Far too expensive for sub par bbq. We were traveling and wanted to try something other than a chain restaurant… and we picked the wrong one. My husband took our kids through the line and told the employees it was our first time eating here, and they neglected to tell him about the $ 4.95 kids plates and instead directed our 9 and 12 year old to the $ 10.95 plate and rushed them through the line. The employees kept asking my kids what they wanted and piling it on their plates without even consulting us(the parents) even though I was trying to see what meal they were getting. Our bill for two adults and two children ended up being $ 52. The food itself was mediocre at best, the brisket was incredibly fatty yet tasteless, the mashed potatoes tasted fake, and the toast was burnt. Mothers of little ones, there’s no changing table and the floor is too nasty to even lay down a changing pad(no judgement we’ve all done it in a pinch). Baker’s Ribs ownership, I’ve copied and pasted a link to a commercial changing table. I’m fairly certain that you could sell a couple family meals and have more than enough to pay for it.

Well first of all, I travel immensely and try to scope out a good bbq place when I can. The staff was very friendly and attentive, but the food just average. I ordered brisket, ribs and turkey. I prefer to order bbq from the pit and lay by the pound but the only open on here was the pre-measured 3 meet platter with sides. The meet itself was a bit dry, but the bbq sauce had a great Zing to it so I used it to dress up the meat a bit. Sides I chose were the bbq beans,(very tasty) and the loaded mashed potatoes. The mashed are loaded with bacon and butter! Heart attack delight, but a tasty trip to get there. I ordered one of the«fried pies» and was disappointed as the microwaved epinada knock off was less than stellar. Overall a 3 star for these reasons. Staff was a 5 Meat a 2 Bbq sauce a 4 Sides a 3 I would look elsewhere if there are bbq places in the area.

Tried most bbq places in Mesquite and this was my favorite. Consistent pink on the inside and flavor on the outside.

I have to admit that my expectations were low but I was quite surprised with my recent visit to Bakers. This is good barbecue for a fair price. The pork ribs were delicious and perfectly cooked. The brisket was smoked well but a bit salty for my taste and I like my salt. The pulled pork was more of a chopped pork but still good. The sides are good and the sauce is absolutely wonderful. I will certainly be returning to enjoy more of this delicious barbecue.

Mediocre BBQ… My wife and I wanted something more«hole in the wall» and decided to try this place over the chains like Dickeys and Spring Creek. The vibe and décor are spot on for that, everything else not so much. Prices were tipping towards high, and the brisket was more like dry pot roast in terms if flavor. I asked for some burnt ends like I do at every BBQ place I wind up in. The kid they had slicing, either ignored what the girl taking orders said, or has no idea what burnt ends are. The bark on the brisket lacked flavor/seasoning, and the smoke ring was MINIMAL. The ribs were a tad better but again — pricing here is not reflective if the quality you get. The sides… Oh boy. The Cole slaw looked like it had potential to save the day, but when you bite into it, the taste was more like when your internet date shows up and you realize that was a 20 yr old photo theyd been using. The scalloped potatoes looked like theyd been out most of the day and the server dishing up sides even steered us clear of them under her breath. The mac and cheese was commercial food service quality — nothing to write home about. Pies were ok too. Crust was dry and filling was good but didnt taste like it was a fresh pie. Overall there’s way better options for the money within a few minutes drive of here. Id suggest exploring them first.

Pretty good food! The turkey was good, place seemed clean. Not cartwheel back flip amazing, but good bbq to satisfy the crave.

Why are most BBQ places closed when I NEEDBBQ? Seriously, you should be open on Sunday. The after-church crowd needs their fair share of charred flesh! I was looking for a sliced brisket sandwich. I tried three places before landing at Baker’s Rib. They get one star for being there for me in my hour of need. The brisket is okay. I prefer my meat a little smokier and my sauce a little less vinegary. $ 8 gets you a sandwich and two sides. I had the tomato salad which was good and a scalloped potato dish which was not. Staff was pleasant and courteous. This is fast food styled BBQ, same as most joints – meaning no waitstaff. I would go here in a pinch but it would not be a destination restaurant. We are in Texas, after all.

