World of Beer isn’t so bad. It’s a nice place to hang out with your friends. I mean, not the nicest since there are plenty of local places to check out. The food is so-so. Although it can be to salty, the pretzel is definitely something you should try! It comes out extremely hot. I would skip on the meat plate and the tater tots are ok. If you don’t have a favorite beer, the beer flights are worth a try. I really enjoy the Sweetwater Blue! They put blueberries in it too. That was a first for me. The iPad has lots of info on beers but it’s pretty confusing. If you want to try something new, just close your eyes and point on the menu.

I wasn’t expecting much, but the level of dedication these folks have to drinkable hops & grains is admirable. The menu should please non-drinkers and the music wasn’t bro-tastic like other dude-centric houses of beer worship. The parking is terrible, so I wouldn’t plan a game day event here, but it’s great for trying the new or a much needed break from strip-mall Hell.

This place was nice. Went here with friends for a night out. My husband and I shared the Korean spicy wings, which were delicious. My husband also had the Horny Goat Peanut Butter Porter and he enjoyed it. I gave 4 stars because you can smoke.

Delicious food with different types of beer incorporated into the food and suggests the beer that would pair with it. Lovely environment. Great staff. Outdoor seating with TVs and heaters when it’s cold. Live music every Friday and Saturday night. This is the best place to be for any beer enthusiast or just a fun place to wind down.

So I came to World of Beer following the recent Unilocal event there. I ordered the pretzel which I had before and it was excellent. I was looking for some of the items that we tried at the event like the chili and they were no longer on the menu. I settled on the reuben sandwich thinking that since this was a german themed menu they would have great sauerkraut but boy was I wrong. That was the worst Reuben I have ever had in my life. I could have made a better one at my house. It was fake corned beef, the beef was the corned beef roll that you can buy at your local Walmart deli with a tasteless sauerkraut. I ordered the french fries and that were supposed to be special that ended up being steak fries which I hate that ended up being undercooked which is the reason why I hate them. I was very disappointed by the food especially since they went out of their way to impress us group of elites.

The service was terrible. It was not very crowded and it took forever to get a beer. At one point it took 15 minutes for us to get a beer. I also ordered a Goose Island 312, the beer they brought me was clearly not a 312. I informed one of the workers, he then smelled it and said you’re right. He then came back and said actually it is a 312. I said no it is not, feel free to taste it. In the meantime they brought me another beer that actually was a 312. The guy told me to compare, I said they taste different, the original one is not 312. My husband also tasted them & said they’re two different beers. Finally, another«beer expert» came out, smelled it and said no this is definitely not 312. This is such a cool spot, unfortunately between the crap service and the rude«beer experts» it’s totally not worth it. Go to Lagers down the road.

I’ve only been here once. It was last night to watch the LSU vs Miss State game. In the long list of random bars/restaurants I’ve been once or twice to watch a game this place comes in at the top of the list. The place was full but not packed, some of our friends got there early to ensure that we got a table. You can sit inside or outside. I’m not a beer drinker, but I love me some cider. They had a cider that is mixed with a raspberry liqueur that was delicious. The cider was 6 dollars and came in a big glass. I’ve been on a gluten free kick, so I was happy to see that they had about 3 items on the menu that said gluten free next to them. My boyfriend ended up ordering the tavern tots which were good and exactly what you would expect. I ordered the 6 dollar GF wedge salad which was also pretty good. Some of our friends ordered the black and bleu flatbread. I had a bite, and it was delicious! They also ordered the chicken wings which looked awesome as well. The environment was nice, service was fine, and I would say it’s a great place to watch a game. The location is also pretty close to my house — score!

Great service & atmosphere. Good, unique beer. However, it was a first date that should have been the last — what a flake. Regardless, this place is cool.

Our server was Will very knowledgable and helpful. This place has a nice concept with beers from all over the world. One time I was able to get Banks Beers from Barbados which I never had in the U.S. This place is a must try!

*** I’ll preface this with a genuine discontent for previous posts that make no sense(Who does not drink beer, goes to a place called World Of Beer, and continues to leave a 2-star review?!)… Regardless, food is outstanding for a bar, restaurant quality stuff, far better than many options in Metairie. The selection of beer is the best in the city, BARNONE! And, they want to teach you about the beer you are drinking. Time and again I hear horror stories of places in NOLA turning their nose up at customers because they’re a novice beer drinker, NOTTHISPLACE! Anyway, if you’re looking for good beer, great service, and outstanding food in Metairie… GOHERE!

This place is okay. Honestly though, I don’t even like or drink beer. But hey, I can still come here for the food! So, before you read any further, just a warning that I am only reviewing based on food and not beer. Anyways, I had seen pictures of the food here on Unilocal and it just looked amazing so I had to try it. Funny thing was, the company I took with me didn’t drink either. The waitress was probably thinking in her head, «Why are they even here» lol. Anyways, service though, was very nice-bartender – who was very excited to tell us about a new beer… to which we just«ooh» and«ahh“ed and nodded our heads smiling-and the waitress we had. For appetizers we ordered the pretzel with beer cheese and chipotle porter wings. The pretzel was big and pretty good – nothing too special(a tad too salty though). Getting it with the beer cheese cost an extra 2.50, but it was a good dipping sauce… and better than the sauce it would have originally came with. The wings were not that good. Maybe it was the flavor that we got? I usually like anything chipotle, but I don’t even know what that tasted like. My 2 friends got 2 diff chicken sandwiches. They said it was bland, to which I agree and I got the Chimay burger. Nothing spectacular. No veggies in the burger which I didn’t even realize before I ordered but it was alright. Overall, probably wouldn’t come back. But maybe for my fiancé to try, cause he loves beer.

