I ate here a while back, but never got around to writing the review. 3 stars seems about it right — It was fine. I went with a group of 6& we all stayed pretty safe with the orders We shared the large dip platter as the appetizer — I enjoyed it, but not much can be said about it. My meal: Moussaka — Again, it was fine. but compared to Aegean around the corner, it does not compare. I also tried my cousin’s whole fish(forgive me, I’ve forgotten what kind of fish it was), and it was surprisingly good. Very delicately seasoned and the lemon added the hint of acidity to make this by far the highlight of the evening. For dessert, i tried the«Galaktoboureko»(a sort of custard with pastry) — it was the right level of sweetness, and the pastry was nice and warm — it was a decent way to end a decent meal.

This place is awesome for brunch! It’s got unlimited mimosas, what more can you ask for? The food is great! The Salmon Fillet Papillon is my favorite. It’s soft, tasty, and the vegetables its cooked with are awesome(i love leeks). Also its pretty healthy for ya. Definitely try the zucchini croquettes and the Greek ceviche. Pricey but worth it. The environment is nice, doesn’t feel too crowded and the service is awesome too.

I was very sad to learn that the owners sold the place and it closed! What a pity! A true loss for Miami!

This is THE worst service EVER!!! I came for my best friends birthday, group of 10. I love the fact unlimited mimosas, you are drunk before the food arrives. Got here at 110 food is arriving now at 340. Food is amaaaaaaaazing but just not worth the stress of bad service.

Service was poor. Food was just ok. Very overpriced. Had better greek food elsewhere for 1⁄3 the price. Best part was ambiance and décor. Probably wont be back.

The Greek yogurt is magical! As for the zucchini croquets: I think it needs a better sauce… Something to give it a kick. The eggs in the Adonis needs a pinch of salt and I don’t know, I just don’t like it. The phyllo wrap is boring just like the lamb sliders. Finally I wasn’t crazy about the French toast(didn’t like the spices). Sorry if this review seems harsh. This is why I don’t like writing them.

There is a lot of choice for Greek food around the Midtown/Design District area… namely, this place, Kouzina and Mandolin. I’d have to say that all three are great; however, this place has a more welcoming vibe, the prices are reasonable, the owner is very friendly, portions are big and overall I left very satisfied. Definitely will be coming back here.

Showed up for a brunch reservation and the host told us we couldn’t be seated for 20 minutes — despite the fact that there were at least 3 empty tables that could have accommodated us. The host claimed the kitchen was too busy. Wondering then, why did they take our reservation? Also, why do they even have a restaurant? The area was kind of desolate and we were starving so we waited. Only to be told we would have to wait ANOTHER20 minutes by the host. He was very rude and not apologetic or accommodating at all. He got into an argument with my friend asking if she«knew how to run a restaurant.» Seriously? At that point we left and went across the street to Harry’s, which was pleasant and delicious. Egg and Dart won’t be open much longer with service that poor!

Ever since I moved around the corner from this place(and pass by it at least twice a day) I’d been wanting to check it out. I finally went last Friday to take part in their happy hour. Now their happy hour is pretty fantastic — ½ off all appetizers(except the grilled octopus), $ 4 beer and wine, and $ 7 signature cocktails. Their menu includes a very extensive list of appetizers, so we were able to make a pretty hearty meal out of a few of these. *Spanakopita. solid, but nothing out of this world. *Large Dip Sampler. the tzatziki and the eggplant dip were very tasty, the hummus was OK, and the fish roe dip was so salty it was almost inedible — avoid this. Also, they really charred the pita that was served with it. *Cheese Saganaki. very salty, but also really good — this was the favorite. Other happy hour bonuses — our bartender was really great, and so was the cucumber martini I tried here(very refreshing). Bottom line — if you’re looking for good food and drink at reasonable prices, definitely check out their happy hour. If you’re looking for great greek/mediterranean fare, head down the road to Mandolin Aegean Bistro.

