Cheng Square has become my regular spot for Chinese food. The food is consistently good and the service is as well. I like everything I’ve tried on their menu, which is pretty much your standard Chinese menu with all the appetizers, entrees and combination plates you expect. They also feature a nice variety of sushi and rolls as well. The two times I ordered sushi it was good. I’ve eaten there and ordered takeout and have no complaints either way. The dining room isn’t big and can feel a little cramped when they’re busy on the weekends. All in all a good place for what they do.

Good food

Gave this place 3 tries — all for lunch. The first time we had Chinese food. When almost done, I found some kind of wire in my food. The (very inexperienced) waitress’ reply was «OK, I’ll tell them», not even an apology. The food was mediocre — like typical chinese takeout.
The 2^nd and 3^rd time I had sushi — Both times it lacked flavor, the ingredients were not fresh, the wasabi was not even hot. I’ve had better sushi from Price Chopper…
Each time we went the staff was different and the waitresses always seemed overwhelmed.
Won’t be going back.

The food is always good, the sushi can be inconsistent depending on who is making it. It would be a three maybe even a four if they fixed the booths. They are taped rather then replaced and the service is always spotty. It is still my go to place for Chinese in the area because the food is good but please fix the service and the chairs. Also, try the fried ice cream. The ice-​cream is nothing spectacular t but the crust is fantastic.

Sushi was excellent volcano roll special awesome the service was not up to par. Asked for refill and never served.

Last time my family and I went, it was during the winter. We were sat in a part of the restaurant where there were drafts from the door opening. When we requested a different table, we were allowed to move, but it was still cold. Needless to say, we didn’t stay too long, and didn’t order anything. Previous times, I wouldn’t feel great after eating there, even though the food is good. It wouldn’t sit right in my stomach.

Very poor service. I ordered a shrimp dish and the shrimp had not been cleaned at all. You could see poop had fallen on the broccoli, it was vile.

The food is very average, definitely a solid three stars. I’ve never had a problem with it, it just isn’t anything special. The service, however, is really great and friendly. In addition, they have ice cream, which is cool to have in an Asian restaurant. Cheng Square is an all-​around decent restaurant.

Consistently good, sometimes above that. I’ve never had a bad meal from them. Reasonable prices and a friendly staff.

We have been coming here for years. After a visit this weekend, I felt the need to write a review.
We have had fantastic waitresses in the past few years and we have had those who are not so pleasant. Our favorite waitress is no longer there so we are trying to find one to request every time we go. Melissa is a joy to work with as is Susie.
On Friday night Susie was our waitress. We went to the restaurant in sort of a rush and did not want to wait 15 minutes for a table to clear. So we opted to sit at the bar. Susie was efficient, she came right over to take our order. We had to be somewhere in an hour and from the time we sat down to the time we paid our bill was twenty minutes! They were slammed to boot between take out orders, dine in orders, and call aheads.
Great service! The food was delicious like always.

Really good lunch specials (chicken with Garlic sauce was spot on). Excellent service as well. Very nice place.

This is located in the Middlebury Edge medical arts plaza next to Vinnie’s Pizza and Legends of Superheros comic book store. Came here to dine in on a Sunday afternoon. Very empty. Was served by a nursing student in hot yoga pants.
Sunday sushi special is 1 free regular roll with the order of 2 regular rolls. The rolls were on the small side but otherwise pretty good — I got a salmon skin roll, boston roll, and yellowtail veg roll with scallions (other veg choice was cucumber). The yellowtail roll didn’t have very many scallions…
For entrees we ordered a Four Seasons and a Vegetable Chow Fun. So they have the Chow Fun with the thick rice noodles, which was nice. Also requested no added sodium and they obliged but this meant that nothing had sauce, except the salmon skin roll.

Went there for take out. Got the beef and broccoli chicken fried rice egg rolls pot stickers and ribs. All were very good, in fact I would say excellent, would order there again… or even eat in very nice atmosphere and friendly staff.

Upon arriving to Cheng Square amidst the frigid New England weather I was greeted with a lovely hello and a warm cup of tea. At this point in time I was having quite the dandy time and rather excited for future courses to arrive. I ordered the hot and spicy soup that came quite quickly and oh golly gee was that tasty. I then ordered the tangerine chicken for my days end meal. Again this came rather quickly and looked very delicious upon arrival. Oh how looks can be deceiving. Ok food if that. Not impressed. If you want some hot tea and soup, this is your place.

As far as local Chinese food that also serves sushi — this is the place in town. The sesame beef is awesome and the sushi is great. Drink (wine/​beer) specials daily– kid friendly– and priced just like a local take out dive — but with far better quality. We are just happy we can dine in or just as easily swing down the road to pick up. Highly recommended !

Why does a sushi place have ice cream? The food combinations on the menu are also atypical. Didn’t have a yellowtail roll with scallions which was odd as they should go together.

I consider myself a Chinese food snob
since growing up near San Fran, CA. I am always in search of a good Chinese restaurant near Watertown CT and found it! I always get the ribs which are amazing and actually everything on menu comes out piping hot and delicious! Better yet is the happy hour 7 days a week! 2−5pm; ½ price wine and $ 1 off beer… an I think thy have sushi specials as well. our waitress (sorry, don’t know her name) is always attentive.

Lunch special of two regular rolls and miso soup or a green salad for $ 7 is a great deal! Have been coming here since they opened and never disappointed.

They opened a month ago (Aprox June 2010) and it’s nicely decorated inside. They even use re-​usable black chop sticks which is kinda upscale for most sushi/​chinese places in this area. They provide you complimentary green tea which is think all asian places should. The waitress was nice and very attentive.
I went there with a co-​worker for lunch. We ordered scallion pancakes that comes with some form of hoisin sauce and iceberg lettuce. You can get chinese food but we opted for the Japanese fare. We ordered, a spicy tuna /​tempura roll, lobster roll and double seafood roll. Everything was good. I especially like the double seafood roll because it had a unique flavor and look which is hard to find since every sushi combination has usually been done on evey sushi menu. It had cooked fish or crab in the middle and imitation crab drapped in long slices over each piece, and a brown-​eel-​type sauce drizzled over it.
I hope it does well because it’s a comfortable place with plenty of meal options and is near my work.
They were smart to have a menu that features, chinese, sushi and extended ice cream choices.
