D is on point. Shop runs tight. Short and sweet. Show up on schedule because time is money, magic is worked and it doesn’t take long because when you know what you’re doing he makes it look easy… Woke up with head like a Brito painting, walked out ready for the Grammys. Legit.

I diligently wait for Todd to fly into Miami. Luckily he does that frequently enough that it’s never an issue. I’ve been going to him for several years now and he was recommended to me by a girlfriend. I soon realized that he cut a lot of my friends’ hair!

Have been going to Emily for a couple months now and my hair has never looked better. I came in after having my hair fried literally from a bad hair straightening treatment. She has done wonders to bring my hair back to health. The color is great and the haircut is terrific. Like the texts to confirm appointments. Emily runs on time and that is really appreciated. It is a challenge to find parking nearby and the valet charges a fortune and last time took ½ hour to get my car. Plan to park in the garages by Target and walk over. Lastly, the front desk experience leaves a lot to be desired. It is not the first time that I have come in and the receptionist has not said ‘hello”, asked me if I have an appointment or anything of the sort. Its a shame because she is a pretty young woman with a surly attitude and no smile.

After reading all the good reviews I decided to give this place a shot. I have thick curly hair and wanted to find someone that knew how to cut curly hair. Well I think I’ve definitely found my stylist. They set me up with with Carolyn and as soon as she said«Im gonna cut it dry» I knew she knew what she was doing. She cut curl by curl until it was perfect. Thank you! I would definitely recommend this place to my curly haired girls.

So I have been a born and raised New Yorker specifically Staten Island girl all my life. I would never do nails & hair anywhere else. It’s serious. I moved to Miami in July and flew back in October and got my hair did. My hubby had been getting awesome haircuts from D for the time we’ve moved and I hesitated. Finally after shit hit the fan I figured now was my time to convert, and I’m a believer. I showed D a pic and explained I wanted something more funky wanted bangs even with my non existent forehead and balayage. And voila, 3.5 hour later probably the most true to pic haircut ever. I’m definitely loyal to the awesomeness of this place. D-jones rocks.

I’ve been coming here for a couple years. When I arrived yesterday I was not in the handwritten(seems archaic but ok) schedule book even though I received text confirmation. That’s the second time that’s happened to me. The girl in the front desk is «too cool» to be friendly. I was not offered a drink but saw that others were. Miles introduced himself to me even though this was about my 5th haircut from him and we’ve had long in depth conversations before. ok. But the real problem is this: If you try to get on the same page about where the haircut is going(which I was asked specifically… I was actually going to remain silent until the end knowing the best work is done in the finishing touches) Miles is immediately defensive, quick to become frustrated and irritable even though you both actually want the same thing out of the haircut. He thinks you are trying to tell him how to «do his job» when really there should be more of an open, positive, communicative response about how to achieve the shared goal. It’s awkward to have someone cutting your hair who is shows irritation towards you, especially when you never showed it towards him. I knew I would end up liking the haircut anyway as I always do, and would never leave unsatisfied. BUT It’s important to communicate effectively with clients instead of becoming defensive and irritable for no reason. Not going back.

Let me start this review by saying that I have curly hair(for you curlies out there I’m a 3C) and have bounced around from all kinds of salons(from dominican salons to high end places to Supercuts) trying to find someone who knows how to cut curly hair. I’ve literally walked into places and seen my stylist’s face fall when they see my hair and what they have to work with. Once I was even left with a horrific mushroom haircut… but I digress. I saw the reviews for this salon and thought I’d give it a shot. A couple of curly girls wrote some positive things and I thought: ‘one last try before I straighten the birds nest I have for hair.’ I called, made an appointment for a haircut and color but was told that color wasn’t going to be a possibility on the day I was to go in, understandable since I called on a Wednesday and my appointment was Friday. I arrived at the salon and it has a really cool atmosphere, very hipster. My stylist was Jason and without any preamble I have to say that he did a GREAT job. I knew the minute he said he’d cut my hair DRY that he knew what he was doing. He took his time and went curl by curl trimming my hair. Knowledgeable and a sweet guy to boot. I asked him if there was any chance of getting my hair colored and he told me he didn’t do that but called in someone who did(Lily). I explained to Lily what I wanted done and she warned me the color might not take because of some previous color I had but that she’d do it. I have to admit that I am not in love with the color; I wanted to lighten my dark hair and I think only some of it took the color… I’m not sure if it’s because of the previous dye job or what. Regardless of the color not coming out as I had hoped I am excited to go back and I’m pretty sure I’ve found ‘the one.’ I refuse to let anyone else cut my hair. And hopefully the next time I can correct the color thing. Bottom line: I really recommend this place. P. S. Prices: Cut was $ 60 and the color was $ 100