Not bad, but overrated. 3.5 stars for now. The ambiance is great, if you are into Santorini like décor of white walls with white wood molding and blue accents. Its airy with select booths with pillow seating, which lends a comfy touch. When we were seated, the complimentary plate of bacon and cinnamon cookies arrived within seconds. That cannot be said if the rest of our stay. We had to ask for water and coffee refills, even though the restaurant was not full and 2 servers were working. Our waiter was nice enough to prepare me a Greek frappé, which i thought was nice and brought memories back of my Greece vacations as a kid. I had the Pistachio crusted French Toast. The portion was moderate considering that Challah bread is fairly airy. The fruits on the plate could have been more as well… the seemed more like decoration rather than an accompaniment to the dish. I liked the syrup they served. I believe it was a home-made sugar syrup with some honey with a hint of anise after note. My friend Ute L had the banana pancakes, which were advertised with a spicy banana sauce. Those pancakes were DRY. I believe I know were the problem lies, the chef creating these dishes does not like fruits. Once again you could count the slices of banana on the stack of not-so-fluffy pancakes. My other friend had Salmon au papilote — I think that was by far the better dish of all. They were forthcoming in offering us a side of the greek ceviche because they did not have the orzo, but later brought us an entire side of orzo to go. Sweet! We also had the sample platter — definitely something you want to try, if you are in a group. It is served with grilled pita bread. As a Greek I had to try to Galactoburico and can say that I had far better ones. They obviously warmed it up in the microwave, which made the phyllo loose its crunchiness and created a resistant custard filling. Oh well — live and learn. I would probably go back to try some of the real authentic Greek dishes.

I really wanted to love this place. With it’s cool name(although I don’t get it) and it’s beautiful all white tables, polished concrete floors it feels modern, clean, bright and airy. The service and food however, just mediocre. For starters, bottomless mimosas with brunch for $ 15 is a really good deal if that’s your thing. I ordered just regular coffee and had to keep asking our waiter for refills, which he should have been on top of, considering they weren’t that busy. Same problem with water, no refills, even after we asked for them. The mezze platter is nice for sharing, the best part being the fresh tomatoes, herbs and eggplant dip. Pita was nicely charred, just wish they offered a whole wheat option. The Greek«ceviche» is very good. Big pile of fresh octopus with lots of lemon. Refreshing on a hot Miami afternoon. Salmon baked in parchment was a generous portion. Since the salmon steams inside the paper in it’s own juices, it is very moist. I usually don’t like things baked en papillote but this dish worked. French toast. The bread was sliced too thin and was dry but the honey pistachio crust was tasty, reminiscent of baklava. Pancakes SUCKED. I’ve seriously had better pancakes at IHOP, Denny’s or out of a Hungry Jack box. Yes, folks, I wasn’t always a discriminating eater. The pancakes were thin and dry as cardboard. The opposite of moist, fluffy and pillowy. Where was my banana sauce when I desperately needed it??? The menu description«Banana Pecan Pancakes, Spicy Caramelized Banana Sauce» is totally misleading. There was no trace of pecans or a banana sauce on my plate. Instead, plain banana slices and simple syrup heated up with butter and some cinnamon, way too sweet but the pancakes were otherwise inedible. What a let down, considering how easy it is to whip up pancake batter. Dessert was another let down. Galaktoboureko sounded great on paper but here is one of my biggest pet pieves. Restaurants that MICROWAVE food. No self respecting restaurant kitchen should even own a microwave. Gordon Ramsey would have a conniption. The custard itself was warm and had just the right amount of sweetness. The phyllo layer on top had clearly been refrigerated and microwaved, hence it basically turned into rubber, couldn’t even cut through it with our spoons. The liquid honey on the bottom of it was just way too sweet, it would have been better without it. Sorry, E&D, bad pancakes and microwaved dessert deserves no more than 2 stars in my book but the salmon and ceviche saved you. Hit or miss.

