Tropical Smoothie Cafe

The wait here was excruciatingly long. The service was non existent. They do have a special Monday-​Friday of $ 3 smoothies. Their smoothies are wonderful but nothing is really made in house. I had the green smoothie and my husband had the avocadolada. He liked mine so much he tried to trade. So when ordering sandwiches or wraps the breads are made off site. The smoothies are good and with the protein mix ins the value is good. Just call your order in advance if you are in a rush. We waited 30 minutes for ours and there was only 1 person there waiting who had already ordered.

I will start by saying that I used to love this place! However that all changed today when some coworkers and I decided to get takeout from this location. We ordered our food and I went to pick it up. When I arrived I noticed that the café appeared dingy and the huge fish tank that used to be up front was empty and had some graffiti on it. There was about 4 customers there at this time and 4 employees. The employees seemed to be more interested in socializing with each other rather than doing their jobs. They were talking loudly about their personal lives and standing around leaving the one girl at the register who seemed very sweet a little over whelmed. I wanted to pay separately for our orders and was told I couldn’t do that. The employee said she would go and get her manager to see if she could explain to her how to do it. Well the manager never came out and when the girl came back she said something about voiding and re ringing the food. I had already been waiting for about 20 mins so I just said that was fine. I finally received my food after 35 mins of waiting. The staff seemed very inefficient and definitely not knowledgable. When we opened our sandwiches, we were less than thrilled, they were topped with what looked to be old wilted lettuce and were basically flat as pancakes, the contents of the sandwiches were so sparse that my one coworker could barely even see any chicken salad on hers. (I am posting a pic of the sandwich so everyone can see how bad it was) I called the store and talked to the manager, I didn’t want free food from them bc honestly I’m never going back. However she offered for us to come back and receive a meal on the house, I replied that I just wanted the staff to be properly trained and know that they messed up. I have 13 years experience in the food service industry and never write horrible reviews bc I know all too well that a business can have an off day, but this was just too horrible and unprofessional to not share so others don’t waste their hard earned money at this establishment. The manager replied that in the staffs defense most of them were new… well if that was the case why were they left unattended to just try and run things by themselves without the supervision of a senior staff member and second of all anyone with a shred of common sense could’ve looked at that sandwich and seen that it was not remotely even close to being something you should serve to a paying customer. I previously loved tropical smoothie and am so disappointed that I wasted $ 11 on food that I couldn’t eat. I doubt that even if we took the manager up on her offer which none of us are, that the food would be any better bc the employees seem to just not care at all. Maybe the owners will see this and do something about it since when I called corporate I was told I had to fill out some online form to be called back.

What’s the point of having a call ahead number if you never answer the phone to take a call ahead order? I tried calling your store several times and the phone rang and then went to voicemail each time.

Okay if you trying to promote good health you should have atleast one healthy ORGANIC drink or sandwich on your MENU. I was reading peoples Unilocal,I will agree with the long wait and very confuse staff. The Long waits are for those Sugar and lots of Ice GMO Drinks. Nothing is healthy about them, they add ½ cup of pure white Sugar to one drink a non organic already frozen fruit. And what is that powder they call vitamins? eek!!, Dont like there drinks at all. The Company promtes Nothing About A Real Healthy Drink. Warning don’t give this drink to kids. The Spinach is GMO… How I know I asked, they told me nothing was Non-​GMO … That was my last visit to the Great Fake Tropical Gmo Smoothie Land… If you value your health don’t go there… ***NOT GOOD FOR DIABETICS ***

While they usually are fast, a lot of their concoctions have a half cup of turbinado (sugar). When you get it w/​o a sweetener, it really becomes apparent how much ice is used since it then tastes like watered down fruit.
They do offer a Military discount which is cool though.

My morning breakfast stop. Can’t beat $ 3.16 (incl. tax) smoothies! Especially now that they have veggie smoothies too.

Most disgusting bathrooms, broken towel dispenser, and trash all over floor behind counter!

Still hit or miss when it comes to efficiency, but they have a great weekend crew that can hustle pretty well through a crazy lunch rush.
They also now have the option to substitute Beyond Meat (vegan mock chicken strips) on any chicken sandwich or wrap for no extra charge. It’s nuked in the microwave so it’s not amazing, but it’s a nice change of pace from the limited vegan and vegetarian quick lunch options in the area.

Both the smoothies and sandwiches are good. It’s especially great for a summer day. I don’t remember having any issues with this location and I’ve been there quite a few times.

The smoothie was ok, nothing special.
It took a really long time for them to make a smoothie. There were two people in front of me, but I stood there for 15 minutes before I got my drink. The cashier wasn’t exactly friendly, either.

Great smoothies and you can add supplements to them (ie, Vitaminc C, Energizer, etc). The wrap I had was good. Good lunch specials to where you can ge a combo like smoothie and ½ sandwhich. I’ll definitly be back for more!

Good smoothie selection and the deli items are pretty good too!