Okay, I will admit it. I have not written a review about this place because Nue Studio is almost too good to share. But I gotta stay loyal to the Unilocal community and feel I must share my thoughts on this gem. Miami is not a city known for customer service, especially in the salon industry. I have been to so many salons over the years where they have been snobby, rude, and uncaring towards their clients. Nue Studio is the complete opposite of your typical Miami salon and the reason I love coming here. From the minute you walk in the vibe is laidback and cool. All of the staff I have dealt with are nice and pleasant from the receptionist, to the hair stylist assistant, to the stylists themselves. I always cut my hair with D and he does a great job but I have seen several other stylists work and they all do a good job so no matter who you get you will be in good hands. Things I love: –Their shampoo chair is the most comfortable one I have ever sat in. Usually they hurt my neck but not this one. It is so comfy I fight off falling asleep when I am in it. –The girls that wash your hair do a great job and take their time. They give great scalp massages too! –Stylists are always on time. I have never waited more than 5 minutes to be seen. –They send a text reminder for your appointment which is very convenient. The only drawback is parking. It is in a busy area of Wynwood that only has metered parking so be sure to give yourself a few extra minutes to park. All in all this is a great salon with friendly and professional staff who know what they’re doing!

Got a haircut with Cyn. She’s amazing at what she does. Extremely knowledgable and easy going. The environment at the salon is so funky(in a great way) not your typical salon.

Just got a great haircut at Nue by Sachi. She nailed the pictures I showed her, and made modifications based on what would work best for my hair type. She’s also very knowledgeable about Asian hair and Japanese straightening. Just wish they included a wash and dry with the price. A dry cut ended up being $ 60 not including the tip, which I think is a bit higher than what they list on their website. But Sachi was so good, I thought it was worth it. Will be back.

Been seeing D here from the very start like 6 years ago. I absolutely love this place and wouldn’t go anywhere else. Do yourself a favor and check it out if you haven’t been already. Coolest crew and spot in Miami. Cut color or style… they’re the bomb!

D is amazing. Went in for a hair cut super last minute and he killed it. He’s a no bullshit guy and I barely had to tell him what I wanted. Highly recommend.

I just got color and haircut by Obi. The bayalage on my dark hair is barely noticeable. The cut horrible. I asked for an inch off and he chopped it all off. I asked for soft layers and he gave me choppy ends. Do not recommend.

**IFYOUHAVENATURALLYCURLYHAIRYOUNEEDTOMAKERODRIGOYOURSTYLIST!!** I went to Nue Studios for the first time about 2 years ago when my naturally curly hair was so damaged from the sun that it wouldn’t curl on its own. My hair was very long at the time and I was very nervous about how much would be cut and the way they would cut it(If you have curly hair you know what it feels like to walk out of a salon with triangle hair). Rodrigo is amazing! He told me getting back my curl would be a process and that my hair would need a lot of cutting but that he wouldn’t cut it all at once(that was a huge relief for me). He spent about an hour curling my very thick, damaged strands with his finger to help bring back the curl. He went over a whole hair routine with me and gave me such great advice about how to manage my hair in this Miami Heat. After about 3 visits to Rodrigo I had my natural curls back and my hair is now in great shape. Being that I have curly hair, I only have to get it cut every 4 – 6 months and the only person I trust to do that is Rodrigo! :-)

I never write Unilocal reviews but this one was too deserving. It’s been two weeks since I had my hair cut and highlighted by Obi. I like it more every day! He said he was more of a colorist(and he is goood) but he gave me one of the best haircuts I’ve ever had! The sweet bonus was that he made me feel comfortable and not so crazy about my very picky requests. Excellent experience all around!

I had the best color touch up with Karolina, she is amazing time after time. I never had such a great experience with anyone that does my hair, but time after time she’s proved to be the best hair dresser I have ever given my head to! I love how professional she is and always is able to match the color of my highlights to what exactly I want. She has a great personality too, always makes you feel comfortable and does an amazing job! Highly recommend her!

Cynthia is an artist w/her scissors, & when she’s done cutting and styling my hair it’s like magic. Guess that’s why they call her The Hair Fairy. I love that how I look is as important to her as me. If your hair is important to you, then go to Nue Studio and ask for Cynthia. The environment, the service and the final results are always amazzziiinnggg!

I love this place. I used to get my hair did by DJones back in my gallery director yoga teaching days. That’s when Wynwood and midtown were frontier lands and not so much froyo food truck ville. But hey it’s all progress I guess. All the same they are still for real. They are edgy and cut like nobody’s business. It feel like LA in The MIA and that’s cool by me. It’s a great salon with an awesome vibe. Nuff said.
