Great haircut but awful experience. I arrived early and got to hear all the awful gossip that gets spoken in this salon and bad attitude. I was about to walk out but had to redeem my pricey groupon before it expired. Renee cut my hair she did a great job but bad attitude. I want to be at a salon where I can relax and enjoy not overwhelmed with negative energy.

Get your hair cut by Arthur, and your [blonde] highlights done by Lily (that’s how my appointment panned out). I am obsessed. I asked Arthur to add some fun layers to my hair (Heather Locklear-​ish), and he nailed it. Lily added beautiful highlights!

I have my hair cut and colored by Lily, a new addition to the salon. As someone who routinely changes up my look, I really appreciate Lily’s ability to listen to what I want and reconcile it with what she thinks will be feasible. She takes pride in what she does, and it shows; I’ve had my hair styled on three different continents by a number of extremely talented hairdressers, and I can say with confidence that Lily is among the best.

I’m here writing my second review for the Arthur Hutton salon. I was not able to make an appointment here last week, so I foolishly went somewhere else. I am not sure if the poor woman who cut my hair was having some kind of physical crisis, but she gave me a haircut that looked like a child cut my hair. It was horrible! Thankfully I went to see Arthur yesterday and he saved the day. I don’t know how he did it, but he turned a horrible haircut into a something really really cute. I love my haircut from Arthur. The man is a shear genius! Next time, I promise to wait if I can’t be seen the same day. I will never go anywhere else ever again

Edit April 2014: I’ve gotten 3 harassing messages on Unilocal so far concerning this review. One from the supposed owner, and two from other affiliated people. Just to let everyone else know, if you’re unhappy with your service and dare to comment on it publicly, prepare to be harassed. Very unprofessional, not to mention ridiculously immature to bully unhappy clients.

I read the previous bad review and thought that it was just a disgruntled former client. When she said that she was 15 min late, I thought that she was probably more like half an hour late and just exaggerating to bad mouth the salon.
Then I went to the salon and had a similar experience with their customer service. Apparently being anything other than on the dot will subject you to some petty belittlement as well as badgering about how you’ve completely ruined her life by being 5 minutes late and how she is so generous to still be willing to see you despite your tardiness. Also, not sure if it was on purpose out of spite, but the haircut was left rather uneven. Now I wonder if the previous reviewer was more like 10 minutes late…
I respect the need for small businesses to run on a tight schedule, but no need to be exceedingly rude about it. Not a pleasant experience to say the least.

I purchased a living social deal for a haircut at this salon at the recommendation of a friend who had her hair styled and colored with Renee. I scheduled my appointment with Arthur for 5pm. I had a difficult time locating the store, so I finally called for help at barely 10 minutes after to let him know that I was very near but had been driving around the block still trying to locate the salon. Literally, as we were speaking, I pulled up into the parking lot and said that I had found it.
He was EXTREMELY rude and condescending. He was like «Well, it’s like 15 minutes after now and we won’t get started with you for about another 20 or 30 minutes so you’re going to have to reschedule». I just drove around following a sign with an arrow that lead to an empty parking lot and a deserted building in rush hour traffic and finally found it 10, NOT 15 minutes late, and you’re going to tell me to reschedule?! Why in the world would it take 30 minutes to start my haircut at this point, anyway?
His nasty attitude towards a potential new client was unimaginable, and I would not want someone like that touching these locks with a 10 foot pole. Living social was appalled and kindly refunded my money along with a coupon towards another service. I’m sure Renee is very nice, but Arthur is a total jerk. I’ll take this as a blessing in disguise and use my money towards a cut with my trusted stylist at Paris Parker, thanks!

I love Renee and Arthur! Going to this salon feels like you’re hanging out with friends. I’ve had my hair highlighted by Renee for the past couple years. She is always so accommodating with my appointment times, so I don’t mind making the trek to Metairie. I have blonde hair and she does a spectacular job with my highlights. I highly recommend this place! I’m so sad that I have to move/​leave New Orleans and have to start the search for a great hairstylist all over again.

Renee & Arthur are the best! Renee has been my stylist for a year now & I have never been happier with my hair. She knew my name after my first appointment (which was just for feather extension). But her upbeat personality, great attitude & love for her work has kept me coming back. I have gotten many many terrible hair cuts in the past, so after a long hunt, I have found my stylist! Thanks for everything!
I would also recommend Arthur, he’s always friendly & professional & from the what I’ve seen, gives a great cut as well!
The salon is always clean & well kept. They have a good small product selection, & never had to listen to a sales pitch to buy. Services start promptly on time!

I have been a regular customer at the Arthur Hutton Salon for many years. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Arthur knows how to cut hair and always consults with me before my hair is washed so we both know in what direction we are going. The ambience of the salon is friendly and professional, and I always walk out feeling renewed. I highly recommend this salon.

Arthur is a genius. I’ll be honest here… I was a little hesitant when he called my name for my appointment, as he has shaggy straight hair and had just completed a boring cut on a guy ahead of me. However, he quickly showed me that my fear was unnecessary.
I, as usual, was a little vague about what I wanted. I didn’t want to lose a lot of length, but wanted to do something a little more «fun» with my hair, and of course, needed to add some highlights. He asked a couple of follow-​up questions and went to work.
It was about 2 hours, start to finish, which is about what I would expect for a wash, cut, highlights, and style. He was exceptionally conversational. The entire salon felt like one big family… quite laid back, yet professional.
My hair? I love it. Nothing too drastic, yet a great change from my pre-​appointment hair.
Parking is available to the front & side of the building (yay Metairie) and they offer a wide variety of services at the salon.

As I had PREVIOUSLY stated, this salon is EXCELLENT, and this is not relative, friend, or employee speaking, but a longtime customer who knew the first Arthur when he had his shop, Whittle, in New Orleans on Espanade. Arthur Sr was cutting edge and had real talent back then. He did my sister’s hair and then she told me about him and I was very happy with him, and later with Arthur Jr after his father died, and Renee. Very good place AND THIS IS NOT A FAKE REVIEW, Unilocal Nazi comment deleters!!!

I don’t normally write review about a hair stylist or a salon. Simply because I have not found one in Metairie that really wow me. My last good hair cut was done by someone in New York, too bad I can’t go there every two months.
My experience at Hutton’s was wonderful from the moment i walked in. Everyone was warm and friendly. My appointment was supposed to be 2:15, We got there 20 mins early, and they were able to see me right away. Arthur was my hair stylist. I asked for a clean gradual bob, he delivered plus more. He was very professional and fun. So happy that I have finally found my go to hair dresser!

I will continue to give my business to this salon every visit I walk out truly satisfied with the results. I am no expert on hair that is why I let Renee color and cut my hair. I feel at ease telling her what I would like and then she tells me if it’s possible. I have found my hair stylist for life!!! Thanks Renee!!! You rock!!!

I am almost hesitant to write this review because I have a feeling the masses will start flocking and I will never get an appointment. Katie offers mani/​pedis for $ 25, yeah that’s right $ 25 for BOTH. She is very detailed (takes an hour for pedi, half hour for mani) and does an amazing job at a totally affordable price. She is super knowledgeable and has offered me detailed advice on how to get and keep my nails in their best shape.
After years working in upscale salons, in films, and on photo shoots Katie decided to go into business for herself and now does her work at Arthur Hutton Salon. In addition to manis/​pedis she offers waxing services and brow shaping also at reasonable prices.
