Orange Bowl Stadium

This was a special place. For an American football college bowl fan, this storied stadium was probably one of the top places to see a new year’s day (ish) bowl game. Part of its allure is its location in eclectic Little Havana. After the game, you could take in the sights, sounds and food of an awesome neighborhood. R.I.P.

This was a historic land mark for the city of Miami and its fans also for the university of Miami, it is unbelievable and sad that it was destroyed after so many years and so much history only to be built for a baseball stadium. Who knows what they were thinking.

Best and most feared college football stadium in college football history. 3 of 5 national championships from UM were here. 58 game home winning streak here. So many memories. It was in an awesome location too. The quaint homes of the Cubans and other Latins in the area became parking spaces and the vendors took the periphery to sell the most delicious sausages imaginable.
The personality, character, and feeling of this place are irreplicable. It’s a complete tragedy it won’t be around soon. The smell of beer and bowl burgers in the hallways was intoxicating. I spent my high school football years coming here the day after our Friday high school games. Great memories here and it breaks my heart that they have to put it to bed. Rip 1937 – 2007.
