Checked this place out while doing laundry next door. Service was warm and friendly. Patties were just as warm and notably fresh and flavorful. We ordered 3 different items to try. Curry chicken patty, Jerk Lobster patty, and Sweet plantain tart. The lady behind the counter suggested coco bread wrapped around the patties. Although it did taste good, it was a little bit of a carb overload for me after just one bite and I chose instead to save the bread for breakfast the next morning. As far as authenticity goes, I am not very familiar with Jamaican food to be the judge of that but everything we ordered was very fresh, flavorful, and well seasoned. I’m giving them only 4 stars because it would have been nice if they had a table or two to sit at. I will definitely return here. Going to try the rum cake next time!

I haven’t had Sonia’s in a couple years, but suddenly I decided that I absolutely had to have some patties. I don’t think the filling was as good as it used to be– hence the 4 stars instead of 5– but it’s still good. The patties are flaky without falling part. I had a plantain and a chicken curry. The chicken curry was slightly more bland than I had hoped. The plantain is more of a dessert patty: very sweet and flavored with cinnamon. My husband had the spicy beef, which he said was his favorite of the 3. Service was good and the place smells great. There is only a bench inside to seat, so it’s more of a «to go» place. The patties are made to order and take about 5 – 15 minutes to make, so calling your order in first might be a good idea if you don’t want to wait around. There’s actually tons of parking in this little strip mall, and there is a bike rack right outside of Sonia’s. Every once in a while they have special lobster patties, which are very rich. They used to have spinach patties years ago, which I hope they decide to bring back one day given that the only vegetarian option is the dessert-like plantain.

Living in South Miami-Dade, I had the opportunity of trying Sonia’s Patties. And oh my goodness… they are delicious! Upon first arriving you will miss it, lol! It’s located across the street opposite Miami-Dade College South. I think I had to circle a couple of times, park and walk to find the place. Upon entering the smell of the patties are intoxicating. It’s take-out only so there is no place to sit and eat. Because they are made to order you will have to wait a few minutes. But once you acquire the delicious goodness, be careful as they come straight from the oven. I swir I think these are the largest patties I have ever tasted! I would advise to wait and let it cool off for a few minutes. I know it will be tough as the waffling of the smell creeps to your nose. As for as customer service, no problems what so ever.

If your looking for the best Jamaican Patties in Miami its here. Its a hole in the wall with no place to sit and eat, but I promise it will be one of the best(if not the best) patty you’ll ever eat in your life. These patties are HUGE and made to order so they are always FRESH and HOT! The coco bread is phenomenal, and makes the perfect combo when you stuff a patty in it. The location is great because the parking lot never gets packed, so its always a quick and easy bite to grab. It is also right in front of MDC so the prices are college student friendly. MUSTTRY!

Horrible service, the lady who takes your order could care less about you as a customer. I’ve got to say I’ve never met a ruder person in my life. Please do yourself a favor and try Marie’s Patties, taste better and the service is top notch compared to this place! And as far as the Patties go, frozen and taste old. You’ve been warned! Stay Away!!! And if your wondering why I won’t this review, all the credit goes to the rude lady who is always there taking orders… Smile now… Beware of this place… Oh yeah and she screams at her 89 year old mother who is the cook in the back… Anyone who abuses there mother imagine how they’d treat customers!!!

It’s always good to go to a place that lives up to its positive reviews. Located in a small strip mall directly across MDCC this place is awesome! The service was very friendly and the menu is a «no nonsense» menu. Meaning you can have a patty or a patty! Don’t try to be complicated. I decided to try a mild beef w/coco bread, a curry chicken & a lobster patty accompanied by a Kola Champagne. Easily they win the award for BESTPATTY! It was VERYHOT, Very fresh and Very Delicious! I will recommend that you call your order ahead because it can take up to 15 – 20 minutes as the patties are made to order. Also make sure you let the patty sit for at least 5 – 10 minutes because they’re scorching hot! The coco bread was phenomenal! I’ll definitely return. They could use a few seating areas for those who want to eat it there.

I grew up coming to Sonias. The quality is just as I remembered 20 years ago. They have been open for much longer then that! It’s not a dine in restaurant so be prepared to take out. The patties are steaming hot when you first get them, so giving them 10 – 15 minutes to cool is recommended. The ladies are very nice, and patties delicious! There are a variety of meats to choose from, and at different levels of spice. Great prices as well!

