This use to be one of my favorite places close to home. The last couple times I’ve ordered for delivery the food is a complete fail. Today it arrived cold. The milanesa steak I ordered was more like just a breaded cold steak. The ham & cheese on the steak was just thrown on top of it. The chicken soup my husband ordered was all broth, no chicken & no veggies.

Great little spot to grab some authentic Cuban food in Kendall. Located just west of Zoo Miami, I was working in the area and looking for something quick and tasty. We were seated right away and handed menus. As typical for my Latin restaurants the menu items are written in Spanish but have the English translation below for us gringos. I was with a group of coworkers we were 4 in total. Everyone placed drink orders and the waiter brought out free Cuban bread for the table. They have great appetizers like Croquetas, Tostones and Maraquitas but I skipped them on this visit because we were in a bit of a hurry. Full menu with everything from beef, chicken, seafood and poor dishes. The menu is laid out that way which makes it easy to order. They also have some great soups and sandwiches. Our group ordered Vaca Frita which is kind of like a beef stew with shredded beef, another got a Cuban sandwich, another Bistec de pollo which is a grilled chicken breast topped with onions and served with rice. I ordered Masas de Puerco which is pro chunks and served with rice and beans. My food was excellent as always and the others were complimentary of theirs as well. I love this local chain as the food is always fresh and delicious. mthey have locations around town so I can always find when I’m in the mood for Cuban food. They also serve breakfast and they have a walk up counter for coffee which is a Latin tradition. Needless to say I’m a fan!

Breakfast is always on great! Exactly what I ordered. The servers are very nice and welcoming. They sit you right away which is wonderful when you’re ready to order. Had a cup of coffee and my son had eggs with toast. It was very yummy!

Overall the food here is pretty good. Not great but good. However, over time their service has seriously deteriorated. We’ve ordered delivery service from them several times in the past but over the last few months items from our order are either noticeably lacking in quality(i.e. lack of meat in sandwiches) or items are missing all together. This past Sunday was the WORST. We waited 40+ minutes to receive our food and they failed to deliver two orders of empanadas, rice & beans which were supposed to be included with an entrée we purchased AND the entrée that the rice & beans were supposed to come with didn’t have the sauce that it should have been cooked with. I don’t foresee us going back anytime soon. We’ve had it with their delivery service. We definitely won’t be ordering delivery from them ever again.

I really love the croquetas here and the arroz con mariscos is really good and affordable. It’s great for a date night or to eat out with the fam. But the croquetas are sooooooooo good, and they are constantly making new. Hope they don’t change their quality. Also the tronchos de pescado are on point as well.

We are frequent visitors to this restaurant. It is very convenient for us because of its location. Its only a few minutes from the house. However, we have decided to NEVER return. On many occasions it has taken over 5 minutes to even be greeted. Today’s visit was the worst. We were seated shortly after we walked in. When we got to the table, the table was very dirty. The hostess had to clean it before we sat. We sat there for over 7 minutes(I timed it because of the history here) without any contact from anyone. Nobody even acknowledged our presence there. Servers walked passed us as if we didn’t exist. Had the place been busy, maybe I would understand but we were one of four tables in the entire place. The service here is horrific. Please save yourself the frustration and visit another Cuban Cuisine. This one isn’t worth it.

I am a fan of most cuban food. Includinf La Carreta, Sergios and Versailles. This dissapoints. It has a 5 star cilantro sauce. 5 star time on food and thats about it. The ambience is very unatttactive the room temparature was 58 degrees way to cold to enjoy the atmosphere. Then when they turned it up by turning the a/c off. The food is nothing to write about the«masitas de puerco were 4 stars». The milanesa was 3.5 stars. The juices are good a bit pricey but fresh 5 stars.

The food here is delicious. The Vaca Frita //rice $ beans //French fries dish was very tasty. The portions are larger than average and the dishes are $ 12-$ 15. They lose a star because one of the people in our group of 6 did not get his food until we were all done. I’m not sure if they forgot but all of the food should have come out together. Other than that, no complaints.

I have been coming to Casavana’s since it was SERGIO’S. I have always loved this place, regardless of owner or name. I am only giving two stars because of the horrible service! I feel like the last few times I’ve gone to Casavana’s, the servers aren’t as attentive. But this time, my feelings were confirmed. Our server, young guy, came up to us after about 5 minutes and ask us what we wanted. No «Hi, how are you?» No «Hi. Welcome to Casavana’s. My name is ______.» NOTHING. Just, «What do you want to order?» I was kinda turned off by that right away. So «NAMELESS» as I will now call him, takes our order and shuffles off. i have sat through a meal of Vaca Frita & Bistec Empanizado(both delicious, cooked well, and fresh) with my mom, and«NAMELESS» has come by ONCE and checked on us. Our water cups are empty and it is 7:25PM on a Thursday night. There are 6 tables occupying the ENTIRE restaurant with a staff of at least 4 servers, plus a bus boy. My food was left virtually untouched(no, we did not get any appetizers) and the server didn’t ask if anything was wrong. I finally start to look around to see where he is, and NAMELESS by the kitchen, wiping silverware with a cloth to dry it, I’m sure, so he can do silverware or begin sidework. I get it, you’re at work, you don’t wanna be here, but if I even THOUGHT to do side work at my job whilst still having a table, I’d be dead meat, by my manager. I’m just so very annoyed with coming to Casavana’s and feeling like the servers are there to make a quick buck off of you, but I never have an issue when I order take out. And I guess Casavana’s will have to remain a restaurant where I don’t dine in, but order take out. NOWAFTERBOXINGMYFOOD, HECOMESANDASKS10MINUTESLATERIFWEWANTTHECHECK. ITISNOTBUSY. I DONOTUNDERSTAND. NAMELESS either needs to be retrained or gain some people skills bc that was bad. Will not be coming back for a while.

