Holy cow this place is awesome. Been wanting to try for a long time and finally got there. Scones are the best I’ve ever had and they are as big as your head! Easily can split between two people. Pecan bars are like pecan pie on steroids. They have this crust that is out of this world. Also tried a mini Boston cream cake that was also delicious but could have used a little more cream. If you’ve never been here you need to put on your list of places to try before you die! I’ll be back for sure!

We are long time customers and we have always enjoyed your food, but lately the pastries have had a really horrible metalic aftertaste… especially the monkey bread and bread pudding. My husband is a chef and the first one to notice the taste… it is really off-putting. Perhaps it’s time to either change your pans or line them with something?

The Scratch Bakery is a delicious stop for your sweet tooth. Is dessert on the menu? Are you bringing dessert? The Scratch Bakers will have your order waiting for you when you arrive. Every time I stop in to pick up a raspberry bar(a local favorite) I leave with several other items to share with my family and friends. Just a delight. Staff is always friendly and helpful.

I love Scratch Baking in Milford. It is definitely a great addition to the little town and I would say has the best baked goods in the area. On the weekends, their breakfast pizza is my go to. They have a ton of different flavors and toppings to fit everyone’s taste buds and also the crust is thick and crunchy(you would think it was actually from a pizza place)! During the week, I think my favorite item to get are the scones. The chocolate chip and cinnamon scones are to die for. They are massive though, so if you are planning on getting a few(for a party or for coworkers) get about half the amount of what you thought you needed. The reason I am not giving Scratch 5 stars is only because they run out of food very early(on weekends and weekdays) yet they remain open. I would love if they could make a second batch potentially later in the morning of some of their sweets and treats, especially if they are going to be open.

Wonderful place! Go early for the breakfast pizza which I believe is only Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Wonderful combinations of things such as home fries, egg, and veggies on a crisp crust. They offer many combinations and seem to always come up with something different. Other baked goods are out of this world. I highly recommend them!

Love Scratch! It’s the place I run to when my staff has had a long day and deserve a treat! We usually cut up and share the items so everyone can get a taste of all the goods! My little girl searches for them at the farmers market and loves their fruit granolaish bars.(I forget exactly what they’re called but yum!) We also can’t leave without a loaf of bread! This place is definitely a true hidden gem in Milford!

Pros: Got a muffin, a quiche and a brownie. All were pretty good, perhaps not great. The mom & pop shop breakfast options are a tad limited locally, so this is a nice place if you want something to go. Location is very convenient and theres always parking if you’re willing to deal with the Major Con at the bottom. Cons: Theres definitely a slightly cliquey feel, I wouldn’t say I was unwelcome, but certainly wouldn’t say particularly welcome either. Major Con: The meter maid guy in a black truck in the parking lot. If you don’t promptly make a beeline for the door of a business he decides you need yelled at. If I have to deal with that guy again I’ll stop shopping in this complex.

Scratch is a cute place with tons of savory and sweet baked goods. I love the Ciabatta bread and the quiche. I’ve had a few cookies that were really yummy too. Everything is made fresh and can run out if you don’t order ahead or go early. The breakfast pizza is a must try. The pico de gallo pizza was great. The eggplant pizza was tasty, but it was too salty for me after a couple bites. The crust is a little more burned than I like too. Either way, it is different and something I recommend trying. I like supporting local businesses, and this is a great one in downtown Milford. The location is convenient, with parking, and it’s close to the train station.

The most delicious treats I have ever tasted came from Scratch Baking! Ever since I heard about the breakfast pizza I have been dying to try it. Finally I got the chance and it was all I hoped it would be and more! Each bite was simply amazing. Be sure to not miss out on this! The Cinnamon Smear Scones were the perfect balance of buttery and flaky. Cinnamon flavors coming through with each bite. I also loved and recommend the Multigrain bread, Bread Pudding Muffins, Monkey Bread, 7-Layer Bars, Salted Caramel Brownies, Flourless Chocolate Cake and any of the cookies, just for starters.

Meh. Dry food. Pretentious attitude for no reason and acting so affected when you order simple muffins(or a bottle of water.) I’ll take my money elsewhere.

Best Breakfast Pizza and amazing coffee. This was our first real stop after a 15 hour drive to the East Coast and we timed it to arrive at breakfast. Whole wheat croissant with Gouda center was extra special. Friendly staff. You will enjoy whatever you order here.

After seeing scratch bakery set up at the farmers market, we decided to stop in for a visit. The blueberry corn muffin was delicious however the cinnamon roll was slightly over baked and hard. We really enjoyed the savory mushroom leak quiche. The crust was flaky and delicate .The sweet potato Mozzarella breakfast pizza was so dry and hard we couldn’t cut the crust. living locally we will certainly give scratch bakery another try.

Absolutely LOVE the colorado bars(drooling just thinking about them) and the raspberry bars. They also make a mean cinnamon roll. They have interesting breakfast pizzas that my husband absolutely loves, they doesn’t always suit my fancy but they can be tasty. Great place for a quick early morning treat, or any time of day really!

I was first introduced to these guys when I placed a custom cake order for my sister’s 30th. The cake looked fabulous but the best part was it wasn’t just pretty on the outside it was delectable on the inside too! We received so many compliments at the event. And now I’m hooked anytime I’m in the general vicinity I’ll swing in just to grab some treats. Their vegan, cherry granola bar of goodness is a great place to start.

First time-just popped in and discovered the breakfast pizza… great idea, but definitely had been sitting there a while, and they wouldn’t reheat it(or heat anything for that matter)…flies were all over the food. Girl was very friendly but dropped rolls by accident another kid picked them up & put them back in the basket… we only hope they didn’t put them back out to sell… Got there around 10 am on Saturday and lots of choices were already gone… good brioche and good iced coffee… little pricey… not sure I’d go back when there are better places in the area.

Scratch has it all! From the breakfast pizza, to the crowd pleasing ciabatta and awesome vegan berry bars! We purchased a sampler of cheesecakes, pies and cookies from Scratch for Mother’s day and everyone we shared with LOVED not only the taste, but the sizes… perfect for cutting and sharing so everyone got a taste of all the goodness :-)

I need bakeries that know bread because, as much as I’d like to bake bread myself, that takes skill and time. After getting tired of the regular market finds, Scratch popped up on Unilocal as my likely savior for dinner. So glad that there’s parking available right where they’re located. I went in the late morning so it was pretty empty, just one customer finishing up her purchase while I looked over everything on display. I asked a few questions, which the guy at the counter answered brusquely — maybe he was just having a bad day, but being friendly and giving me a single smile would’ve done wonders dude. Since *cough* someone made off with the cash that had been in my wallet, I purchased enough to meet their $ 10 min for credit and walked out with the salted caramel brownie, apple gallette, and gigantic loaf of ciabatta(which I was assured would freeze well). That ciabatta is pretty spectacular — and a serious bargain given the size! Perfect as is, but also delicious lightly toasted. The brownie was dense, fudgy, and the salted caramel added a little sweet to balance the bitter deep chocolate flavor. Not particularly salty, but that’s cool. The apple gallette was alright, I would’ve preferred a thinner pastry dough but it is really tasty. I’ll be back to try more treats, especially the breads!

So where do I begin? While I don’t live in the area I find myself longing for Scratch goodies on a daily basis. I have a friend that travels with Scratch pastries and breads in tow when we see each other. It’s always a fun surprise to see what goodies have been cooking that week. I only wish there were Scratch Baking in Chicago. I’d be there. Daily! I’ve been lucky enough to try a variety of their delicious brownies(the salted caramel is a fav) and the triple chocolate brownie … my oh my! The chocolate croissant melted me to my knees, the galette was incredible and full of flavorful sass. And the breakfast pizza!!! Ahhh the pizza! I just had a roasted tomato and pepper version this past weekend which was delectable. I finally was able to break into the loaf of the week — a pecan and cranberry rye I believe. I’ve been eating it with some strong cheeses and fig spread and find it the perfect treat. I can’t forget the almond butter dog biscuits which have created little mini«Scratch Biscuit Monsters» among my canine crew. They are in love too! I’ll be coming for ya when I’m in CT Scratch! Look out. In the meantime I’ll continue to get my hand delivered fix across the miles!

In terms of CT bakeries this place is pretty hard to beat. Everything here is exceptional, from the pillowy breads and buttery croissants to the decadent crème brûlée, puddings, muffins, and scones. I am personally a huge fan of the oatmeal scone with maple glaze, but I also adore the corn muffins, chocolate pudding, vegan bars, and the craaaazy popular monkey bread. Also make sure to try the bread pudding muffins, they are browned and crispy on the outside and soft and custardy on the inside. An amazing treat. The cookies and cupcakes also have a cult following here. The cupcakes are, in my opinion, the better of the two. Lesli, the owner, and all the staff here are absurdly nice. Oh yeah, the pecan bars and breakfast pizza here are amazing and the pies here are also dope if you can get them. All in all, this is one of the best bakeries on the east coast. Yum.
