a corner of Italy in Miami Beach: this is the only place where you can experience authentic tagliatelle and authentic lasagna. My personal favorite though? piadina salsiccia e cipolla, hands down! When my wife and I come here we usually start with an apetizer of piadina and tagliere di salumi e formaggi… look out for the tigella and gnocco fritto! they are the perfect complement to prosciutto crudo, salame and the various types of cheese. We then go for tagliatelle with ragu or tortellini with panna, homemade deliciousness, and we share dessert. Plenty of food! Service is attentive, they’ll make you feel like at home. Definitely one of our«go to» spots in Miami beach!

I am writing this review from heaven. Because last night, after I had the tortellini en brodo, I died and went there.

Food: Fantastic. This food is very well prepared, tastes very fresh. The dishes I tasted had a great texture and well balanced flavors. 5⁄5 Service: Very good service as well. Although it did take a LONG time for some dishes to come out. 4⁄5 Portions: Now this is where you will have to determine what you plan on, eating in a fine restaurant or satisfying your hunger. Portions are incredibly small, so this is mostly a «date» or «business meeting» type of place. Me and my 6 other friends left and ordered a pizza because even after desert we were all incredibly hungry, I guess we’re just pigs though since no one else in the reviews seem to have a problem with this or are way too classy to admit it… go figure. 2⁄5 Price: First of all $$ is a lie. My and my friends went there and had Entrée and Wine, a few had deserts. Ended up coming to $ 60 per person, before tips. You could go to a nice Steakhouse for this amount so make sure you know what you’re getting into 2⁄5 Overall, it’s a nice place if you’re looking to impress someone or just sample some authentic Italian foods and not«fast food Italian» but you have to realize you will be paying heavily for it.

Probably the best Italian food I’ve ever had and the closest you can get to Italy without being there. I’m so glad we ate at this authentic restaurant(thanks to reading Unilocal reviews while walking around Lincoln Mall Road)! The place functions both as a restaurant and as a small café. The dining room is extremely well decorated and makes you feel like you are in someone’s kitchen! It’s so cute and makes you feel right at home. We loved the flowers with stems made out of garden hoses on the tables! We were seated right away and greeted by a really sweet Italian waitress. We were pretty hungry and everything on the menu looked good. We ended up getting the Passatelli al tartufo(passatelli in truffle oil) and the tagliatelle with mushrooms, sausage, and cream sauce. We were brought out bread and even this was delicious and seemed authentic. It was warm, soft, and tasted really good with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The food came out very fast and was so so delicious. The pasta was fresh and cooked perfectly. there’s nothing like homemade pasta! I really loved my tagliatelle, it was so flavorful and it just hit the spot. The cream sauce was not too heavy and the sausage was also surprisingly light. The portions are definitely on the smaller side compared to Americanized italian restaurants, which was actually a good thing, since we did not feel too full and bloated after we ate. We ended up getting the homemade chocolate cake for dessert, which sort of resembled a molten chocolate cake. It was amazing! The chef even gave us a free little dessert of strawberries and whipped cream, which was a really sweet touch! Pricing is extremely reasonable for this level of food and won’t break the bank. It would be a perfect date spot! We loved it so much that we came back the next day for lunch before we had to leave Miami!

Fabulous brunch today! A neighborhood gem, quiet and out of the tourist area, just perfect for a relaxing Sunday! The lasagna bolognese, pear and cheese ravioli and tortellini bolognese were stupendous. Excellent wine and tiramisu. Wonderful service.

Stopped in for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. This spot is a very quaint and authentic Italian eatery. The service was very friendly and helpful. Waitress had a strong Italian accent which added to the charm. The food was by far one of the best Italian meals I’ve had in a while. I started with an eggplant parmigiana appetizer, followed by a bowl of Passatelli al tartufo(truffle oil) — delectable! Finished with an espresso and a house-made tiramisu which was absolutely to die for. The portions were just right, enough to satisfy your cravings and squeeze in a few courses. The flavors, the aromas and ambiance is enough to stop in any time I’m in Miami and I recommend to anyone traveling there. It’s very casual for lunch and great for a lunch with friends or a loved one. Not sure how it is for dinner but should be even better!