I always run to Miami when I need to feel alive… the city that never sleeps… or is it the city that sleeps around? The beautiful beaches, the warm ocean… the amazing weather, the fun loving people, the sexy men and women, the hotel bars and lounges, South Beach, the European, Latin and Caribbean energy mixed together… so much to love about Miami, everything that LA will never be! Silly me forgot that last week was Spring break-really bad timing on my part! So long story short, I ended up at Egg &Dart in the Design District to avoid the crazy Spring Breakers who had taken over South Beach and the drunken circus and mayhem that followed them everywhere they went. Sunday afternoon we ended up taking a 25 minute cab ride to the Design District for Brunch with the intention of trying out the highly popular Michael’s Genuine Food restaurant. So of course we get to MGF, the place is packed to the hilt, a few people waiting around for tables even though there were some tables that were open-I guess for reservations only. My partner in crime and I were both famished! So we get to the hostess stand and we can already sense the not so friendly demeanor; we were not surprised when she said with an air of self importance«It is going to be a 45 minute wait.» I guess it is customary for patrons to wait that long for a table at MGF being the new«it» restaurant and all… well, for now. My buddy and I were like thank you, we will go sowhere else-there is no way we were waiting 45 minutes for a meal, unless it was cooked by God herself. THERESTAURANT: Roaming around the Design District we stumbled upon Egg and Dart– standing there so simple and unassuming. The décor is contemporary — white tables and chairs, cushioned-booth like sitting, with shades of blues thrown here and there– not over-powering but very calming indeed. Incidentally, I had read a very bad review about Egg & Dart regarding some service related issue so I was a little bit wary but as I said we were hungry and this restaurant basically fell on our feet, you can’t say no to Kismet, right? Plus, And truthfully, I am obsessed with anything Greek! So we were sat by this gorgeous Ethiopian looking hostess with a warm and beautiful smile(MGFPLEASETAKENOTES!) Not before long, a server by the name of Gus came by to introduce himself and to take drinks orders. My buddy had to repeat everything to me because I was lost in Gus’s Greek God hotness… Oh my! Apollo himself! And then all I heard was«all you can drink Mimosas for $ 15» Well that brought me back to earth! So I asked my friend«did he really say all you can drink Mimosa? You are English!» My friend goes«Well, we will see how long it takes before they catch on « THEFOOD With compliments from the chef, we were given little tastings of these delicious tiny muffins along with a serving of the most delicious bacon ever! I was sold on this restaurant before the food we ordered arrived! I guess that is all you need to do to get me to fall in love– feed me some BACON. That is how much I love bacon… If i ever have a kid in this world, he will be named Bacon or Bacone for a girl… the«e» is silent. Back to the food, we ordered to share: 1. Grilled Lamb Sliders –Spicy Feta Spread, Fried Onion, Potato Bun, Greek Fries 2. Greek Ceviche-Octopus, Shrimp, Snapper, Citrus Ouzo Marinate, Plantain Crisp 3. Bagel & Lox-thin toasted bagel, Smoked Salmon, Cream Cheese, Cucumber, Tomato, Onion, Capers Every little bite was like ambrosia! We just looked at each other and agreed that we were having a meal we would both remember for days even months to come. Meanwhile, the Mimosa kept coming and coming and coming non stop I tell you! Every time I see Gus, I want to hide my glass because he was not convinced that I had enough Mimosas and well, he kept on pouring! 5 hours later, Gus with the help of another jovial young Greek server kept taking turns in pouring our Mimosas-the glass is empty they refilled it. It is a good thing that I never get drunk on Champagne or I would have been on all fours crawling back to the hotel worse than a spring breaker. Never in my life I have sat at one restaurant from brunch to Dinner! By the 6th hour around 7 pm we decided to order dinner… and the Mimosa’s never stopped by the way even though it was dinner time. We let Gus pick us some appetizers consisting of a delicious Greek Salad as they said«the best you will ever have», some meat balls, Zucchini Croquettes with Tzatziki and a a few other dishes that were all equally orgasmic! As if the good food was not enough, they were playing my favorite PINKMARTINI!!! And then after we got the buzz going, they switched to super hot Greek house beats from Mykonos ! I was loving it! So the moral of the story is, if you are ever in Miami, i highly recommend you stop by at Egg & Dart for brunch… and dinner.

$ 15 bottomless mimosas during brunch. So the hubby and I were looking for a brunch place this past Sunday. Everything in the area had an hour wait. I love Egg & Dart so I told the hubby let’s just go have lunch instead. Disappointed that we didn’t get to have mimosas, we walk into Egg & Dar and to our surprise we are greeted with a mimosa. SCORE! $ 15.00 bottomless mimosas is what we got AND they mean bottomless! My glass was filled every 10 minutes. The food was delish as expected. I had the steak and eggs which was perfection. Try the pork mini«burgers.» They are delicious and flavorful. You also get a little plate of muffins and bacon on the house. Why not 5 stars? The food took forever. They apologized for the delay but we literally waited over an hour for our sons waffles. We had to ask like 3 times for them. Our appetizer came half an hour after our meal. I am chalking it up to the fact that maybe they were having an «off» day.

