Famous Daves provided/catered the food to an event I was at, I actually had flown in from out of town for the event. My husband, son in law and I all got food poisoning from the chicken. We were able to figure out it was the chicken as my daughter and son did not have chicken and the three of us that got food poisoning had the chicken. The chicken had a different taste to it. The host of the event wouldn’t tell us which Famous Dave’s in Salt Lake County the food was ordered from. The Midvale location was closest to the party. Honestly was not impressed with the food and put a real damper on our vacation to have food poisoning.

It’s a chain, and the waiters are often clueless. But I still think this place rocks out really good barbecue. And sides.

Got seated quickly. Only one other group in the whole restaurant. Then watched the waitress circle us for 15 minutes. No acknowledgment. Nothing. We decided to leave finally after nobody seemed to care we were sitting there. As we were leaving we walked right by two waitresses that looked at us then looked away. Was this there way of saying they don’t want to serve us? We have been eating at Famous Daves for years. We have agreed to never again! Embarrassing!

We pick up their food all the time. We will not give them another chance. Ordered crispy chicken salads tonight. Nearly all of it was iceberg lettuce and 3 small cubes of crispy chicken. No dressing. $ 9.00 salad. Very disappointing.

This place is supposed to be a nice sit down bbq place. Like I said, it is supposed to be. It is not. The food was below par and the service was really bad. It may have been because we came later at night but that is no excuse to treat your patrons like they don’t matter. It was very expensive and no one in our party of 10 enjoyed what they had. I wouldn’t come back to this place, I’d rather just go a block down to dickies and hopefully be poisoned.

Eating here for the first time because hey I’m not from Utah but this Famous Daves is designed different from the ones in Va. Looks a little more«western»?? I decided to read some of the reviews and felt the need to «bump the scale». I’m not saying that others may not have had valid gripes however my experience was nothing like the negative ones I saw posted. I usually get the brisket and it’s always been consistent. Good not great but it’s also under $ 15 for a good portion with two sides. My server was Heidi and she was friendly and at 6pm on a Tuesday I received my food in under 5 minutes. I asked how the macaroni was and she said it was good but if not I could get something else. So I didn’t love it and she took it back and replaced it with chili. Not a cup but a bowl. It was way too much food and I left quite a bit. I’m not a leftover person but I’m not a huge eater either. It was enough food to fill most large appetites. Have I had better brisket? Yes but I’m not judging a contest here. Go get some if you’re in the area.

I expected a busy restaurant heading here on New Year’s Eve, so I was surprised when we walked in and only half the places was filled. We ordered our food and after an hour we called our losses and left empty handed. Guess it’s dinner out of a paper bag since I wasted my night waiting for food that never showed up.

This is my go-to place for BBQ. I love their hot link sausages. They also have burnt ends, which is a rarity in Utah. Skip the potato salad — bland. But the Cole slaw is excellent, and good slaw is hard to find. Also, considering that they pride themselves on their«fruit lemonades», I think they should invest in some lemons and frozen berries and make a real fruit lemonade instead of crappy reconstituted lemonade with a squeeze of crappy bottled syrup. Jus’ sayin…

Called the day before labor day because I expected them to be busy. I confirmed that the best time to place my large order for a 4pm pickup was between noon and 2 pm the same day. Called at 1 pm and placed the order. Arrived at 4 pm and it was like a ghost town. Back in the day they used to have curbside service, which they still show they have signs for, but no one came. I went inside, and either because of the lack of staff or mis-management, there were unbussed tables, and no one to be found at the bar, the host station, or the pickup counter. I asked for my order, and it turns out they never placed it when I called. They quickly put it together, and the food was decent, but the service left much to be expected.

The food is alright, but what I’m giving two stars for is the service. We just went there for dinner. We went in a little before 6 and there was hardly anyone in the restaurant which was great(I was thinking food would be quick etc). That was definitely not the result. We knew what we wanted in less than 5 mins and waited about 20 mins for our server Chris(he’s older) to come take our order. Once he did, I’m not even kidding when I say it took 40 mins to get our food which I don’t understand because first of all the restaurant was not busy at all and its bbq… If The food is smoked all night then why would it take that long to get to us? We order the fest for two. We got burnt ends, and half pork and half brisket and we didn’t see any pork or brisket on the platter. It was tasty but I don’t even know if we got what we paid for. I even asked a server walking past if she could get our server so he could explain what’s on our platter, and she said he would but he never came. Chris didn’t come once to check up on us or to see if we needed anything. To me, that is super important in a server. He didn’t take our salad plates or empty cups so those were in our way the whole time. And when it was time to go, we had to ask someone else for to go boxes because we didn’t see him forever. I was really disappointed by this experience, especially since we have really liked this place in the past. I will definitely think twice before coming here again.

