Great ambience, very warm and quick service. However, the food was disappointing. The chicken tikka masala and papaya salad were excellent. Every other dish wast fairly average. For such a high price you expect all dishes to be excellent

I’m not a big fan of people putting anyone or anything down in a public forum, but unfortunately I feel the need to share my experience after dining at Jaya. The pros: The atmosphere and service were amazing, top notch. Why the poor review then? Immediately after eating my pork dinner, I was nauseous and ran to the restaurants bathroom. Thinking I would be fine after getting sick we left the restaurant to go back to our hotel and that is when all hell broke loose. I will spare you the details but imagine the worst case of food poisoning and then multiple it by ten. Being in Neurology I knew there was nothing I could do but let it play its course, however, it still didn’t stop me from wanting to call 911 after waking up to a spoiled bed at 3am. We called the restaurant the next day to inform them that one or more items they were serving had to be contaminated in hopes that someone else would not get sick from eating the same selections. The response we received was the worst example of customer service I have witnessed and being in hospitality for many years that’s bad. We were told it must have been what I had for lunch or even the sun. Let it be clear that I came to restaurant healthy and being that it was day two of vacation I had not had the chance to enjoy the sun. I wasn’t looking for a refund of any kind, in fact a «sorry can we do anything for you? We will check the food immediately» would have been just fine. I spent my vacation in a hotel bed and only started to feel better the day after I got home which was five days later. Accidents happen but you don’t tell a customer who became violently ill after eating food prepared from your kitchen that they were in the wrong.

Had an awesome time getting food at Jaya in the amazingly beautiful Setai 5-star hotel. I’m not sure why it is rated so lowly — perhaps it is the service that can be a bit slow but do take care of us. I came here with a group of six and we had an awesome time sharing 7 dishes(one of us was vegetarian) and we all came away super full and not having spent too much on a lunch out! Here’s what we got: — Bluefin Tuna(served ceviche style in long strips) — Coconut Soup(only dish that was on the smaller side) — Duck Salad(super crispy) — Green Curry Chicken(yum) — Pepper Shrimp(the shrimp are so large!) — Miso Salmon(really fantastic) — Pad Thai(we made this vegetarian) All in all, a fantastic meal and a great place overall to have it. Highly recommended!

Superb service, atmosphere(sit in the outdoor courtyard!), people watching, and of course, FOOD! You must get the truffle dumplings(real shaved truffle on top) and black pepper shrimp. I don’t think you can go wrong with anything on the menu! It’s worth the spendy price tag!

Outstanding brunch. To those who are shocked at prices, there is full disclosure when you call the restaurant. Exact to pay $ 80 a head or so, plus service charge and tip. The ambiance is The Setai, so there. The service is fantastic. Quality and variety of food is excellent… What brunch buffet has 6 Indian curries to choose from with fresh baked naan bread? Exactly. Here’s the kicker: Bottomless Roederer champagne and mimosas. You can para crucially drink the cost of the buffet in champagne alone! If you’re looking for something truly special, like I was for our second year anniversary, and don’t mind spending the $ 100 or so on your significant other, few other places in Miami truly offer dedicated, unpretentious service with attention to detail and richness of food like Jaya at the Setai.

Jaya, one of the best Asian fusion places in Miami. Food was fantastic and the cocktails were even better. Will go again and again and again…

Food was OK; ambience is excellent. I write about the service and value. We were the first table seated on Sat evening, 4÷23÷16. Service started excellent(as we were the only people in the restaurant). The way the place works is that someone takes your order and then others bring the food items. After some of the food items were delivered, we asked to speak to our server. We could not see her or find her. Many other servers passed but ignored us. By the time she came back to the table — at least 20 minutes had passed without sight of her, we had decided that we had enough and I just ordered the check. The check included a mandatory 20% service charge. Two of us had one drink each and four small plates to share. The bill was $ 225. For the price of the food and service, we were extremely underwhelmed. We picked up a pizza on the way home and enjoyed it with a fine bottle of Pinot Noir. If you want to spend this much on Asian and have great food and service, I recommend Nobu. It is 20 blocks away but you get a better experience. Nobu’s food and service are legendary.

I am eating here currently. If you want to be welcomed by a rude hostess this is your place. Will let you know how the food and service was. Just finished dinner. The waiter and bus person were great. The food is average. If you want Indian or Thai don’t come here.

