I think it is now called Once up on Sunset, since they are off of sunset and not directly on sunset anymore. Anyways, Tina does my nails. I had an issue with biting my nails and always had the ugliest hands. Having the acrylic nails stopped the biting but every other salon pretty much saws off half your nail to stick the acrylics on and kills any strength the bail underneath may have had. I went through this cycle over and over, until I came here. Tina actually understood what I wanted. Temporary acrylics without killing my real nail just to break the habit of biting my nails. She is the only person I went to that got it. She used strengthening polish, never uses the electric filing wand(which takes off half of your nail), and uses quality supplies and polishes. I finally got what I wanted. I have been going to her since and won’t let anyone else touch my hands or feet, especially now that I finally have pretty natural nails that are strong and healthy. I figured I would try a facial as well since I had good juju with this salon. I got my facial with Ani. Ani used natural ingredients, took her time, cleaned up all my blemishes and instead of trying to sell me 10 things that were $ 80 each, she told me that I was overdoing it, and that I needed to simplify my skincare regiment, because I was drying out my face and causing my skin to produce even more oil which was only making the problem worse. So I got a facial with a consultation and I have actually SAVED money on facial products since. My face/acne is slowly getting better and I am not spending nearly as much money as I was when I was getting no results. I plan to continue my facials and I’m sure that I will continue to see good improvement. This salon has a nice network of professionals for any nail/skin needs. I would highly recommend this place. You will need an appointment though.

While I have nothing else listed on my profile as I no longer review under this profile, I can at the very least offer photos of this experience. Bottom line is this, you could have a really sweet person working on your hair but if they don’t know what they are doing you are in trouble. I have dyed black hair so knowing that I wanted to lighten up and go to a brown I understood that it would be a process. I did not know, however, that process would involve my hair breaking off in pieces after being over exposed to bleach. They may have folks who know how to do this at Up On Sunset, unfortunately, the stylist I went to(Tammy) did not. I spent $ 200 on my hair only to come back after I couldn’t get used to attempt number one which was little to now change. She basically gave me red highlights. When I expressed how unhappy I was, she tried again only to leave me bleached and brassy with random chunks of highlights. Oh and she refused to touch my roots out of fear I would get hot roots. Um, what? It’s a shame because she is a nice person just doesn’t know what to do with black hair.(I added a photo of what my hair looked like after the first wash). I have since gone to someone who knows how to lift color though she had to cut off four inches just to try to get rid of the broken/bleached hair. $ 200 down the drain.

not a 5 because of parking! I’ve been doing my hair with Livan for about 11 years, and I follow him wherever he goes. He has been at Up On Sunset for approx 7 years now, and I think this salon is adorable. Everyone is friendly and the place is always super clean. Parking can be a nightmare, but I’m there for good hair — not good parking. Its not cheap, but damn … that man can highlight, cut, and dry hair!
