First, I went to LensCrafters to check their prices and see if I could get my broken glasses fixed. Well, they couldn’t be fixed, so I needed new frames, which probably meant that I needed new lenses too. Plus, it had been three years since my last eye exam. I decided to shop around by driving about a mile down Pearl Rd to Family Optical. There, I met Michelle, who helped me pick out some frames that would look good on me. Then she helped me pick out a cheap frame so I could have a backup set of glasses in case my primary pair broke again. I’ll tell ya, I purchased two frames and two lenses from Family optical for $ 240 compared to one pair for $ 220 at Lenscrafters! I was so happy to save a bunch of money. Family Optical is, oddly enough, a family run business. Michelle works there with her parents, the owners. She was really nice to me and made me feel like a valued customer. After three weeks of owning my new pair of glasses, I went back in for an adjustment and they had them fitting perfectly in minutes. Then they had a PC issue, which I helped them fix on my way out. It’s like I was meant to walk back in there! Great place! Skip LensCrafters and head on over.

I was traveling to the Midwest from the East Coast and while cleaning my sunglasses I pressed on the lens a little too hard and it slightly popped out. Seeing that the sun was shining bright and I had about 400 miles to drive I was fretting being without my sunglasses. So I pulled out my phone, searched Google maps for an optical store and found Family Optical near me. I stopped in right as they had opened explained the situation to a friendly lady that was working and she said no problem she would fix them. She happily took my glasses and about two minutes later returned them, as good as new, with the lens in place and cleaned. And although I would have been happy to pay for the repair, they insisted, that there be no charge! Woohoo! Great staff and nice place. It looks like they have a good selection of glasses, although I didn’t have much time to look. Thanks Family Optical!
