I am updating my previous review since switching to a home health physical therapist has changed how I feel about my mother-in-law’s progress and care over the last three years at Valir. Valir was the first place that worked with my mother-in-law when she came home after her stroke. They got her up on her feet and stuck by us through financial and insurance issues and the staff always brightened her week. The tailored strengthening exercises from her therapist and inexpensive equipment they had available to buy allowed us to continue her PT at home, which was all helpful when we were able to work with her. The downside was the lack of communication regarding their ultimate goals and her overall progress. Keeping up with her therapy at home was not an easy task while working and taking care of other family members and our suggestions and research to ramp up her therapy were not met with enthusiasm. I only wish that when her progress plateaued and it was clear the set up on both sides would not take her to the next level, that we could have been referred to a situation and/or therapist that could. While I still believe everyone there is incredibly supportive and great at helping rehab people with various injuries, I do not think this is the right place for those recovering from strokes.