I keep giving high ratings on here, but I promise it pays off to do your homework. I am fairly new to Miami, and was very disappointed when I started trying restaurants in this beautiful city. My mistake was going to tourist places, where the food was overpriced and average at best. Have gone off the grid trying places locals frequent and have been pleasantly surprised. Via Emilia 9 for instance. Had the Tagliatella panna salsiccia e funghi($ 15.90), it was really really good. Those meals you want eat slowly and hope you never get full… a delicacy. Rating is based on taste and service. Not on a tourist venue, hence not very scenic, but it makes up in atmosphere and taste. You must visit this place to enjoy a good meal and leave the drinks to the tourist places. It’s so good you’ll have a good appetite

Great family, true authentic Italian food made from the heart. It’s a small venue but everything is made fresh(truly for real fresh). Business is run from the heart not for the wallet. So far, the best Italian restaurant I have gone to on South Beach. Also, no included service charge garbage here. Again, truly giving a service for the food and experience. I was pleasantly surprised with this store. Love it and will definitely return.

Great authentic neighborhood Italian restaurant. The décor is charming, and the food is quite good. The eggplant appetizer smothered in cheese was the star of the meal. My husband had the pasta with truffle oil which he thoroughly enjoyed. The serving size appeared small at first glance, but the pasta itself is so dense, he was satisfied with the amount. I had the tortellini stuffed with sausage & mushrooms, served in a cream sauce, and it was tasty. So why not 5 stars? This place is real deal. They pride themselves on importing all of their ingredients– which includes their cheeses. Im sure that appeals to 99% of people, but for pregnant women, that’s a problem. Their burrata, and most other cheeses, are unpasteurized. Pregnant women are prohibited from consuming any unpasteurized cheeses. That substantially limited the items I could choose from, and also put a damper on my experience, for fear of the rare chance of getting listeria. But if I wasn’t knocked up, I’d return.

A great authentic place off the beaten path. Just a short walk south from Lincoln Road. My wife and I had lunch here and ordered pasta and a panini respectively. Food was amazing. Service great. Prices reasonable for Miami.

I’m with Eve C on this one– I haven’t written a review on this joint because I want it to remain a hidden gem, locals spot I can walk to in 5 minutes. I stopped in on a Unilocal hunch with my ‘rents visiting from NY. It was pure gold and I was soooo in love with my waitress from Bologna. She explained so much about Via Emilia and I was schooled on a slow night, esp w the video playing on the wall about Bologna. I gauge Italian joints on their pasta Bolognese. This place blows it out of the water. My friend the king of Bolognese sauces from Manhattan has said its the best he’s ever had. He’s a picky bastard too! Lol! Everything I’ve ordered has rocked out. Different waitress every time– idk what’s going on with that situation, something is up… The salads are pretty big and I share them each time– love the Bolognese and the Modenese. Bread is fresh with olive oil and balsamic, although the the waitress was so slammed last night I had to get up and get it myself– along with no fresh grated anything all night. Hey Via Emilia– it’s ok to employ 2 waitresses! My only gripe :(4 ½ stars for this Not the most impressive wine list I’ve seen, but it’ll grow with time for sure. For pastas I’ve had the following: Tagliatelle al Ragu– ridiculous good Tagliatelle panna salsicicca y fungi– ridiculous good Lasagne fatta en casa– ridiculous good I took visitors here on a Tuesday night my treat– when I went to pay?!? It was 50% off entrees. WTF?!! Who does this in SoBe? This friggin awesome spot! They also give 20% discount on online orders! Don’t go here tourists– this is for us locals. See you Next Tuesday!

Not just any Italian restaurant, but an authentic regional one — trust me, I’ve eaten in Modena, Bologna, Florence, Maranello — this is the real deal. Always ask for the specials, some of the flavour combos are just unreal. The Prosecco is worth a try. Service is always fantastic too.

