Dated/awkward menu concepts that are poorly executed. Ok service. Large, spacious venue. Owner/chef was cooking. Bread took 20 min. She said it was in the oven. The bread was served with a single dish of butter freshly whipped into a rosette. Problem is it was only enough for about one person. We asked three times for more butter. Salads took another 20 minutes. Cesar salad was fresh. Came with a parmesan frico instead of croutons. We ordered JUST salads because the rest of the appetizers looked gross. For example the Maple Glazed Scallops are seared with maple/soy glaze, creamed corn. Maple and soy glaze? Scallops are sweet enough when fresh. I can see the creamed corn. But, when you add the maple and soy glaze it would probably drown out the subtle sweetness of the scallops like a General Tso’s. Entrees were 30 minutes after that. Again, I am not sure if there was an issue in the kitchen. But the waitress could have come up and let us know. Instead we sat and drank wine and talked. For our entrees — Two of us ordered the lamb chops medium rare. The lamb chops were cooked to a black and blue. The spinach was sauteed nicely. The fingerling potatoes looked as if they were boiled and then sort of rolled around in a hot pan to get some burn marks. Completely unappetizing. The potatoes were al dente and flavorless. The lamb was served with a minted reduction. It was a little minty but mostly useless, thin sauce. Basically the whole dish needs to be taken out of the 80s. My biggest issue was that we told the waitress the lamb was raw and tough and she said she would fix it. She then took the lamb back and the chef must have thrown it in a pan for a couple of minutes. So, upon return the lamb was now medium, rubbery and blank. Useless. The braised lamb shank was grey brown. It tasted very simply seasoned and fresh. It was a lot of lamb. The lamb shank was served in a lamb stew cooked with onions, potatoes, apricots and dates in a savory sauce, served over mashed potatoes. It was just too much of the same texture and ugly. But, it was a hefty portion. If volume is your thing this would be a good option. My friend got the Carolina burger. On paper it looked interesting — «ground sirloin with pork belly burger, topped with sliced cuban pork, cole slaw». He ordered it medium rare. It was medium well. The sliced cuban pork was dry. The burger was dry. The coleslaw was tasteless. The steak fries were good. I picked up the check as it was my friend’s birthday. The check was $ 200 for 4 people. We each had a glass of wine. I would have been more upset but I put on a happy face for my friend’s sake. The fresh bread and generous pour of Malbec helped me walk away not starved.

My husband and I stopped in to the bar for drinks and appetizers. The owner was bartending and he was so friendly and welcoming. He recommended a different gin for my husbands martini, which he loved! The crab cakes were excellent as well. We will be back. I wish the bar was bigger with more seating.

My husband and I went in on a Saturday night a couple months ago. It was our first time, and we took the motorcycle. When we pulled into the lot, there were about seven cars in the lot, most of them luxury. We went in and were seated at a tiny bar table. There was one party in the dining room that left shortly after we arrived and six people at the bar – they appeared to be together. It took 18 minutes for someone to come talk to us. We were actually getting up to leave when the bartender approached. We ordered a single wine flight to share, but only because there were two wines we wanted to try. We had to find someone for our bill, as our glasses sat empty for quite some time. This is the only time I have ever left without tipping. This place was awful, and with one set of diners, I can’t for the life of me figure out why it was so hard to get served.

I have lived in Milford all my life and driven by truffles about 200 times. I have never step indoors but I’m glad I finally did. I joined a bunch of out of town coworkers here for dinner one night. Little on the pricey side however the lamb chops were seared to perfection. They were juicy on the inside with just the right amount of seasoning. I typically order meals at restaurants that are typically pricey if you screw up at home. I’d love to return however my wife is more of a plain diner so I might have to wait until my coworkers are back in town so I can revisit.

It’s a hole in the wall place but wow the atmosphere feels like a Milford coffee shop. Good sushi and beer for a good price.

Received four and a half stars on open table and DEFINITELY did not deserve that rating. Service painfully slow. Food too salty(and I love salt). My wife’s chicken looked bad — overcooked dry(her assessment also). My steak was large but short ok, definitely not good.

We had a lovely cocktail hour one evening on our drive home from work. The restaurant was quiet so we had a lot of one-on-one attention. Service was great. Our drinks were very good(they went down QUITE smooth!) and the food was tasty. Convenient location and nice ambiance. I’ll definitely go here again.

