My boyfriend went here because it sounded like a random adventure on our way to Traverse City. I am so glad we took our chances with this one! The service was outstanding, and the room was comfortable and very clean. We will be making a trip here annually. I can’t say enough good things! If you appreciate northern Michigan than you too will love it.

What a relief it was to find this place! After fruitlessly searching throughout the Traverse City area, we gave up and decided to head inland in hopes of locating a room we could actually afford. Not only could we afford the Mushroom Cap, we were charmed. Coming in late in the day, we didn’t snag a room with all of the extras the other reviewer mentions. What we did get: a comfortable king size bed, microwave, mini fridge, desk with chair — all for 60-something a night. And clean as a whistle.(Whistles are clean, right?) The only reason I’m not giving them 5 stars: a toilet that wouldn’t stop running and the fan quit working in the middle of the night — and we count on that for white noise to drown out traffic. Otherwise, a great place. The cabins looked really cute and are set back further from the road. I’ll look into that next time. Oh, and the hostess couldn’t have been sweeter or more friendly. She really made us feel welcome.

I wish I had taken pictures because I am a judge a book by the cover kind of girl. I’m also a «I don’t like dirty» and a «never trust it if I haven’t been there already» kind of girl. The place is cute. When you drive up, it’s adorable. The staff was nice, though we only met a woman and I had spoken to a younger woman for the reservation. The room and building is definitely older, say the early 70’s? BUT! It’s clean, like really clean. I’m a picky ass so I was highly impressed. While I was only there for a night, I can tell someone takes care of that property. Great water pressure for a shower, plenty of hot water for the Boyfriend and I, and a very comfortable king sized bed. There was a TV with plenty of channels, as well as a kitchenette. A whole freaking kitchen. Mini-fridge, stove, oven, microwave, toaster, and sink. To add, they even had plates, silverware, and cups. While I was there only one night, I can truly say that an impression was made. I will be back. They do have a facebook as well:
