One of the best events in Miami, even though the majority of attendees down look at any art(at least not the art hung up on walls, ha). The food trucks and the festival-like setup on the empty lot make for a great pace to hang out all night. Ill come to Art Fair as often as I can when I’m in town.

Time for my whiny negativeish, old hipster complaining about mainstreaming review of the month… I love Wynwood. certainly the old Wynwood where it was a little edgy, less commercialized and more artistic. Even the free drinks. you remember those days. Even if you weren’t buying art, more often than not you had the opportunity to chat with artists. I also know bills have to be paid and artists are generally the catalyst to new development in a neighborhood and sometimes the Wynwood edginess was too… edgy. Unlike it’s previous incarnation, the fee for the newly renamed Wynwood Life festival didn’t make any comment of going partially to a good cause. The vendors were there from the main entrance: from the car service that seems to take the prime street parking spots in Midtown and the Grove to different clothing vendors to at least two electronic cigarette companies. Also, the credit card processing was broken this afternoon. Let’s not mention the small $ 5 frozen lemonade vendor and $ 7 small crêpe(they tasted alright, I’ll admit.) Granted, there was some ART. I was able to explore the Wynwood Penit /Old RC Cola plant, and there was some live music happening. But when vendor booths are placed such that they’re obscuring the highlight of the 5th Avenue stretch — the murals that face I95 — the event loses credibility as art and transitions toward the flea marketish…

All these previous reviews are from 2011. No $ 10 charge anymore. It’s free. Total party man everything goes here. It’s Jamaican girl and i rolled off my couch after an exhausting Saturday. Dragged ourselves there. So we pull in only to get some food. No parking, no nothing. Eventually we get some. We walk the street, and get to the food truck section. They have now dropped to the lowest of lows with the new VIP club in the middle of nowhere. That’s what we should call it. Nowhere. «I’m on a train to nowhere’!» We walked passed every food truck about 20 in total. Nothing struck as awesome. Upon leaving on the corner of 20th street we found this shafty barbecue grill set up. Beef and chicken kebabs this weird kind of sausage meat which tastes like a Russian sausage. Damn… Lights low, forget that I’m whoever I am kind of girl. Money status you name it. I ripped into those kebabs and it was the best I ever had. Corner of NE20 and NW2nd ave during the Art walk. For now she is there the Spanish lady who served us, but who knows she could be gone next time round. This is the reason you and I both come and experience weird eclectic nights like these because… You never know what you’re going to find.

The Wynwood Arts Fair opened on Friday positioned as a unique outdoor arts festival going beyond traditional arts venues to include participatory art creation and performance arts. The event is new, and as such, needs time to develop but did manage to entertain and engage the visitor while raising money for Lotus House shelter for women. The one(big) negative was the VIP program which turned out to be a disappointment. Yes, the $ 150 per person goes to a good cause, however, most events of this nature that offer VIP programs offer value added. That is some experience that allows the VIP participant to experience the event with an exclusive activity, access to elements before the general admission, some meaningful«freebies» not offered to the public etc. This event offered no such element and as such beyond the donation to the cause was best experienced paying only the $ 10 general admission fee. Hopefully, in a few years, if the event is held again, the management will understand the importance of creating value-added experiences like so many other charitable events do. Let’s be honest. VIP’S expect something beyond the good feeling of giving to a charity whether right or wrong and to ignore that fact will likely reduce the number of VIP entrants in the future.

$ 10 entrance fee for a good cause. Not too many things to eat. The French bakery was probably my favorite. The whole thing wasn’t very big and it was a little boring but I saw a few interesting art pieces.
