Such a wonderful gallery. I am so happy that we went and spoke with her before she closed the doors for good. She is an icon for the Wynwood Art scene.

The Grandmama of the Wynwood Art Gallery scene… This was the first gallery I attended, and from what I’ve read, the first one to birth Miami as an art destination. Though the art and wine thing started here, currently you can only partake if you’re serious about the art, and I’ll leave it at that :) Located in an two-story old furniture store which sat abandoned, it still has the raw concrete and exposed concrete beams which serve as an aphrodisiac to this engineer! Ms. Steinbaum is around during gallery night, and is always more than willing to talk to the visitors and teach about the art itself and techniques.(For example, I learned about the photographic technique of cliché verre last night: ) The art shown runs the gamut from paintings to sculpture and video works, all beautiful and thought provoking. But wait, I did mention it’s a two-story space! Though the art upstairs is the same interesting variety as downstairs, there’s also a balcony where you can take in the Miami night sky and Wynwood scene below you. The elevator is artistic in and of itself. check it out!

I liked a lot of the art in this gallery, I recently went for Art Walk so they had some beverages(of the alcoholic variety) and some of the art was actually interactive(which is always fun)! I wish they had some munchies but. well they didn’t. I want to go again to check out new exhibits as they come or for future art walks, its a convenient location to start at if you’re meeting up with a group and then head out from there!

I have to agree with the previous review, not about my mother(or yours) but about Bernice. She really has quite the talent for finding unique and mind provoking artists. As a result her gallery has been around for quite some time. What I also like is her open mind about other events and interested in the community. Her space is unique, even for a gallery… The two story building enters you almost through a side entrance to guide you into the exhibit spaces. The elevator the rear is dark and, last time I visited, featured a very simple yet effective film for the ride up. The second level has more general space and core that is divided into smaller areas for installations and special occasion exhibits. This is also where most of the time you will bars during events. Take a look at this fine place and share a word with Bernice. Your day, week, life will be better for it.

WHOISTHEMOSTBRILLIANTPERSONINTHEWORLD? I WILLSAYMYMOTHER but I want to say Bernice Steinbaum is a wonderful warm spirited person with high class taste and I love her for that. Her Gallery is home of the visionary with a daring pursuit of the arts and her collection is well known in the art scene. That makes her«The Best» around! To my opinion, more young folks should come and visit her one of a kind gallery in the Design District. Long before the whole infrastructure started and it got this new Scene;she was having her doors already open. Now it’s your choice to see on two floors young local, national artists with unique work such as fine arts, photography, sculptures or even modern audio art lectures. She also has a large spectrum of Exhibitions thru the year, that I want to highly recommend to you. Sometimes, you are lucky, and you meet the artist. Shake her hand and say hello. You definitly get an exclusive tour and that is up to you… no fee entrance! Check it out and you will leave with much more wisdom and another great fantastic experience in the art world.