Now, their sides leave something to be desired but their ribs are on point! I have never gotten bad ribs here. They are always tender, well seasoned and smokey. Their pulled pork sandwich is also very tasty as well.

I was in Dallas(Mesquite) for a graduation and was running late but had researched and wanted some Texas BBQ while we were in town. We decided on Baker’s Ribs and we were so glad that this was not a sit down restaurant! You order at the counter and it is prepared quickly for you. I got the pulled pork sandwich with pasta salad and macaroni & cheese. Husband got a rib plate with potato salad. The mac & cheese was really good. Their BBQ sauce also was good and you got a whole bottle at your table. The BBQ sauce was also served warm. Good décor. Nice casual restaurant for a quick bite. Free vanilla soft serve ice cream cones in the dining room.

We ordered the holiday meal deal to make things easy for the holidays. Raul took our order about a week prior to Christmas. He seemed very distracted and I had to repeat my order 4 times. My wife called the day before our order was to be filled to confirm. Raul said he could not find the order and when he did he was still confused. We arrived to pick up our order at the specified time and it was not ready. When they presented it to us, it was wrong. They gave us ham and not turkey! Raul then argued with us and then told us it was not his fault. Our turkey was not ready and we settled for ribs. So much for making things easy for the holidays.

Me and my mom were in the area and decided to stop in, we had never been here before. from the moment we walked in i liked it. The guy at the counter greeted you and was very friendly and helpful. The food looked soo good. me and mom got plates with 2 meats and 2 sides. The food was soo good the only thing i didnt really enjoy was the potato salad but i guess everyone makes it different. The meat was soo good and i got mac n cheese it was delicious. I also liked the way the place was decorated with a country theme and counrty music playing, i loved it. We had lots of food left over so we took it to go. after that we stopped at my sisters house and we offered her some of our food and she really enjoyed it also. great place i loved it and did i mention they have a drive thru? well they do which is very convenient cant wait to stop in again.

Food is awful. Can’t find a good BBQ place in Mesquite anymore. Spring Creek BBQ is best but overpriced with lousy service and half the time they are out of baked potatoes. Baker’s Ribs doesn’t even come close. I’ve had better BBQ at the local truckstop.

this is the worst baker’s in dallas. it’s not the food. it’s the damn teenagers that run the place. it never ceases to amaze me that an owner/manager of a restaurant can feel comfortable staffing all teenagers(that care more about gossiping and their phones) at dinner times. is it because you can’t afford to hire someone for more than minimum wage because you’re not making enough money? you’re not making money because you’re letting teenagers do what they want! owner/managers have to show up every once in a while to put the fear of god into their employees! ugh.

Fried pies… did I mention Fried Pies? Standard barbeque food with tasty fried pies. We drive by here twice a month and get the pies each time. Had a pork sandwhich which has 6 ounces of meat and the loaded baked potato with chopped beef. The potato skin is crispy and is coated in salt and pepper — a bit spicy but I love the skin. Always get the Coconut cream fried pie which is almost a sin. Added a blackberry fried pie last time, but not enough fruit and a tad syrupy — will stick with the cream pies. Self serve condiment bar and self serve ice cream. This is not a main location Bakers, if you want the really hot fried pies check which locations have them. Decent BBQ but did I mention fried pies.

Menu was pricey and food was substandard. During this visit the meats were a little cold and baked potato was overcooked. The sides weren’t too bad.

After having a food conversation with a friend he said that this place this was had some good bbq so i drove right over to give it a try. The big pink pig outside made it seem like a nice little welcome. Once inside didn’t really smell of BBQ which just made me confused and get a bit sad. Would the food turn my mood around? I decided to order a 3 meat combo with sausage, chicken and chopped beef and a side of slaw. Chicken was very dry kinda gave me flash backs of the horrible turkey dinners in November. Chopped beef was a bit better but way better on a bun instead of just all alone. We come to a high point which is the sausage a bit spicy and juicy no smoke taste but it’s a chain so oh well. Not a place i will ever return to and will be going to find real local pitmasters.
