Cardenas Pharmacy

I have been coming to this Pharmacy since I was 5 years old. They have exceptional services, very professional, and personalized. Unlike the BIG W or C which never has any of my prescriptions in stock. I once had to go to 10 CVS pharmacies because no one had my prescription and the pharmacy would not check to see which store did. Unbelievable.
Support the neighborhood Pharmacies, it is our only salvation against the Corporate Giant where a person is just a $$$ sign.
This one has it all!!!

Cardenas Pharmacy may have the same amount of items as a CVS or Walgreens all cramped in an eighth (¹⁄₈) of the space. OK, maybe I’m exaggerating, but this place is packed from top to bottom.
Among the items that you find here, well, mostly are geared to the older Hispanic community in the area. You find lots of toiletries that «abuela» used to have in her boudoir, all those soaps, talc powders and eau de toilettes that linger in the memories of most people that speak Spanish. But that is not all. This pharmacy also has lots of medical devices that seniors with needs require, like walkers, nighttime relief pails or pots, diapers, and other stuff.
The reason I came here is because I was looking for injectable B12 vitamin. I am not sure why the big drugstores don’t carry this vitamin anymore, or other injectable vitamins, or why they inflate the price of these items when they have them in stock. I paid $ 60 for an eighteen month supply that used to cost $ 400 at the big drugstore. The same bottle, the same manufacturer, the prescription was the same.
This place is pretty busy at all times. You may have to wait to get serviced, but if you have a question about medicine or an ailment, and don’t want to wait at the doctor’s office, they may have an answer for you, and a remedy! This is a common practice in Spanish speaking America, where the pharmacist can recommend a medicine, opposite to English speaking America, where this would be considered prescribing and therefore punishable by law. This creates a never ending queue, and for this reason a small parking lot is available in the back of the building.
WARNING: if you think you will be in-​and-​out and park on the city’s parking meters, make sure you put money in the meter.
All employees here are very helpful and friendly. All your question will be answered, if you wait. This place is adequately staffed, but the amount of customers that come here is a bit above the norm. These customers also like to talk as if they were the only ones in line, and they like to be pampered. Then again, who can tell «abuela» to zip it and move along?
For an everyday pharmacy/​drugstore, I have my reservations, obviously because of the wait. But if the big drugstores don’t carry your items, if you want to save lots of money in medicine, or if you have a simple question, check this place out. I’m glad I did.