Very small and intimate Italian restaurant in a casual Environment Excellent and super friendly service Freshest burrata caprese salad I’ve ever had The pasatelli en brodo was EXACTLY like my Nonna used to make. FANTASTIC The special was ravioli with a sage butter sauce and was very good Delicious coffee and the secret message in a bottle dessert was inventive and fun to prepare. Definitely recommend reservations because this place is popular with Italians and fills up fast

Pasta made fresh daily, simple and unassuming, and fresh desserts. Delightfully simple, Via Emilia is just the place to go instead of battling the crowds of South Beach’s more popular thoroughfares. I first heard about Via Emilia in a CNN interview with Quest Love. Now Quest Love is one of those celebrities who I feel I can trust on the food front, and I’m glad I did. The pasta is fresh, served al dente and sauced appropriately. If you want to carb load, do not come here. If you want a never-ending pasta bowl, do not come here. If you want a bowl of pasta covered in a shroud of rich sauce bigger than your face, do not come here. But please, do come here if you want to treat yourself to quality handmade pasta with just the right amount of flavor that lets the pasta sing for itself. I split a salad with my dining partner, again nothing too fancy, but the ingredients were fresh which can often be overlooked in other restaurants. I ordered the Tagliolini con Tartufo made with bread, eggs, cheese, and nutmeg. It was cozy and delightful. I would easily go back and order it again. The pasta was al dente, which with fresh pasta, gives it the perfect chew. The nutmeg played subtly, adding just enough flavor to wow. My dining partner ordered the special, fresh ravioli stuffed with pears and ricotta and topped with a brown butter and balsamic reduction. It was also good. Definitely more brightness with the pear and balsamic than the cozy richness of the tagliolini but still, wonderful. We finished the meal with the tiramisu and strawberry tart, both made in house. The mascarpone custard was fantastic-creamy and soft and paired well with the subtly soaked ladyfingers. We went later around 8:30pm on a Monday night, and there were only 4 tables filled, so I cannot speak to what their weekend service is like, but the take reservations, so I suggest making them(better safe than sorry.) Our bill was $ 78: Split salad, two pasta dishes, two desserts, and two coffees. Not inexpensive but not outrageous for the area. Overall, Via Emilia isn’t a knock your socks off place. Rather, it’s the equivalent of easing your shoes off and leaning back to relax for the night. It is unassuming and intimate, two things that are sometimes hard to find in Miami Beach. If you want a great pasta meal without the pomp and circumstance I entreat you to stop by here.

This special place has some dishes that are truly authentic to it’s Emilia Romagna tradition The Gnocco fritto and Tagelle are so specific to a small but well know culinary region of note . The salads were delicious and fresh, and the pastas are homemade and so flavorful. The atmosphere was warm and inviting with a fun twist and the service was perfect in a city where service typically is an unknown art. I will definitely be back to try the other dishes prepared by the charismatic chef Davide.

Great authentic Italian pasta. All handmade at the restaurant. The bread they serve is great as well, soft in the inside and crunchy on the outside. The pasta I ordered was the Tartuffa and it was divine. I also ordered three different desserts, the strawberry crostata which was delicious, the chocolate cake and the mascarpone; all great desserts. The service is great, the waiters are Italian as well as the cooks. Also, all of the clients were Italians as well so that’s how you know you’re at a good Italian restaurant.

I’m hesitant to write this review, because I want Via Emilia to remain a hidden, locals-only haunt. But it’s too great to not sing its praises so everyone can go and check it out for themselves. Located off the beaten path on 15th St., but just a short block and a half from Lincoln Road, Via Emilia is serving up rustic homemade Italian favorites, from pasta to panini to meat and cheese platters. The service is so friendly, and the staff is eager to make recommendations, which is great, especially since there’s a few dishes on the menu which I have no frame of reference for! Everything is priced to include a beverage of your choice, be it wine, beer, or an Italian soda. And what a selection of wine to choose from. On my most recent visit, our server rattled off no less than 10 red wines from which I could make my selection(they also have white, of course!). I opted for a dry Lambrusco — a sparkling red wine — it was great! As for food, so far I’ve tried their passatelli al tartufo(gnocci-like pasta in truffle oil), tagliatelle with sausage and mushrooms in a cream sauce, and the Italian meat and cheese platter with assorted breads. Everything was delicious! Portion sizes were just right as well. My one complaint is that I wish they served the pasta a bit hotter. Prices are on point — expect to spend about $ 30/person with tax and tip(though significantly less if you get say, a panini). I’m not sure about prices on bottles or glasses of wine outside of what’s included, but I can’t imagine it’s too bad. Via Emilia is serving up delicious Italian fare, made with love, to ever-increasing crowds on South Beach. Get there soon — it’s totally worth battling the Alton Road construction!