Being forced out of our home on a Saturday night by our teen ager who insisted we have a «Date Night»(read: her best friend was over for the night and they wanted to play Rock Band without the ‘rents about), we wanted to try somewhere new, somewhere we haven’t been before so of course I consulted with my good friend Ken D. He had a few suggestions, this one was top of his list so I, being someone who doesn’t eat Mammals or Poultry found this menu to be exactly what I was looking for. We wanted to arrive at around 6 — 7 to avoid the crowd, we didn’t make a reservation. I know better because its really hard to get my hubby out on time. Arriving at 7PM, with a crowd of people here to celebrate a birthday, the hostess asked if I had a reservation. I said no, and saw a flicker in her eye that read«Are you kidding me?» but she sat me down anyway. Later seeing how incredibly crowded the restaurant got, I understood why. From the moment I sat down I was being fawned upon. I was taken aback since in Miami I am wholly unused to this kind of service. I actually had to wonder if I had been mistaken for someone important. Texting my hubby to hurry up and park because I wanted them to fawn all over him, the bread came with the most AMAZING Tzatziki just chock full of fresh garlic. My dear hubby arrived too late, I had bread for him but no more Tzatziki. Our waiter Daironsito(yes I had to look at the receipt to get the spelling correct) was engaging, sweet and on spot. Definitely a part of the reason our experience was so good. I wanted to try a few things so we went with the Pikilia Appetizer, Saganaki and a Salmon Pappillon to share. The Pikilia has: Tzatziki, Hummus, Taramosalata, Melizanosalata and Tirokafteri. Everything was out of this world, but our minds were blown with the Tirokafteri. It was just spicy enough, totally delicious. We loved it all. The Saganaki was also amazing, we realized that those two appetizers were more than enough food for the both of us. So good. Then the Salmon came out. I noticed later that many tables had ordered this dish by the distinct wax paper«empanada» and definitely understood why. It is cooked so perfectly, seasoned so well, we enjoyed every bite. I was so full by the end I thought I was going to have to be rolled out. Now I must say that I didn’t love the Orzo, it was the only part of dinner that was just meh, so I didn’t eat it and focused on the rest. I am looking forward to coming for brunch. This was a wonderful experience. What was bizarre was the girl who walked into the restaurant in a bear suit. Head, claws and all… that birthday group was quite eccentric.

Last night, we had an impromptu dinner at the bar of Egg & Dart which required… no demanded an update to my review for the following reasons: 1. The Greek Salad cocktail(Yes, cocktail!) is a bit of heaven in a glass. Those of you who know me know I enjoy a well-crafted, inventive cocktail, and this was one of the best I’ve ever had. Picture a Greek salad meeting a Bloody Mary(with Gin) and dancing gracefully together in a glass, and you begin to get the idea. Tomato water, peperoncini, kalamata olives, gin… I had to have two it was that good. While I’d like to try making this concoction at home the work of making tomato water will most likely send me right back to Egg & Dart instead. 2. The grilled octopus was PERFECT! Tender, charred, and unlike any I’ve had before. Being of Sicilian descent, octopus is always on our Christmas Eve menu, and this left all previous incarnations in the dust! If you’re not an octopus fan(which I wasn’t) you’ll enjoy this. Try it… you’ll like it. 3. The service at the bar was wonderfully friendly, fast, and fun. Sarah the bartender made us feel right at home, and Nico even sent over a wonderful dessert as a surprise. Given that this was only our second time here, and that we were remembered from a year ago, that move was so classy and appreciated. So, so sweet! The place was jumping last night which was great to see. Energy, laughter, and joy filled the place. Of course, that could be the Greek Salad cocktails talking.