I wonder why the OX tail(rabo encendido) was removed from the menu. That was the only dish we would go there for. By the way some waiters need retraining.

It’s the nearest Cuban restaurant to my house and it’s a-ight. The black beans are decent and the Cuban toast is not bad. The service is meh. For some reason it’s always freezing inside.

This place is just plain nasty. They serve leftovers and they’re desserts are always old and moldy. The service is non existent. The only soups they ever have is a Plantain soup and Chicken Soup. Bottom line this is a sorry excuse for a Cuban Restaurant. Pretty insulting to the intelligence of the people who know what authentic Cuban food is. Usually the people that like this place are people who just basically don’t know how to eat or know how to appreciate good food.

Wow. You walk in here in the morning and the first thing you realize is how cold the place is. Waiters are wearing sweaters and you have to eat your food fast or else you’ll be eating cold . Food is alright, good place to eat when you don’t have an alternate choice of Cuban restaurant.

I love this Casavana! I have yet to encounter a bad experience. The food has always been great as well as the service. The servers that I usually have are older women who are sincere and very kind. Since I had surgery and am unable to drive, I ordered delivery($ 3.00 extra) I ordered the Casavana Breakfast($ 8.49) Comes with 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, either ham or bacon, tostada and coffee. I also got a side of hash browns for an extra $ 1.25. The portion is huge, I don’t eat a lot in one sitting so I have leftovers. Two big and moist(I hate that word) pancakes, lots of eggs and very crispy bacon! The delivery man was very nice and my food arrived warm. My favorite dish from Casavana is probably the Macas De Puerco which are pork chunks. I like it with rice and plantains on the side. The Ropa Veija is also very very good, they have it for a reduced price I think on either Tuesday’s or Thursday’s and I’m guessing everyone loves it bc it’s often sold out after about 7 o’clock!

Decided to have some soup(plantain) and a small sandwich at Casavana called(frita). Casavana i must say makes the most delicious plantain soup i have ever tried inside the soup it has whole plantains and chunks of pork that give it that amazing flavor. The frita on they other had wasnt so great the bread was a little hard and kept breaking when i would bite into it. I called and placed a pick up order but they do deliver but wanted to check out what the placed looked like. The order took about 15 minutes my friend Rosy that is also a Unilocaler ordered a chicken soup the price was $ 4.50 thats also how much my Plantain soup was as well. I would def. Recommend the spot if you guys enjoy Cuban food for a good price and want to be done quickly they have dining inside and out. Hope you enjoy!

I like Casavana but was not impressed with this location. We were greeted and sat down relatively fast. Waitress wasn’t as attentive. Food portions were smaller than Town & Country location. Pancakes were chewy and not cooked well. Batido de trigo didn’t compare to the ones I’ve had before, even the ones I’ve had at the Town & Country location.

So impressed by this place!!! I was not expecting the service and food I recieved. It sounds horrible, but I have long accepted that cuban restaurants usually have mediocre service and ok food, with few exceptions. Casavana is DEFINITELY an exception. For starters, the place is spotless. I have never seen a restaurant as clean as this one. At one point I got nitpicky and started looking in corners and nope, still spotless. Even the way they silverware is placed on the table is such a nice touch. Ambiance is very relaxed and the service is outstanding. She checked up on us often, was gregarious and actually got our order right(not a common thing in Miami!) The food was outstanding. I am not cuban, so my experience with cuban food is limited to the million restaurant’s in miami but I was blown away. Lets go in order. … The bread– good lawd! Buttery, garlicky pieces of toasted amazingness. Need I say more? Queso Frito– pretty sure this is a nicaraguan thing but idk where its from, it was not only pretty but delicious. The . bees knees. Etc. Not too greasy, not too salty, just right. Palomilla– cooked just right, generous size. It brings two sides and it will definitely allow you to take some home cause its ginormous. Good flavor. I asked for it without onions cause eww, onions, and it was still really flavorful. French fries(my specialty) were really really crispy in a good way and tasted like they were seasoned. My mom had the milanesa and I think we might be eating it for dinner for years cause it was huge. Tons of layers of… ummm…whatever it is whatever milanesas have. You’ll see the pics. Dessert– CHURROS! fancy versions of the ones you get for $ 2 in Hialeah but just as good. Perfect way to end a meal.
