For the past several months, the knob on my GE dryer became increasingly difficult to turn, until one day, the plastic knob cracked and was no longer working. So I did what most people in a pinch would do. I removed the broken knob and found my vice grips, which was up to the task on turning the«hard to turn» dial. As many of you know, I am a procrastinator, so I left the dryer in its state of «ghetto repair» for several months. Since I was the clothes, it did not bother my wife too much. But on Friday(1÷22÷16), I had enough of the«ghetto» look and did an internet search on dryer timers. A YouTube search revealed that the parts swap was very easy and only involved a Phillips head screwdriver and a pair of needle nosed pliers. Low and behold, the best price I could find was at Ideal Appliance Parts, and was even cheaper than the process on Amazon. I spoke with a very nice lady named Michelle who confirmed the parts were available and even told me to reference the internet price I saw online, in case she was not there. A quick trip to Metairie revealed a very unassuming storefront just off of Veterans Memorial Blvd. But this place is not about looks, it’s about great process on most major appliance parts. Even though I did not request the parts to be set aside, Michelle was able to locate them very quickly and honored the incredible internet price. All in all I had a very good experience and definitely recommend them. I saved approximately $ 100.00 in labor and service call costs for a job that took me less than 30 minutes.
