Friendly bartenders, good pours and great liquor selection. Way over priced for a hotel steakhouse. Come here for drinks and maybe apps but have your dinner somewhere else.

Poooor quality. I asked the server at the onset if the reference to «prime» on the menu meant USDA prime. Yes was the answer. After I chucked down the steak they brought me I asked for the manager and got the same response. This steak, strip, was no more USDA prime than the bacon I had for breakfast. Right off the bat the server verbally assumed bottled water. Major faux pas, give the tap option. At that point I was on guard. That prompted the prime beef clarification. Wrong wrong. The wine«special«was an off winery $ 35 retail bottle that was«normally $ 160 but we are offering it for $ 100». Silver Oak Alex was $ 175 to five reference, so we ended up taking the special for a Benny. Best value of the night and that’s sad. Pretentious, sub-grade beef, servers programmed for the upsell at the expense of comfort. Spend the $ 80 for a cab rise to Ruth’s Chris in Coral Gables or hit up another reputable USDA prime chain like Smith and Woll.

Ok so I made my mission in life to make to this place this time out in Miami. I was largely impressed by how much detail was payed to designing such an extraordinary atmosphere. Now keep in mind money must not be a an option here! Well at least for one night if u plan on having a good time. The service was great from the minute we arrived to th minute we left. Which is should be for this kind of money(lol). Now on to the food. I ordered the grill lamb chops with a side order of asparagus. Now I recommend you have them cook a notch under whatever your preference is. I happened to take that advice from a few other reviews which proved to be right. Overall this is a great place to enjoy a nice meal in Miami. I’m definitely going back!

Wow. what an experience. I was at a conference next door at the Eden Roc, and was invited on a whim to join some friends next door at the Fountainbleu. I had no idea what a treat I was in for!

If you are looking for a place to empty your wallet this is the place. It is great for a late night drink and meal/dessert. The oysters, shrimp cocktail, and seafood appetizers are wonderful. Again if you are looking for value, this is not the place. If you are looking for a trendy place to be seen, it will fit the bill.

We recently stayed at the Fontainebleau for several nights and visited most of their restaurants. Gotham was our first night there. Since we have been to Gotham in New York City we had high expectations. When we entered the restaurant the first thing I noticed was how cold it was in there. Thankfully I had a sweater. Noise level was high could hear everything the person at the next table said. We ordered a nice bottle of Cab Sav on menu as an 09 but got a 10. Not good. I had the beet salad which was fabulous, my husband had the beef tartar as a starter and it also was wonderful. For dinner he had the rack of lamb and asparagus. It was a good portion, well prepared and he raved about. I however got the Ribeye and was extremely disappointed. I ordered it med rare, it arrived overlooked was gristly throughout and just not edible. The dauphine potatoes saved the day. For dessert we had the pineapple crisp which was fine. The coffee was ordered with cre and instead milk was delivered. When you go to am upscale restaurant that is not appreciated. To their defense they did not charge us for the steak when they saw none was eaten. Would I go there again? No

Such a bummer. Once again I am reminded that one person’s 4-star review is another’s F-minus. For me, this place was one of the worst values I have experienced. For $ 450 and we didn’t even have a bottle of wine, this was just insulting. I’d put it in the below average category for top steak houses. Sure, it was reasonably good… but just«ok». We had a 7:00 reservation that I made months ago, knowing there was a conference. The place was not crowded at all at 7:00, yet they chose to walk us waaaay down to one of the s**tiest tables in the place. I wasn’t in the mood to deal with complaining and relocating, so just took it. Yeah, I know, but sometimes you just want to have an effortless smooth relaxing dinner. You’d think that someone who plans in advance like I did, made a reservation so far in advance would be given some value and sat at a nice table vs being steered to the worst… which worked for them. gain, I know better, but didn’t want to gripe that night. It’s not like we wearing flip flops and overalls or had 3 bratty kids with us… quite the opposite. Oh well. The server was a very nice guy, he was the highlight. Yellowtail ceviche was excellent. Oysters were excellent. The $ 50EACH Stone Crab Claws were good… but whaaaat? The steaks were ok, but I might question if they were actually Prime… more like a Top-of-Choice at best… which can be good… but not for the price they charge. Anyway, HUGE«pass» on this place. No way is it even close to worth the money. Pretty sad when you can say any of the top-flight steak chains(Morton’s, Capital Grill, etc) are better and you bill yourself as something so special… not. Have fun.