I came here for a business lunch with 2 others, arriving just after noon on a Friday. One of two things is true: Either this place makes its money in the evenings and on weekends, or unfortunately it may not be around much longer The entire time we were here during peak lunch time at the end of the work week, we were the only people in the house, aside from 2 patrons that came in just as we were about to leave. The service I must say was very good, though the one thing that struck me throughout the meal was the music they were playing; It was definitely an eclectic mix, not just traditional Greek music, and was a bit louder than it needed to be, especially since the three of us and the staff were the only people in the place. As an appetizer we ordered a Greek salad to share. As others have commented, they serve it properly here — Sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, red onions, green peppers and capers with a nice sized slab of feta cheese placed on top. The salad was very flavorful and was the perfect size for 2 or 3 people to share as an appetizer. For the main course, I ordered the chicken kebab which was served with a sliced tomato salad topped with crumbled feta cheese and Greek fries. The chicken kebab was good, but not on my list of things to order again if I return. One of the people in our party ordered the grilled octopus and was disappointed, saying it was burned. One comment I would make is that the prices here, at least on the lunch menu, were quite reasonable. This is especially true given the location, the décor and atmosphere here, and knowing what some other restaurants in this general area charge on average. It’d be nice to see more people patronize Egg & Dart!

Egg and Dart is like one of those relationships we’ve all been in. You know, the ones where you stay in it long past its expiration date because when it’s good its soooo good… even though it is so infrequent. Here’s what I mean: I came for friend Bday party. She chose this night because it was Ladies night and ladies drink«free» I was hungry and was going to order food as well. After sitting at the table for about 20 minutes and no service, I went to the bar for a drink. That’s where I learned that only wine, prosecco, and well drinks were free. I really wanted a Mojito so I requested that. The bartender(super hot, and friendly) told me he would make me the best mojito I’ve ever had. I waited at the bar while he continued to prepare lots of drinks for other people.(huh?) My waiter comes over to the bar, introduces himself(super friendly) and offers to bring my drink to the table when it’s ready. He also tells the bartender to make 2 mojitos.(why?) I stayed at the bar since nothing was happening with my drink and waiting at the table with no service seemed like a waste. Finally my drink was ready. Yes, it was great. Yes, the bartender kept his promise. Yes, I did the waiter’s job and carried the 2nd drink back to the table for one of the other guests since no one else was around. Finally the waiter takes my order promising he will prepare my Horitaki salad without peppers as I requested. After a long wait, it arrives WITHPEPPERS. Overall, it was a nice experience because the atmosphere was lively. However, I don’t think I’d go back. Here’s why: Pros: ample parking in the area. Hot wait staff who are super friendly when they finally show up. The food is fresh and tasty. Cons: The music is too loud to talk to the people you came here to see The super friendly staff are hard to find when you need something.

3.5 Stars — Egg & Dart is a great addition to the Midtown corridor. The chic white interior is very nice in its simplicity and is definitely reminiscent of the Greek Isles. My friend is a frequent customer of Maria’s restaurant so we were very excited to try the menu here. First the good — The food and the service are awesome. We started with the Grilled Octopus and Saganaki which were both good but the server suggested we try the Lamb tips in eggplant which were GREAT. The lamb was very tasty topped a babaganoush like spread which was to die for. For entrees we had 1) Greek salad(asked for grilled chicken on it) — very very good and very large with plenty of feta. 2) lamb chops which were yummy. The service was impeccable with food and drinks coming out very swiftly and a couple of runners always nearby clearing the table and refilling the waters. Now the bad — The price point on some items are way off. The grilled octopus was $ 15 for a minuscule serving. Not a good deal. Even worse is the lamb chops which at $ 36 were an absolute rip off. The medallions although tasty were very much on the smallish side and was not a lot of food. To make matters worse they were out of the more reasonably priced lamb shank($ 22) and pork chops($ 22) so we pretty much had no choice but to order the lamb chops. Also surprised that no Moussaka or Pastichio were on the menu although I was told a «Baby Moussaka» will be offered as an app in the future. My buddy who frequents Maria’s said that the saganaki there is flambeed at your table and is much better. We had a chance to talk with Costa the owner who is a great guy. He chatted us up and even bought us a round of drinks. They are going to start hosting fixed price brunch on Sundays sometime in October where they roast an entire lamb and include drinks for $ 15 or so. Really sounds like a great idea, we’ll definitely check it out. I am digging this place and will definitely return. Overall it was a positive experience. The menu definitely needs some tweaking(price on some items) or else this would have been a four star review or higher.
