Tommy’s Restaurant & Pizza

Can’t ever go wrong with Tommy’s! I just went in there for lunch recently and had their grilled cheese burger… simply scrumtrulescent, I mean really, what a delight. It is exactly how it sounds, a burger between two grilled cheese sandwiches, it’s simply heaven and should be on Diners, Drive-​ins, and Dives. The service is great, quick, the food is consistent and delicious. From pizzas, grinders, and dinners are all great. There isn’t much to say other than I approve.

Great food and great service! Expansive menu and very affordable. They also have a good bar and beer selection.

I like to get the pepperoni pizza for my teenage girls. The staff is great. I like the pizza restaurant as it is. Basic and simple. The meatball grinder is great. I also like the fries. It is an icon.

My mom & I heard great things about Tommy’s last year after living in Middletown for almost 10 years! The food is great, customer service is awesome and it’s a great place to grab a bite to eat without having to get «dressed». I love the crispy but not crunchy bite of the pizza crust and salads are pretty big in size (enough for 2 to share). Let me say that I am obsessed with the Philly Cheesesteak pizza!!! It’s real steak with green peppers, onions, and gooey melted cheese on an awesome white sauce! I order this about 99% of the time that I’m getting food from Tommy’s. Def a must try. The staff are friendly and personable. Not overbearing as you’re trying to eat. Once my order was misunderstood and they were so cool about quickly fixing it then bringing my pizza out to my car to me so I wouldn’t have to take my son out again. All in all, this is a nice spot if cooking dinner isn’t high on your list for the night!

After going through a lull, Tommy’s is back! Extensive menu and the prices can’t be beat. The food is even better than before. I highly recommend this place.

The service was very good and the food was pretty good! I’ve had several appetizers which are fabulous. The regular pizza is ok but I feel the specialty is very very good. Drinks are always portioned well — not weak but not too strong– just right! Oh! A great idea is to get their chef salad when throwing a function and just adding more lettuce– totally feeds 10 – 12 comfortably and is delicious!

I’ve never been to this restaurant before, but went there with friends. Was a bit leery when I saw the exterior of the building– it looked a bit run down and ho hum. But I wad pleasantly surprised by the food. The pizza was quite good– the cheese was not greasy at all, and the fillings were tasty and fresh. The burgers were a bit too well done and dry, and the fries were mediocre at best. But overall, not a bad place to grab a bite.

Tried the pizza… it was really bad. Bland, greasy, doughy, no good. I Have had better frozen pizza. Can’t speak to the rest of the menu as I havent tried anything else. Place is usually packed in the evenings and weekends… not sure why.

I really want to like this place as the servers and the guy who handles the front desk are awesome.
Unfortunately, I just don’t like the food. The pizza is so bland and the sandwiches miss the mark. I’ve had the philly cheese steak and it just doesn’t measure up. It should be sliced beef not thin slabs of overcooked beef. I did really like the chicken parm I ordered once. Other than that, it just isn’t very good food.

Just moved to Middletown, was looking for a good pizza place and gave this a try. It wasn’t awful but I wouldn’t really get it again. I ordered an XL ½ cheese & ½ peperoni. The size was that of a large and was on the greasy side but not to a disgusting point. The sauce was flavorful (which seems to be rare nowadays) and the crust was very good, the best part.

This place is a dump. The waitress doesn’t wash her hands after coming in from the outside. There was A PIECE OF HAM IN MY ICED TEA. Filthy place. The rolls were stale and hard, never go there. All the employees are scrubby, and dirty.

If you love food drenched in cheese, then this is the place for you. If you have any kind of dietary restriction, forget it! I was told I couldn’t eat the sandwich I had in my purse. I brought it because I didn’t see anything on the menu I could eat other than fries. My friend is a frequent customer and asked me to lunch with her. I bought the fries and a soda and she bought a meal. Halfway through the sandwich I was told to put it away because «no restaurants allow people to have their own food». Not true! This is the only restaurant where I’ve had this issue. I waitressed for years and never heard of that «rule». The owner came out and was incredibly rude. Their stance was, «we’re here to make money». Good luck with that !

I am not sure what the four star reviews are for but this place was mediocre at best. I have eaten at many italian resturants and this left a lot to be desired. The reuben was terrible. meat was dry and no sauce. Pizza (the name on the restaurant) was average and bland. Nicely cooked but not much taste. The service was ok… except the waitress got the order wrong on my brothers entrée. Too many good restaurants in connecticut to suffer through an average meal at this place.

When I’m in the mood for awesome homemade Italian food, Tommy’s is the absolute best place around. It’s not a fancy five star restaurant for sure, but it IS a friendly, neighborhood place where you can get delicious grub for super cheap.
First of all, the portions! They’re positively gigantic. You get what you pay for and then some, so be prepared for leftovers. Not only that, but the food is great. The menu is huge, and everything I’ve ordered from pasta to grinders to pizza, etc. has been fantastic. Also: forget about thin crust — this pizza is thick and the perfect combination of crunchy and doughy. It’s some of the best I’ve ever had.
The service is also quite good. The waitstaff is friendly and on the ball, the bartenders make some damn strong drinks, and the manager (Frank) is one of the nicest guys you’ll meet. My family reserved the bar area/​deck for a private party a while back and he was a pleasure to deal with. Everything turned out perfectly down to the last detail.
Just writing this review makes me want to order a chicken cordon bleu pizza for takeout, STAT!

We like to order take out from Tommy’s often, and always enjoy anything we get. They give large portions and everything tastes homemade. My kids love their pizza and even the kids meals are large. They have a large menu and there is always plenty to choose from depending on what you are in the mood for.

Fine little restuarante with a variety of items to order. The staff is polite and responsive. In general it is my fiancée’s who begs me to bring her here. Her favorite dish is the Tommy’s special pizza. It has a flavorful blend of meats with veggies and for the price, it’s pretty good. We come here about once a month and each time we leave satisfied.

Love the BLT’s and fries. Have had their huge salads, great pizza and hung out in the bar. Staff is very friendly and prices in the bar are fabulous. The deck is great in the summer.

I’ve gotten take out pizza here a few times when I lived in Middletown. To me, this whole restaurant is having an identity crisis. Half of it resembles a diner and the other half is a bar with deck. That’s not where it ends, the menu is bizarre too. It’s got italian food, greek specialties and typical diner findings. Then there’s the pizza. It’s thick, but definitely not deep dish. It’s got a nice airy, thick dough with a tangy sauce and a thick layer of cheesy goodness. I’ll either get the cheese or the veggie pie which is loaded with veggies.
What can I say, it’s similar to Enzo’s when Enzo’s was good… and every once in awhile I crave this pizza.