Food was decent but service was less than perfect. Overall slow service. A number of menu items were unavailable which was odd because the place was empty. Crab cakes were yummy and the wine selection was pretty good.

I had been wanting to try this place for a while so a girl friend of mine and I went for dinner last night and I wasn’t all that impressed. For a wine bar their selection wasn’t stellar and my meal was disappointing. I had a scallop/pasta dish that was so lemony it was almost unbearable and I’m pretty sure the scallops were severely undercooked so I didn’t even touch them. I didn’t send it back(because I hate doing that) but our server was about the best part of the experience so I’m sure she would have made it better. I wasn’t starving anyway so just ate some of the pasta and made up for it in dessert :) the chocolate flourless cake that was actually pretty good– but could have used more than a sad drizzle of raspberry sauce! I will probably give this place another try someday to see if they do better but won’t be rushing back any time soon.

Local fine dining. Feels and tastes like Boston. Great find, will definitely be back!!!

Overpriced meal in mediocre surroundings. My vodka martini was not well chilled, the shrimp pasta dish at $ 17 for a half serving was laughable. The pasta was from a box, the shrimp were tiny and smelled funny, the asparagus was almost nonexistent, and they even managed to make the sliced garlic tasteless. There was a strange herbed soupy butter served with a non– descript Italian bread. The Red Creek Cab was tasty, but at $ 14 a glass, it dampened the enjoyment. The server was pleasant but appeared rushed. I will not be returning.

This is a hidden gem in the suburbs. Not many fine dining restaurants in the Milford area. Truffles is consistently great food, atmosphere and friendly service. I love that the owner is always around the dining room, seating people and talking with customers — its good to know they care enough to stay involved. We’ve been several times and a sign of a good restaurant is its consistency, and we can always count on great food and a nice experience. Definitely worth a visit for dinner or a nice glass of wine at the wine bar.

Great food. Great atmosphere both in the dining room and bar area. I have eaten in both and have always been pleased. This is truly a hidden gem here in Milford. Their steaks rivaled any steak house. Go once and I guarantee you will be going back.

Excellent! Lovely place, great food & good service. We will definitely be back. Sea bass was the best I’ve ever had-seriously. Chef is awesome. Hubby got steak and friend got the Baked cod and raved about it. Next time will try out the bar & fireplace area, looked like a nice time. Can’t wait to return for sure!

Kinda okay; if you haven’t had better for the price. This place has good food. And that is just it — okay and good. It is hot, and fairly well cooked — but definately not justified in the prices they charge. I think it was a Brigham’s Ice Cream or something like that and they sort of converted it into this present incarnation. There are much better place in Milford like — Trattoria 89 Centrale, which is homecooked and the owner makes the desserts. This place is okay if you want to pay alot for smaller rather common portions, flavors and taste and it is okay if you want to spoil yourself and then get something else when you get home. It is like really pricy for the area. Would we go back — nope. But was there anything wrong with the food — nope. It is just what it is… an okay place with average food and a pleasant staff.

First time here– service, waitstaff and food was excellent. A bit pricey, but well worth it. The pork chops were over the top good, and the wine«flight» tasting was fun!

It was adequate in terms of price, food quality, and portions. I agree with other reviewers that the service could have been better, atmosphere improved, and that overall it was not spectacular. For an expensive place, I really wasn’t that impressed.

Nothing but two good experiences here. Sat at the bar for some wine and appetizers. Was so happy that the had they Cake Bread Cellars Chardonnay we were craving when we went in. For apps we had the crab cakes and the lobster crepes. Both were delicious. Seeing what other reviewers have had to say, I think we will stick with the bar. You should too of you decide to try this place.

I was about to feel bad about posting this review until I read another review just now that echoes my experience this past weekend at Truffles. It was my first time there and I will say that while the food was good and the wine divine(I tried both their Pinot Grigio and sweet Riesling by the glass), I won’t be back. Why? The service was SLOW and inattentive, and the restaurant was fairly empty at the time which made it all the more frustrating. I too felt it was overpriced and that I could get great food at a slightly better price elsewhere. If anything, I’d go back to sit and sip some delicious wine and rely on a bartender and not a server. I may have had an unusual experience, but it just doesn’t inspire me to return.