The macaroni and cheese with Applewood smoked bacon is ridiculous. So good. Great steaks and the grilled octopus is not to be missed. Make sure to get dessert. The smores and molten chocolate cake are both great.

Great service, the food was really good, there very attentive, my boyfriend was very satisfied. We spent about 300 $ because we ordered a bottle of wine but I still think it was a bit pricey. They have great servers overall.

Waiter Julius was horrible. He stated arguing with my friend about she didn’t order the red snapper but a wedge salad. Who does that. I had the lamb chops that were extremely delicious. Had a mixture of oysters from the east-west coast that were very tasty. Burger was huge. Truffle fries are always to die for.

If you’re at a steakhouse, you’ve got to try their steak. I tried their skirt steak, and while the amount was more than plentiful it was too salty for my taste. HOwever, service was decent. Attire — dress to impress of course.

I had the bone in fillet mignon, 16 oz with a lobster tail on top, which was unnecessary, but delicious. It cost $ 93(plus the South Beach Shakedown a.k.a. The standard 18% service fee all restaurants charge regardless of size of party nor quality of service). The menu pricing is on par with South Beach and a good solid steak house. The quality of the meat was good as well. The place is nice, located in the Fountainebleau Hotel. The bread they give you, free of charge(so if it makes you feel better, load up on that bread ’til you get your 18% service charge worth of free bread!) is very good, in fact, not to give them any ideas, it’s even good enough… dare I say… to… charge for !!! I tried a bite of the Salmon which was well received and I agree was good. The layout was good, not crowded and noisy, so perfect for a fine dining experience. They do accommodate«split bills» for social parties where people go dutch, which is always nice to have without any attitude or issues. They had immediate seating when we attended, which was good since they honored the time of the reservation without delay(you always hear if not experience the horror stories of the 4 hour dinners in South Beach… with 1 – 2 hours delay in getting seated, then slow service)… but here everything went smoothly.

Visited this restaurant a couple of weeks ago and had a great experience. The décor is quite chic, loved the chandeliers close to the bar. Our waitress brought the menu. and guess what. it was an ipad, so yes… you must be computer savvy to figure it out.lol.no worries, is not that hard. I ordered the salmon medium cooked, it was delish! so juicy and tender. Sides were creamy spinach and potatoes. I ordered this really refreshing drink, had vodka in it… but can’t quite remember the name(Note to self: I should write this stuff down) Either way, it was a great and romantic evening. Totally recommend if you want to impress a date.

Gotham was my first stop for Miami Spice this year. The restaurant is gorgeous, as is the rest of the Fontainebleau. We were seated downstairs near the wine cellar which makes for an interesting backdrop for dinner. The menu was awesome. There were great options for each course. Here’s what I ordered: Appetizer: 5 stars! I wanted more. If Gotham wasn’t so classy, I would’ve licked my plate. Black Truffle Beef Stroganoff Fresh Pappardelle, Crimini Mushrooms, Dijon Entrée: Really good. Was hoping for a slightly larger portion, but it was delicious. Also, menu said sweet potato purée, but I’m not sure if that’s what it was. My potatoes were green… yummy, but green. Braised Short Rib of Beef Sweet Potato Purée, Caramelized Pearl Onions, Sherry Gastrique Dessert: So rich! Needed a better ratio of ice cream to chocolate to combat the thickness of the mousse. Dark Chocolate Mousse Lemon Chantilly, Amarenata Cherries, Vanilla Ice Cream I also did the wine flight. The wine for the first course was my favorite pairing. I skipped the pairing for the dessert. It tasted more like a liqueur than wine. Service was attentive, and they brought out a course between the appetizer and entrée because we were waiting for a while. It was a risotto– such a nice surprise! I really enjoyed my Miami Spice night with the girls at Gotham, and can’t wait to go back again.

