For the most part a great store where we often find items we can’t find at other stores locally. The seafood department typically has some of the freshest fish anywhere.

OK for last minute purchases, but I wouldn’t do my main grocery shopping here. It’s a neighborhood store with limited selection and the staff is clueless about printable coupons. When I presented one for $ 1.00 off an Applegate product, the cashier didn’t know what it was. The bag boy said it needed to be approved and while we waited for someone to come look at it, another employee stopped by to look at this mysterious piece of paper. «What is that? Is that from the internet?» A manager came over and said they don’t accept them because when they send it to the clearinghouse, there are so many fraudulent ones that they were just advised to turn them all down. That’s fine. I just decided to keep my coupon and give them the product back. Good thing I didn’t come with a stack of them! I’ll save that for Whole Foods where, as a larger chain, they have no problem with accepting printables.
Also, I bought an egg salad sandwich from the deli. Not impressed.

The parking lot leaves a lot to be desired, as it is difficult to maneuver to park for any store in this strip mall.
This Langenstein’s does have a nice selection of prepared foods, but leaves something out when it comes to produce. The beer and wine selections are awesome. For those hard to find items, come here, or at least give them a call. I am sure they will have it. The store is neat, clean and well laid out. The staff members are always friendly and helpful. The grocery carts are the old school large, heavy duty type that can make it difficult to maneuver through some of the aisles when they are busy.
I do like coming here, though I think they are a bit on the expensive side.

When Langenstein’s makes an error they put the responsibility of the customer to fix their error, as if their incompetence is the customer’s fault. First I had a $.50 coupon which is on a product I purchase regularly and is taken off consistently. The checker made an error and it wasn’t taken off. LANGENSTEIN SOLUTION? Tell me, the customer, I have to go to Customer Service and deal with it. Bags of groceries, kid ready to go, 50 cents on the line? forget it. LEGIT SOLUTION? cashier give the customer $.50 and take the coupon to customer service later. LANGENSTEIN’S OVER CHARGED ME AND WILL NOT MAKE IT RIGHT. Bought grapes and was over charged $ 1 per pound. I brought in The receipt. LANGENSTEIN SOLUTION? Return the grapes, go to customer service and deal with it, for my whopping $ 2.60 plus tax. LEGIT SOLUTION? 2.6 pounds, a buck a pound, cashier hands customer $ 3 and an apology and a commitment that the price will be corrected. LANGENSTEIN’S INGNORED A 20 YEAR CUSTOMER AND HAS NO PROBLEM LOSING THEM FOR $ 3.50. I WROTE LANGENSTEINS FROM THEIR WEBSITE AND THEY IGNORED ME. $ 3.50 can’t buy a fancy coffee at PJ’s, but the principle of such poor customer service is enough to make me avoid them.

I shop here because it’s local. They can get pricey, but over all the quality is pretty good. I purchased a watermelon that turned out to be bad, and when I went back to let them know the next day, they refunded me the cost of be watermelon immediately. I really appreciate service like that.
The wine selection is out of this world, and their sliced meats are great, also.
Parking is perfect for Old Metairie as it has it’s own parking lot.

I enjoy their prepared foods section. Their gumbo is the closest I’ve had to homemade compared to any store-​bought in the area. The prices for everything else is a wee too steep to make this my to-​go store, but it’s a great resource for hard-​to-​find items.

Best deli in town. Love the Better cheddar, light Popeye dip, and the soups are amazing! Staff is friendly and helpful. Adore Chef Sam and anything he does is delicious. The butcher shop is knowledgeable, and willing to go above the call of duty to make you happy. Support local family run businesses,

Parking lot is CHAOTIC please be careful! Live a few blocks away, will not be returning due to the rudest cashiers and poor selection not to mention higher prices than most other grocery stores! Sorry but I will drive the extra mile to rouses!

I live in Old Metairie, so I’ve been going to Langenstein’s for a few years and absolutely love it. The produce is fresh and local, there’s a huge selection of wine and cheeses, and the service there is always great.
The past week I’ve stopped at Langenstein’s almost every day. For lunch I can always pick up some sushi that’s freshly made or maybe a crawfish pasta or shrimp etoufee that heats up quickly if I’m in a rush but want some good comforting food. There are a lot of delicious sandwiches too that are great to pick up on the go.
For dinner I always get fresh seafood from there– they have P&J Oysters which are always nice and big and a great selection of fish too. Last night I grilled some redfish and scallops from Langenstein’s. I would highly suggest this grocery store if you live in the area or even if you’re just driving by and need a quick bite to eat. I really never have the need to shop anywhere else.

I like this Langenstein’s and used to patronize it more often when I lived closer by. Lots of prepared foods but the produce was a bit disappointing this evening. Great beer & wine selection too. I decided I needed their shrimp salad for dinner (white remoulade as the dressing). Delish.
I will say the parking lot was designed by a drunk person.

It’s local, so I shop here from time to time, if I need something specific.
Otherwise, I really can’t justify driving to Old Metairie and spending significantly more on groceries than I would anywhere else.
I did get a fantastic Pumpkin Pie here for Thanksgiving, though.

Best chicken/​almond salad, shrimp salad, Huntsmans cheese (TRY THIS, PLZ) every holiday, xmas, thanksgiving, etc. the dressings, soups, and fried turkey all just PERFECT!! so, it’s a little high, you get what you pay for! the prices are not that bad, wouldn’t do my regular shopping there.
