake with amaretto and caramel. It takes a lot to impress me with desserts and this dish certainly did. The service itself was amazing. The personal interaction with the server and management is something most establishments miss these days. I think it goes without saying that we will be back… soon.

I really wanted to rate this place well. I want to give the place benefit of the doubt and try again some other time as well. Pros — we need these type of establishments, self owned and adding a difference to the landscape of Theinsville — service was just awesome !! Attentive personable and very friendly and non pretentious — food is flavorful and different than the usual — wild boar was the best dish ! Cons — the quantities are really really small. Specially for the prices. But given that everything seems to be made from scratch maybe the prices are reasonable –the highly raved momos were nothing much. The dip was good — the lamb bites were too dry and the tiny dipping sauce was not enough to break through the dryness — clam chowder did not taste anything like clam chowder. They should name it as seafood soup or something . — I ordered the signature sandwich that came with rice as the side dish. It was an odd combination. How do you eat rice with a sandwich??? — the cheeli soup was more like a lentil paste. Dense and not soup like. The flavor was ok I May return … Just because I do want to give this established another chance and agree with the 5+ reviews

We didn’t eat in the restaurant itself, so this review is for take-out only. We enjoyed the food we tried, which spanned the range from vegetarian to lamb and pork. Pick-up was easy, and the novelty factor was good. That said, this is not a cheap dinner, so be prepared for that.

I came here with a few colleagues for work and we all were very happy with what we had. Everything tasted great, everyone was friendly. We let the waiter kind of drive a it since there are so many ways to have things. I can’t wait to go back and try more stuff. I think this place will be around for a while and I plan to stop in for lunch since they will now be open for it! Yummy!
