Café Mil now accepts mastercard. Even if it didnt, its a great place to get honest food (turkey chili, grilled cheese with tomato, or various hot meals) at astonishingly fair prices. No one glares at you when all you want to accompany your meal is water, and they provide generous quantities of lemons and hot sauce.

A reputable lunchtime gem, hidden in the maw of over priced, sub standard establishments that populate Brickell’s dinning options.
Café One Thousand (a/​k/​a/​Café Mil) is located in a tiny space in the lobby of the 1000 Brickell building. It is a modest operation, with little seating, and it does not accept credit cards. But it comes through with reasonably priced honest fare (tuna on toast, club sandwiches, lentil soup, greek salad, etc.), made promptly to order, without the BS that so many Brickell establishments have perfected, i.e. Lolita’s, PF Changs, Rosa, Balans, Badrutt’s, Baru, Sci Sci, and the list goes on.
Maybe not the place to bring your in-law’s, but a spot worth considering for a solid lunch on a Tuesday for under $ 8.