What I must say is that this place has excellent service. The server really tried to talk to us and made sure that everyone was okay; he also tried to find out how the bartender made the Shirley Temple(which I think tastes amazing!) because I asked him what’s in it. The Shirley Temple is different from the other Shirley Temples I’ve had. I didn’t taste the syrup at all and it was just a great blend of pomegranate(not cherry?! or strawberry?!) and Sprite. The drink was delicious and crisp in every way and because I am yet to become legal(until next year), this drink really satisfied my taste buds. The bread for starters is DELICIOUS. The outside has a slightly salty coating that really brings the bread some flavor, and not to mention, they also seasoned the butter with a little bit of salt(fancy salt? it was a brown salty seasoning). The bread came and it looked like a soufflé!!! The very first bite into the bread was super warm and soft; I would definitely come back for the bread and Shirley Temple! The chicken that my mother had was really good. It’s not the typical chicken you have everyday! They put this BBQ(not really sure if it was BBQ… but hopefully I’m close) sauce that really gives the chicken a nice flavor. The sauce is not too thick nor watery, it was just perfect; however, I am not a chicken fan, but I do admit this dish is quite a catch for all you chicken lovers out there. I would really enjoy the steak if only my father did not order the steak well done. I really like my steaks medium rare so when I had the well done steak, I had a hard time extracting all the flavors. Although the steak wasn’t juicy in my opinion(due to it being well done), I really liked how they put a different sauce on the steak so not only did I taste the crunch of the outer layer of the steak, but I also enjoyed a dab of the restaurant’s BBQ sauce(because I still don’t know what it is… but the sauce is slightly different from the chicken entrée I mentioned). I still wished the steak was medium rare because it had so much potential in being the best meal of the night. The disappointment was the Mac and Cheese. Back in Los Angeles, I’ve had a lot of different kinds of Mac and Cheese, but this one seemed to fail me. I liked the breadcrumbs that gave the side dish a crunch, but otherwise, it was overcooked. The creamy cheese sauce was completely absorbed into the macaroni by the time the dish was on my table. I, personally, like my Mac and Cheese slightly creamy, but this Mac and Cheese I had is really dry. Perhaps the timing was wrong, but for now, this dish leaves me downtrodden. Overall I give this place a 4 even though I wasn’t satisfied with all the dishes, but hey, I can’t be super nit-picky right? I’m sure everyone would enjoy the steak depending on how well he or she likes the steak to be done, and I’m sure everyone would also enjoy the chicken if he or she is a chicken lover. Though I must say, you should definitely come here for a visit because of the great dining service, beautiful décor, yummy Shirley Temple, warm bread, and the potential juicy steak.

The scenery at the Fontinbleu Hotel is surreal. You can begin the night by having drinks and people watch at the Blu Bar, have dinner at Gotham, and then go to LIV after dinner, all at one location. Gotham Steak exudes luxury and class. The tables are spaced perfectly so that you’re not involvedin the next tables conversation. Your reservation is kept at the time its suppose to be and the professionalism of the servers are all top notch. Bread– The loaf of bread that is brought to the table is so good that I could probably just eat bread and drink alone and be satisfied. The bread rivals the garlic loaf at Smith and Wollensky’s as the best steakhouse bread. Appetizers– I will be blunt, I am very disappointed in the selection. There’s more salad appetizers than all of the other appetizers combined. Personally, the last thing I am thinking about ordering at a steakhouse is a salad. 2 or 3 salads are fine, but when there is 5 – 6 its a little over the top since the non salad items are sub par. Put a shrimp cocktail, crab cake, calamari, etc. in addition to the salads. Steak– The usual suspects are all on the menu: filets, strips, ribeyes. Like I’ve mentioned in my other posts it is all about the bone-in– ribeye and I do not hold any punches back when I order the the 25oz cut. In terms of price its the most expensive non-wagyu steak I can recall ordering at a top notch steakhouse. But for now lets ignore prices. The ribeye along with all the other cuts are phenomenal. Aged and cooked to perfection each tender and flavorful bite of steak will have you feeling as if you are Bruce Wayne. The night is yours. Sides– Similar to the appetizers the sides are a little disappointing. The mac and cheese and mash potatoes are usually ordered, however, at a restaurant of Gotham’s class they should be much better. A wider selection of vegetables should also be included on the menu. Dessert– The crème brûlée and warm chocolate cake are very good. But there is no dessert on the menu that will have you saying«that is a must order» Gotham is a great dining experience. It is probably the most expensive steakhouse in Miami(exclude wagyu) but it is also one of the better choices. I rate it at 4.25 stars. If the appetizers and sides were better it would move closer to a 5. Places better than: Red, Smith and Wollensky, BLT Steak Places comparable if not better: Prime 112, STK