The pork was room temperate. It’s ok, at best. It’s definitely not worth the price. I could see if it was fast food bbq, but $ 18 for a plate of blah is not what I was expecting. I didn’t complain, it was edible so they’re not getting 1 star.

I’ve always been a fan of Famous Daves in Washington State and visited this location for the first time with my husband this weekend. We had a coupon for buy one get one free sandwiches, and both our food and service was excellent. The other out-of-state locations I’ve been to seem to be much busier and nicer than this one, but we weren’t disappointed with either our sandwiches or the service.

This place is the epitome of «okay.» The barbecue is okay. The service is okay. The sides are okay. The prices are a little south of «okay,» though, and considering the whole package, I don’t think we’ll go back any time soon.

It’s the only BBQ place that gives you enough food at an affordable price. It’s our go to place whenever we crave BBQ with a decent amount of food.

I was in the mood for some good BBQ, and Famous Dave’s never lets me down! The food is always just yummy. I ordered the brisket topped it with some coleslaw and rich and sassy and I was ready to go. We ordered the rib tips which were«off the chain!» service was mediocre at best and felt rushed. But, we go for the food and not for the service… so minus one star for the sticky menus and semi clean establishment– they still get a 4!

Famous Dave’s has great brisket and barbecue sauce. I was disappointed by a few things. I’ve recently become lactose intolerant and barbecue is usually a pretty safe option for me. But I was surprised how few options there are there. Only one of their barbecue sauces doesn’t have milk, which is kind of dumb, cause you don’t usually think of bbq sauce as needing milk. I also have noticed at the store that their sauces have high-fructose corn syrup. All in all I got a decent meal. It would have been nice to have more options on the menu.

We celebrated a friend’s birthday here. We made reservation and came in a big group of about 20 people. They provided us joined tables at one section of the restaurant separated from other patrons, which i think is nice. We started off with Barbeque Nachos(Texas Beef Brisket and Pulled Chicken) appetizer. They were pretty tasty. For main course, i had Texas Beef Brisket. The beef was tender, and i really could taste the smoky flavor. But after awhile, i thought they were a little dry so had them with Wilbur’s Revenge BBQ sauce(which i have to warn you, is very very hot! You have been warned). My sides were Famous Fries(which i think just ok, nothing special) and Pineapple Steak(which was just grilled pineapple really, nothing special too). Oh this meal also included the Corn bread, which i like a lot! Warm and slIghtly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. My partner ordered Country Roasted Chicken but later they said they were out of chicken. It was only 730pm in the evening(which made me think, do their chicken the more popular dish?) Anyway, he changed to Sweetwater Catfish. Turned out, it was something like breaded fried fish sticks. It was pretty good, though nothing unique about it. For sides, he had Potato Salad(very creamy) and Creamy Coleslaw(also very creamy, and i thought it was a little sweet). I like them both. The service was ok. The waitress wasn’t very attentive to fill up our waters but then, we were in a large group. They did not even charge us 18% gratuity by default, so i made sure i tipped the waitress well. In overall, i like this place. The beef brisket really was something. I would come again, and maybe try their ribs or sandwiches next.

My son favorite BBQ place. Well… partly because the server is playing with him by making a pig face using the sauce, somehow it amuses him. I like to order the«All American BBQ Feast» because it covers quite a bit of the menu for our family to sample, especially the BBQ ribs, the most delicious dish of all the dishes. Their«Devil» sauce is really spicy but good for mixing with the original sauce to make it perfect… My wife and my son are also loving the BBQ chicken. Their beans are our favorite side dish, as it is sweet and tangy… love it… I found that the price is rather steep for ordering each order, but if we’re sharing the«feast» with a couple of folks(as the portion is large) then it is more reasonable. During weekend dinner, pls make sure you came early or make reservation as there are always a lot of people coming. Their service is always good, so this is one of our favorite BBQ place.