Very cool place with an awesome beer selection! The digital menu is awesome because it actually gives descriptions of the beer, which not many places do! They also have specific glasses for each beer type, another thing most places don’t do. The service seemed to be pretty good, although a little slow at times. This could be due to the fact that they were a little busy. If you don’t drink beers, the bartenders make very good cocktails. There are also beer infused cocktails. My wife had an IPA infused margarita which was awesome! We also had some«mini Guinness» shots which were great! As far as food goes, we had the giant pretzel on a meat hook, which was awesome! We got it with mustard and a beer cheese dipping sauce(sauce was good, but it was a few extra dollars. Not crazy about the up charge, but nevertheless it was damn good! We also had fried pickles, which were delicious! Pros: 1. Great beer selection 2. Bar food is better than most bars in the area 3. Servers are pretty good. 4. Good live music 5. Beer descriptions on an electronic tablet was very cool. Cons. 1. Although service is good, it was a bit slow at times. 2. Some items are a bit pricey, and didn’t see any advertisement for any specials which most bars do.

I’ve been to a few World of Beers in Florida which were great so I was excited to hear one was opening in New Orleans. I have no idea why they picked this location, and decided to have it upstairs. The place feels small, and is dark and quite. Not the WoB atmosphere I’m used to. The beer menu was decent. Not as much draft as other locations and definitely more than most places in NOLA. The beer menu on an Ipad is innovative but not very practical. Most locals would probably rate this place low simply because it’s not a local beer establishment. Folks who actually know beer will come here and appreciate good beers, draft and in bottles. Oh, and unlike some WoBs, this place has a food! I’ll be back!

I definitely have mixed feelings about this place. I’m a big time beer drinker and LOVE trying new things! I love the many varieties of beer at this place. I also love that they give you an iPad to look up the different kinds of beer they offer along with descriptions of the beer. The problem is most of the beer I’ve been served there has not been very cold. A place that calls itself World Of Beer should definitely serve it’s beer at a better temp. That won’t stop my from going back though because of the large selection. Also the food is very tasty!

I’m going to start off with a really basic assessment: World of Beer is great for those of you who live in Metairie, want some decent beer and maybe have yet to discover Lager’s. Maybe I went at the wrong time. I went on a Saturday night and there was the usual crowd of people in there who were looking for a party. My friend and I sat at the bar and looked over the menu. Nothing really jumped out at me and everything you can find here you can find at Avenue Pub. The vibe here is just weird. It’s a beer bar and we were sitting at the bar and the bartender was non stop with making mixed drinks. Who comes to a beer bar and gets mixed drinks? And then there was a singer there that just felt unnecessary, out of place and odd. If you want food they have such faire as the«beer pretzel». God only knows what that is. I’m sure it’s a pretzel with a beer sauce or something. There are way better places for beer all over the city. I won’t be returning to WoB.

I would give the ambiance and service between a 3.5 and 4 for Metairie. This is a generic chain with generic food and a fantastic craft beer selection at expensive prices. I ate at the bar for lunch and they bring you an I-Pad to view their drink menu. They have certainly built a very nice upstairs space for a generic bar chain but the food really did not impress and you can get a much better burger downstairs at Mooyah for far cheaper. Following the trend in New Yorkification of many new places opening with inflated prices I didn’t see any beer for under $ 5 and charging $ 5 for Abita Amber in Metairie is particularly gouging as most places in the area such beer can be had for around $ 3. For their signature Chimay burger at $ 12 and $ 3 for Abita Amber Root Beer(as they don’t have iced tea) my lunch bill came out to $ 16.31 before tip and I wasn’t left with happy post burger feelings as it just was one of the least delicious burgers I’ve had in awhile and I think Wendy’s would’ve made me happier. This business model might make sense in the French Quarter but it just doesn’t seem to fit the area it’s in. Overall if you’re looking for a large craft beer selection in a nice modern pub atmosphere with mediocre food and attentive service this place will be one of your best choices in the area but you will pay a premium for it. For my money I would much rather go to local dives with much better food and a decent selection of craft beer at lower prices with more authentic local color. This is a great place for those generic chain loving tourists and out of town guests who don’t like NOLA culture and food to be left(and all non-Saints fans). Unless the food improves and the price of beer drops by at least $ 1(American) I don’t see much reason to return unless they have a beer I can’t find anywhere else I have to have.

I went here with my boyfriend last week and it was a special experience. I was a regular patron of Evanston’s World of Beer when attended school at Northwestern. It was this business that even got me into beer. Before that, I had no knowledge. Now, I’ll go for a craft beer a lot of times before going for anything else. I loved seeing how this World of Beer location was similar to what I had experienced but had New Orleans local flair added in. Fried pickles, the southern staple, was on the menu. There were many local Louisiana brews. I had a Canadian wheat that I loved. I found it special that the décor and atmosphere of WOB must stay consistent across it’s different franchises but the menu is all locally drawn. Can’t wait to go again!

I met a couple of friends here on a Saturday evening. Giving full disclosure, we had attempted this gathering opening night, but it was far too crowded for me. It did get a bit crowded last night, and they did have live music and dancing. The service is prompt and friendly. There is a WIDE variety of beer and draft ciders. Smoking is allowed on the outdoor patio. I had the hard draft cider, which was very good. The German pretzel with the house-made beer cheese was a favorite of my friends and I. The marguerite flatbread was awesome, as was the macaroni and cheese(with bacon and breadcrumbs on top). I look forward to coming back!