There is nothing close to this quality in Miami in my opinion. I drive all the way down from Wynwood just for these patties. Perfect Jamaican patty. And Sonia is a great business owner. She stayed open an extra 15 minutes one day when I ordered pickup a little later than I should have. Amazing!

Best place to come for freshly baked patties and coco bread. They offer all sorts of variety of patties. Also the rum cakes are sooooooo good. During my Miami-Dade days, I would come here during a break from class to satisfy my patty craving.

This small store is located almost directly across from the entrance of Miami dade community college in kendall. I think it is a family runned place by a chinese jamaican family. This small store only sells a couple things but mainly Jamaican patties. They also have coco bread, rum cakes, and sodas. I saw they had signs for lobster(curry) patties but they mainly seem to sell(or is at least popular) mild or spicy jamaican patties. They are very good, fresh, and baked to order. All of them cost the same $ 2.75. The spicy one gets a red dot on it and mild one dosent. You might want to call ahead if you don’t want to wait a long time because if you don’t, you will be waiting lol. Everything is delicious. Oh, no seating so make sure you have somewhere nearby you can eat it before the patties get cold! lol. I def recommend getting a dozen half and half because its the best deal(and you get a box that way– easier to drive with in the car). Def would recommend this place for someone looking for good jamaican patties. * It is hard to get into and out of this small parking lot/strip mall. And they don’t accept big bills(50 or 100s)

Sonia’s is the best! I gave it a five star because this is a real 5 star patty. I love the mild beef. It has a delicious crust and it’s not a bit greasy. She really fills every single corner in there with pure beef! You may have to wait a few minutes but that’s because they are made to order. You know it’s good when they don’t even have tables and people still go to wait! They have coco bread and the yummiest ever rum cakes. Everything is so home made and delicious! If you like lobster, now is the time to go as they are in season. The lobster curry patties are yummy too! It’s a little hole in the wall off Killian and 109 ave in a shopping center across Miami Dade college. Worth your while and your taste buds will thank you!

They mainly have Jamaican patties here. They also have coco bread, rum cakes, and soft drinks. Patties are made FRESH!!! I got spicy beef patty and lobster curry(limited time offer). Beef patties here are delish! Not only they bake it fresh the patty is FULL of meat no air pockets here. The curry lobster had good chunks of lobster meat, but I thought it was too salty. The crust too I believe it is home made. It does not have the same texture as the majority of patties but it is just as flaky and I would say crunchier. The rum cake I did not try but I bought one for le beau. He said the coconut rum cake was moist and you could the rum without it being overpowering. In his opinion it was one of the best! They also have Jamaican black rum cake, pineapple, coconut pineapple. OPENMON-SAT11am-6pm!!!

This is a no frills, no gimmick, straight up Jamaican patty shop. If you want good Jamaican dishes head a little bit up north to Jamaican kitchen on Sunset. If you want the best patties in Miami, you must come here. They are fresh and always made to order. The prices are a bit steep, but the quality is amazing! They offer curry chicken and either hot or mild beef and occasionally have lobster patties on the menu, but as far as savory food goes that’s about it. They also have the standard Jamaican drinks, Bigga Cola, Ting, Ginger beer, etc… and some rum cakes, coca bread, etc… but the real star here are the flaky, mouth watering piping hot patties! A must stop if your in the area!

Jamaican Patties… yummi! This place has been for quite some time, they have built their reputation thru time! Patties are $ 2.25 each, they have several types: mild beef, spicy beef, curry chicken, and even lobster! Lobster one is not a regular… but interesting, I don’t know how would I feel eating a Lobster Pattie… hhmm… maybe not eating the whole thing. My favorite is the Spicy Beef, it’s perfectly flavored, although if you don’t do spicy… maybe stay away from this one. Spicyness gets stronger as you bite more. Patties are MADETOORDER, so yes you will have to wait, but it’s definitely worth it! HOT and crunchy when you first bite! Yummi!!! Beware of the hotness!

Sonia’s Patties is in the shopping center across from Miami-Dade — you know, the one with the Starbucks and Subway? If you are in the mood for a Jaimaican patty this is a good spot to hit. I wouldn’t say it’s the best but it isn’t too often you stumble upon jaimaican patties in Kendall. The location here is great and central for those of us passing by, but don’t expect to sit down and eat here, it’s more of a to-go type place. What stands out the most with Sonia’s are the different variations to the standard beef patty. You can have it with shrimp if you like or maybe you prefer curried chicken. And the best part of all is the wait for about 5 to 10 minutes because you know they are making it fresh, not reheating it in the microwave.
