Starting last fall, River Source in Mesa became an all female recovery facility. My medical detox for alcohol was well managed. The nurses, especially Linda, were very kind and skilled. IV supplements, acupuncture,(one time) massage and daily yoga were excellent support for recovery.(No one used the«sauna» while I was there.) The accommodations were not plush but the food was surprisingly edible. Be prepared to spend many, many hours of meetings in a darkened room. A few drawbacks: The backyard was filled with smoking staff and patients. So forget about getting a breath of fresh air for 30 days. Also, I found some of the male staff to have an overly righteous attitude that might have worked when it was a facility for guys. I did get what I came there to do and for that I am grateful.

The 12 step program the River Source provides is far beyond any experience I’ve had at other treatment facilities. If it wasn’t for the River Source, their program, and the staff, I don’t know if I would have ever saw the truth about my alcoholism. I am grateful for the River Source and feel extremely blessed that I had the opportunity to get sober there.

What an absolutely amazing group of people! I was so resistant to the 12 steps until I went to The River Source. The holistic approach is amazing. They offer massage, acupuncture, IV vitamin bags, cupping, adjustments, yoga, sauna, etc. But don’t confuse it for a 30 day spa… There is a perfect balance of all of the above and groups, meetings(on-site and off-site), counseling. There is always a nurse/doctor on staff and they offer so many natural alternatives to western remedies. In the 30 days I attended the program I learned how to be more honest, more open to advice, less resentful and above all I learned the tools I need to stay sober. I owe The River Source and it’s staff an infinite amount of «thank yous.» You all have truly changed my life for the better. Keep doing what you’re doing.

Horrible. I’ve been fighting to get my daughter transferred out of this facility to one that has a doctor on staff while her counselor Bobbi argues with me. Do NOT have your loved one with any type of mental disorder go to this place. When I went to go see my loved one after they let me after 12 days she was in far worse shape than she had been when she checked in. Meanwhile, river source had been calling me every two days telling me how great things were going. When I finally saw her, she was an anxious wreck the whole time, posting bizarre things on social media, talking about how some girl wanted to beat her up there, and she had asked about the acupuncture and baud therapy and they told her they were booked up. It was clear she was not on her meds. I call the facility and suddenly the story has changed. She’s not taking her meds, not participating or showing up to groups, not doing chores but she’s an adult and it’s her choice so oh well. Then they tell me that she asked the nurse for her meds that day and the nurse said no so the counselor coached her to go back and ask assertively and explain she needs them. Huh? Go ask the nurse twice for your meds after she turns you away? I asked to have a psychiatrist see her immediately and evaluate her and was told no, she’s an adult and she’s not asking for that. I’m shocked at the way they treat family members and clients with dual diagnosis. This is about the Arizona city inpatient location.

Patient abandonment per an M.D. They preach a program of honesty and yet do not adhere to these standards too. Truth was not given to family members. Detox incomplete. Physical pain not fully treated. Accusations of program non compliance inaccurate. Above level of care per staff. Requested MD or DO or emergency room and was denied. Go somewhere else.

The River Source is a place to go if you have absolutely no other choice. Before I went I was very unsure about rehab facilities and after staying there for 30 days I will never check myself into any facility again. They are very geared towards making money. If you say you are going to stay 30 days, at the end if that month they will do whatever they can to try to get you to stay 30 more days. They told me I was going to die and made my parents think I said I wanted to because they were hoping I wouldnt talk to them. They are very full of themselves and none of the staff is correctly trained to be doing the work they do. They preach that the whole point is to get through the steps and help other people out of the goodness of your heart and then there they are getting paid to do it. So basically if they can keep you in a bed so they get paid more than they will tell you and your family whatever they think they want to here. They are scammers an liars and i do not support this business at all.

Not geared toward young adults, staff need more training on how to treat them better when it comes to emotional issues. They dropped the ball numerous times.