I came here to Jaya restaurant at The Setai with 2 others at around 9 on Friday night. As others have said, the lobby/restaurant/bar area overall is very classy with lots of dark woods, a dark brown painted brick floor, modern lighting fixtures and a few large round bowls of perfectly arranged roses. To boot, from the restaurant and bar, one can look out the windows and see the stunning courtyard dining area and reflection pool. We arrived without a reservation, which was fine as the place was nearly dead aside from maybe 2 tables with patrons at them and a handful of people at the bar. We were seated immediately and our server was quite good throughout the night, including giving us his own recommendations from each section of Jaya’s menu and telling us which items were spicy or were highly commented on by past patrons, both positively and negatively. That said, this restaurant did fall short in a few areas during this visit, thus the 3 star rating: 1) this restaurant, which features Asian inspired foods with a bit of an Indian twist was somehow out of sticky rice on this night. Also, 2 of us ordered mojitos from the drink menu, only for the server to return a few minutes later and tell us the bar was out of ingredients to make mojitos. 2) IMO, the portions were quite small here for the price. For an appetizer, I had the steam egg boa which was 2 smallish taco shaped appetizers that barely put a dent in my appetite. For the main course, I ordered the dish with 3 types of sushi. The server pointed out that this dish wasn’t very large, and I found that to be an understatement. The presentation was impressive. A white rectangular dish filled with crushed ice, topped with a long, wide leaf and 3 different types of fish, garnished with carrot and delivered with 3 sauces. That said, presentation aside, the actual amount of fish was pretty tiny, especially considering the price. This is a nice restaurant to bring a special someone or to come to simply get away from the madness of Miami Beach as the reflecting pool and outdoor courtyard area really is nice and peaceful. That said, they were out of a few key things during prime dining time on a weekend evening, even though the place was nearly empty. Also, again, don’t expect to walk away from this place with a full stomach, unless you’re willing to pay dearly to do so.

Had the Sunday brunch on Christmas day. Food and service were delicious. However, when I called to reserve they said a price and when I got the bill they were charging 20% more. They tried to explain that there was a certain fee and stuff. This was not informed to me before. And of course, on top of that there were tax and tip that I added. Please, if I call and ask the price, don’t add anything to it afterwards.

The long-awaited opening of Jaya at The Setai is finally here. Many South Floridans have been waiting for this new restaurant concept to open for many reasons. One of them being that Chopped star Mathias Gervais is the Executive Chef behind the concept. The second, of course, being the food. The restaurant, which seats 200 people, is serving very approachable regional specialities from Southeast and Northern Asian cultures. I have to admit, I had never tried Indian food before until the night I checked out Jaya. Definitely not disappointed. Jaya, which means ‘victory’ in Sanskrit, was chosen by the team to honor of The Setai’s renowned interior designer Jaya Ibrahim and the hotel’s first decade of successful Asian-inspired hospitality. Executive Chef Mathias Gervais and Executive Sous Chef Vijayudu Veena have collaborated to create standout dishes from Thailand, Vietnam, Korea, India, China and Japan. To start off I suggest you try the pork belly bao. This plate comes three to an order, so if you aren’t very fond of sharing I would order two. It’s that good. You have to order at least one dumpling, and my personal favorite at the moment has to be the truffle dumplings. These guys come with both white truffle mixed into the sauce, as well as topped with black truffle. Then for your main plates there are so many delicious dishes to choose from. For first timers I would suggest getting the thai plate. When I went to the restaurant the plate came with lamb bhuna, sea bass amirithabi, chicken masala, bhindi tamatar, eggplant kara curry, and saag chana. So flavorful, and the perfect dish to share. Don’t want to share? Order the sea bass, it literally melts in your mouth. Lastly, for dessert I would suggest you order the dessert tasting because that way you get to try a little bit of everything. Something to note here, this changes everyday depending on what the pastry chef wants make that day! So exciting. I tried the tofu cheesecake, almond bread pudding, nougat glacé, and the mochi.

Attended the friends and family preview tonight. I give this restaurant 5 stars because it really is! We shared an abundance of appetizers and main dishes and everything was incredible to say the least. My favorites include the papaya salad and chicken tikka. Our server Gretchen was Amazing and introduced us spicy fans to some incredibly spicy sauces. The atmosphere was appealing and sexy. Perfect for a date night. We will definitely be back.

