Utterly unprofessional. Mickey Mouse & customer service is borderline stupidity. There are many other storage vehicle rental organizations you shouid use. U-​Haul is a whole is a JOKE! I am a return customer (corporately) for 15 years. I made a reservation over a month in afvance for a cargo van in the New Orleans area for my catering business, knowing with Sugar Bowl in town, everything would be booked. I adamantly went over the rental dates with the «reservationist» three times. Well, sure enough, she put the dates a month late.
That’s her only job right? Get the reservation dates correct??? Well, when I called to resolve the situation, the customer service agent (with a manager standing over her shoulder), kept apologizing. There was NO cargo vans in the city at this point, and they wanted to charge me an estimated $ 300, as opposed to the original $ 100 I was guaranteed. I would have also had to gone 30 miles out of my way to a different location to pickup a smaller truck.
Would not work with me in the slightes to correct their own mess up. DO NOT USE. Just due to their horrendous customer service.

Absolute scam.
They advertise trucks for $ 29.99 per day. Their trucks are **NOT** $ 29.99 as advertised. I was doing a simple 6 mile cross town move, and they wanted to charge me $ 80 before I even left the shop.
Oh, and that $ 80, despite already being 2.5 times their advertised price, did not include gas, or ANY of the equipment on the truck. If I wanted to use the dolly, or the furniture pads, it would have been up to $ 10 MORE!
Also, they’re very passive-​aggressively pushy with their «insurance» scam. They don’t force it on you, but they charge an extra $ 15 if you don’t want to be «liable» for the truck if it’s stolen (they make sure and put threatening fine print on the rental contract claiming you’ll owe them $ 45,000).
And the location is obviously set up to let them gouge people even more. They tell you very plainly that it’s $ 0.99 a mile for the truck. What they don’t say is that they’re also charging you mileage to drive the truck to your move site and back to their insanely remote facility (oh, and there’s an additional charge if it doesn’t get there with the tank filled back up).
Total scam. Avoid like the plague.
If you’re just moving one bedroom across town like me, go to Home Depot and get a cargo van. It’s $ 19 for the first 75 minutes, and $ 10 an hour after that. They don’t charge you for fuel or for mileage. I moved an entire bedroom/​office and had room to spare. And no, I don’t work for Home Depot.

Nobody in the front office; waited for 10 minutes at an empty desk. Employees act like they don’t give a sh*t. I rented a trailer for several days and when I rented it I asked if I could bring it back early and get a credit if I didn’t use it all the days I needed (they charge a lot more if you go over so I reserved it extra to make sure I wouldn’t go over a day) and they said no problem but when I brought it back they refused to give me credit. Scammers.
By the way, beware of making reservations online. U-​Haul will send your e-​mail address to a bunch of third party companies who will continue to spam you long after.

Simply the worst. It has been a long time since I have gone to this U-​haul location, because it was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had.
I was moving my things back to New Orleans from Baton Rouge, when my rental truck broke down in Gonzalez. I immediately pulled of the road and called U-​Haul. It took them 2 hours to get a tow truck out there that hauled us back to their location, where we had to move all of the furniture from one truck to the other.
They gave me a menial discount for my troubles and told me I could keep the truck an extra day. I explained to them that keeping the truck the next day would do me no good, because I could not afford to take another day off of work.
When I asked for an alternative concession, it was denied. I took the complaint all the way from the store clerk, to the manager, to the corporate customer service team. They were of no help all the way through.
If you can avoid using U-​Haul, I would highly recommend it.
