We stopped here for breakfast early on a Sunday morning due to Unilocalers suggestions. We were not disappointed! The location was a bit odd but the restaurant was clean, service was impeccable.(Thank you, Candy!) the portions were huge and he food was home style and delicious!

I was not disappointed. The portions were huge, the service was old school/mouthy(in a good way) and awesome, she helped us get the best deal with what we wanted. The food is not fancy, but it’s not prepackaged. I’ll gladly stop by again… after all, what else will you find in Michigan City?

Excellent service and great food. It’s a nice break from the chain breakfast places with obviously fresher ingredients. I’m not saying the cream cheese sauce stuffed French toast is healthy but at least it’s made in house.

Amazing service with great food to follow. Huge menu so there is plenty to choose from. I had the corned beef has skillet but the Mexican skillet is defiantly my favorite. My coffee cup was never empty which to me makes or breaks a meal. It was an all around great time. I highly recommend memos if you are looking for a satisfying breakfast.

Was going to have a birthday party for my daughter here, had it set up(talked to the server, like its says to on their window). 5 days before the party I go there and they tell me they need more money or no party! Weren’t even going to call and let me know! Just lucky to go there that day! Completely unprofessional!

Huge selection for breakfast /brunch. This is a real«local» place. The kind of place where the waitresses acknowledge regulars walking in and old guys have their tables with an invisible placard on it. The portions are massive and the coffee is plentiful. Super reasonable prices with friendly service.

Best restaurant place in Michigan City. They’re nice to me and my family, the food is tasty and plentiful, and the prices are good. Unlike most places in Michigan City, service is competent at Memos. Never have experienced any foul ups from the kitchen either. Try it.

Was in the area today and was looking for brunch in the mid-afternoon. After driving around a bit, I came across this place en route to Michigan City and decided to stop. Was seated right away and noticed they had a nice variety to choose from… their breakfast menu, whereas isn’t extraordinary, did have a few entrees that were unique to this place(like a portabello mushroom omlette… don’t see many of those anywhere). Finally decided on a Gypsy skillet which was served on a bed of hashbrowns. Food was decent(skillet under $ 8) and plentiful and the coffee was hot and fresh(and bottomless cup). Great find and I would go there again.

This was my Mom’s favorite place to go for a meal. Although my mom is gone, I will stop at Memo’s(Pronounced MEE-MOE-s) for a little connection. Why did she like it? VALUE! The food is good, the portions are huge, low prices and I have never had to wait. My brother would get the pork chop and eggs for breakfast; two 1 inch pork chops and 3 eggs show up. Pancakes show up too. this was all for about $ 10. I like the frittata which is big enough for two people, really! I am big guy and I like to eat and this place fits the bill. Also, pancakes arrived with the breakfast. I am full until dinner time. my next favorite thing is the Friday fish fry. For $ 8.95 I get ALLYOUCANEATWALLEYE! Yes, go back and read that again. AYCE walleye for $ 8.95 is ridiculous and it is good too. It comes with fries, smashed potatoes, or rice pilaf. You also get a salad or soup. They also have AYCE perch for $ 10.95. As with most neighborhood diners, they have dessert. If you have room, order it or take it home. I have only had a post dinner dessert once, which I split. I have stopped and had dessert alone though. All the usual suspects fill the glass cabinet and whisper to you. Beware of their power. If you have not been to Memo’s for breakfast or a fish fry, give it a try. Your belly will be full and your wallet will not be empty. That would make my mamma happy.

As for the first review, folks at MEMOS just assume that EVERYONE has a shotgun in their car so no point in mentioning it. 1. Memos is locally owned by real people who really care about their customers. 2. The menu selection is huge for a small place. If its not on the menu they will likely make it for you anyway. 3. The quality of the food and portion size is incredible. 4. The prices are so reasonable, you sit there wondering how they can do it. 5. The place is very clean and pleasantly appointed. Memos deserves five stars!

This is a total random review of a place in the middle of nowhere Indiana. And I wonder when someone, if anyone for that matter, will make use of this review. So why am I writing this? Well, there is an outlet mall about 3 miles or so away that a lot of people go to from Michigan and Illinois(Premium Lighthouse Outlets) and for those who are looking for breakfast options/brunch in the area after shopping may find your options quite limited. While there is nothing special to rave about this place, these are the things I like about Memos. 1) Prices are reasonable — $ 4 for fresh squeezed orange juice, ~$ 8/breakfast plate 2) Generous portion sizes — 1.5X more than what I get at IHOP. 3) Better quality-about ½ notch better compared to franchise breakfast restaurants like IHOP and Denny’s. 4) No shady people– yeah. my past experiences at breakfast places like IHOP and Waffle House weren’t so great.(Ex. Someone striking up a conversation telling me they have a shotgun in their car).
