I broke my wrist in a snowboarding accident, so when I came home to Miami, I was on the hunt for a good orthopedic surgeon. The University of Miami hospital is close to where I live, so I made an appointment and came in to see Dr David Chen, who specializes in all hand/finger/wrist injuries. If this review was only for Dr Chen and his staff, I would give the 5 stars, hands down. The staff is incredibly friendly, and every visit with Dr Chen went pretty well. Yes, sometimes the wait times were longer than I had expected, but that’s just like any other DR’s office. Dr Chen is very nice and makes you feel comfortable. He clearly outlined everything I needed to know, from possible complications(no matter how low the possibility), and was up front about what I needed to do in order to ensure that my wrist healed well, and quickly. I appreciated his straight forward nature, it seems not all doctors are like that, as if they don’t want to scare you with possibilities of complications. He was great answering all of my questions including what I could/couldn’t do at work, etc. The only reason I took off a star was because of the billing process. I guess because of the way U of M is set up, you get separate bills from different departments, instead of just getting 1 bill per appointment, which was really confusing at first. When I called into their customer service line with questions about all the separate bills I was receiving, I was on hold for at least 30 minutes and then for another 20 as we tried to talk through my bills. Would that experience stop me from coming back to Dr Chen? Absolutely not. Should I break my wrist again this ski season, I’ll definitely go back to him. Parking: They have street parking(paybyphone) or there’s a parking lot that I think was around $ 7 flat for the day Where’s the office: Go into the Bascon Palmer Eye Institute front doors, and immediately on your right is a stair case, go down those stair to get to orthopedics. No, there aren’t any signs outside.(I didn’t see any)