I came here for dinner during Art Basel and their first week being open. The staff was fabulous from the start. The hostess let me chose my table close to the open kitchen where you can watch the chefs prepare the various courses. The Sommelier was very helpful in selecting a wine and actually chose the less expensive of the 2 bottles I was deciding between. I had the scallop dumplings(under the Dim Sum heading) to start and a lovely French Grenache blend to sip. The second course of chicken and coconut soup was just as wonderful as the first. I finished my meal with the pecking duck which was also delectable. To top it all off, the chefs gave me free Naan to try which came with an amazing peanut sauce that I dipped the duck in. I would recommend sitting by the open kitchen if you enjoy watching the action and taking in all the smells.

My friends and I came here last night to celebrate my 30th birthday and we could not have a picked a better place to do it! There were 15 of us and we were all accommodated with excellent service throughout the night and had the pleasure of dining on their Miami Spice prix fixe menu that changes every two weeks for August and September! The restaurant is classy and elegant with the beautiful courtyard pool as the backdrop. Definitely an impressive and romantic venue to bring a date to! I ordered their tempura snapper bao as my appetizer, the short ribs for my entrée, and the bread pudding for dessert! Bread and shrimp chips were also placed on the table beforehand and then we were also surprised by a taste of their refreshing summer roll compliments of the chef. So good! The snapper bao was my favorite! Perfect combination of sweet and savory sauce on a crispy light and flaky fish hugged by a soft warm bun. Divine! It truly was a special celebration not only because of the venue and amazing food but also because of the joy and happiness brought to the table by my friends! Loved my night out here with them! It was one for the books! :)

Was here for a birthday Friday night, it was a big group, about 15 of us and the service was the best service I have ever had on the beach.ever. blew my mind away. Service is what keeps me from dinning at a lot of Miami Beach restaurants(I get why it’s bad) Now to talk food.. .I had the Miami Spice menu, and it did not disappoint. Amberjack thinly slice cevice style, Korean bbq short rips, and nougat Glacé for dessert. All of it was perfect! Amberjack was fresh, short rip was tender and full of flavor. The dessert was nougat pistachio vanilla ice cream with a raspberry sauce. It was a nice suprise when we were served a complimentary small bite of bokchoy marinated in Asian spices. The only reason I don’t give it 5 stars is that they didn’t bring out the bread before our meal. My boyfriend ordered the pork loin which he ordered medium(so proud of him) beautiful piece of meat with bold flavors. His dessert was also interesting and yummy it was vanilla ice cream with what I think was a strawberry swirl inside of the ice cream scoop. Don’t forget to order a cocktail, I recommend the Saigon gimlet!

I’ve eaten here a few times on trips to South Beach, yet the atmosphere and ambiance of this place always blows me. Depending on the time of day, you usually have the option to sit inside the luxurious dining room or outside in the courtyard alongside of a gigantic pond. Both options are truly one of a kind experiences, complimented by world class service(they’ll treat you like royalty here) and perfectly made food items. You’re going to pay up for the experience, with a basic breakfast going to put you back $ 40-$ 50(a three egg omelet is priced at $ 18 alone). The dinner menu is stacked with Mediterranean style choices, most of which are perfectly executed and are truly unforgettable. For those of you who have some additional cash to spend, the Setai also offers a $ 10,000 eight-course dinner and wine pairing for 10 people. All in all, if you’re looking for truly unique dining options in South Beach, the Setai is your place. While the menu isn’t cheap, the décor, service, and quality of the food make the price tag well worth it.

Atmosphere is nice. The center piece of this restaurant is it’s large kitchen, right smack in the middle of the dining room. But it works! And they did control the food odor in the dining room which so many restaurants fail to do with the open kitchen style that is so ever popular now. The look is of luxury, with dark woods and great pop of color with their cushions and flowers. Very well executed. They started us with Sweet Potato Dumpling Amuse Bouche. Always nice when the Chef sends an amuse bouche. We moved on to the Octopus and the Foie Gras. The Octopus was solid. The Foie Gras was outstanding. We enjoyed it very much. For our main course we shared the Colorado Lamb Chop. Very well cooked and executed. The Truffle Mashed Potato was also excellent. For dessert we had their Winger Dome which is basically a chocolate mousse dome. It was very good. My wife also had a scoop of their Sea Salt Caramel ice cream. Very good as well. To end our dinner, the Chef than sent four Madeleines. Again, always nice to receive a parting gift! So good we took 2 home! Service was on point all night. So much so, I added additional tip to the already included 20%. As for wine, I brought my own for a $ 35 corkage fee. This restaurant offers an extensive Tasting Menu which we can’t wait to return for!!!