Came by for a late night dinner the other night. Upon arrival, the hostess requested for a name and room number… which was odd… Started off with the complimentary bread which was mediocre. The Miso black cod was tasty at $ 38. The fish was very fresh and well prepared. The fish was also very juicy. The Onion Rings for $ 10 were okay. They were huge and not too oily. They also had a hint of salt in them. The chicken wings at $ 18 were also okay. We got them half buffalo and half Asian. The chicken wings were frozen and fried… the chicken wasn’t fresh and there was very little meat… mediocre at best. Service was pretty good, although nothing spectacular. The OJ was decent. Automatic 18% gratuity was added to the tab. Total was $ 45/person.

We were staying for a weekend so did not have to endure parking which was great for us! Got seated by the rail which overlooked the downstairs portion of the restaurant. Noticed right away that the downstairs tables all had white tablecloths on them while the upstairs did not. We immediately asked the waiter about it. He explained that downstairs has a different«vibe». It is a little bit more elegant. They play Sinatra music while upstairs gets the DJ treatment which starts at 9pm. Oh, I see. I mean, I did see. I looked just to my right and the speaker was right next to our table. I was worried that the music would blast in our ear all night long! The lighting is dim and the place has a really sexy atmosphere. We brought our wine but we did take a look at the wine list just to compare the pricing. Overpriced as usual in most restaurants. The list is presented to you on an ipad. Pretty neat. Bread on the table was just bread on the table. The butter comes with a side of sea salt. We started with a lobster bisque and the foie gras. The lobster bisque was very good taste wise but the texture seemed to be a little liquefied for our taste. The foie gras was exceptional! By the time our entrees arrived, the DJ had started. Music was not blaring at all. It was loud enough to hear it but not so loud that you had to scream. On this night, a Friday, the music selection was mostly very early 80’s. Odd choice I thought for such a restaurant and a girl DJ in her early 20’s spinning. We ordered the churrasco and the bone in ribeye. MIne was supposed to be medium well but it ended up being well done. It was ok but not the quality that I expected it to be.(nothing compares to the steaks at CUT in L.A. in my experience so far) The bone in ribeye was pretty darn good. I kept stealing from my husband’s plate until he just had to share it. The portions are adequate and on the smaller side than most restaurants. As sides we ordered the truffle fries and the mushroom risotto gruyère. I could not stop eating the fries and the risotto was perfect. We ended with a machiatto and a green tea. They poured my tea too soon. It had not steeped long enough in the pot they bring it in. It was almost just hot water. I had to ask for another cup to serve myself minutes later when it was finally ready. Desserts were pretty spectacular. We had the doughnuts and the peanut butter crunch. Their doughnuts are comparable to the beignets at Grande Luxe. Really, they are. These are filled though while theirs is not and also bring a raspberry sauce and a chocolate sauce to dip into. The peanut butter crunch was just amazing. Too bad I had a big lunch earlier or I would have been able to actually finish it! Bathrooms are not inside the restaurant. You have to walk out of the restaurant and they are towards your right. Depending where you are sitting, this might be a hike. Not sure where the downstairs bathrooms are, if any. I would love to try this place again but sit downstairs where it’s a little more subdued. If I remember correctly this use to be another upscale steak house in the old Fontainebleau glory days when I came as a child but I forget the name. I must say, it has come a long way!
